Now that was a bit of class... Don't want to take away anything from the goal but some of them Colchester tackles were shocking so no wonder their fans kicked off behind the goal.

Seems like that small loan spell with Chorley earlier this season has really helped Charles Vernam. Looks a completely different player now.

How's Harry Davis getting on there btw? How you finding things with Ian Holloway?
Just to echo what's already been said. Davis was doing fine until he got injured but will now probably struggle to get back in the team now although the way Holloway made 5 changes last night he may well get back in rather soon if IH thinks a couple of our CB's need a rest.

As for Holloway himself, I'm still surprised that he took the job here but it's amazing the difference that one man can make with his all round positivity and exuberance. Long may it continue and although we've probably left it a bit too late this season to push for the play-offs I'm looking forward to next season when we could well give it a good go with 2 or 3 more IH players in the squad.

A final word of praise though for Michael Jolley for thinking that Charles Vernam was that poor we had to ship him out on loan to the bottom of The National League. Since he's come back he been a totally different player.

Doesn't sound your stereotypical footballer name does Charlie boy.
Charles Vernam strikes me he should be on a lacrosse pitch .
Great goal by the way despite a bit of airy fairy defending.

The day after, all that nonsense at the end has made it feel, very oddly, like a bit of a defeat. With the suspensions now and the psychological damper that would have had on the squad I'd now be delighted with a goal-less bore draw on Saturday against Colchester. At 87 minutes and cruising at 3-0 my expectations for Saturday were rather different.

It was weird as despite winning and relief it did feel oddly flat and like a loss.

However Pope could of been banned anyway as his charge had to be in by today for the tweet and Clarke can be covered by Atkinson if needed, Colchester have probably had a bigger blow losing again at home from a leading position so very much a game we should be looking to try and win.

Is a weird feeling though after a great away win to feel downbeat!

I'd definitely have been annoyed if that goal was scored against us. Someone should surely have taken one for the team there.

Well you're gonna love his full name then. Charles Terence Priestley Vernam.

Went to Crewe to shut up shop and grab a point. 90th minute loss is always a pain but, to be honest, I had us as losing this anyway.

Odd to hear both managers say the ref was useless. I wasn't there but the general feel from the interviews etc was he was crap for both teams.

From the highlights I'd say Crewe's was a penalty but the player went looking for the defender to fall over him. I'd say Crawley's wasn't. Too soft for me but gleefully accepted.

We have to find a style that stops our keeper having to make two or three blinding saves in a match. Great while Morris can do it but a downturn of form (it happens) and we start to get thrashed.

John Yems has made the team difficult to beat but without a few better players we aren't going to make the step up to play off contenders etc.

FGR fans - try to justify your #14s very abrupt change in behaviour when sat on the deck when he realised there was a chance it wasn't just a fk and Pope was being called over. Go. I'm embarrassed for you having watched that. If a Vale player play acted in that manner I'd seriously hope Askey or the squad would fine them and Askey would mention it in the local press.
To be fair, if one of our players fouled an opponent then bent over him with his forehead touching the man he had just brought down and screamed abuse at him (very close to where I was sat) I would absolutely hammer him...yellow was justified, stupid thing to do.

FGR players were like the Cooper Swindon sides though and played Kettle like a fiddle, I didn't see it until Beadle pointed it out but their lads reaction to ensure Pope saw red was farcical, he held his head about 10 seconds after! The penalty was a dive too.

Pope though is 34 though and should know better with seconds and a free kick into the box of the game left. The first yellow was harsh as it wasn't intentional.

Clarkes Red looked one at the time, it is hard to see from the camera angle as to how high it was (if just late surely a yellow) but I was expecting the red to come out so likely correct, that was plain idiotic but he is much younger.

It has been our Achilles heel this season, game management and has cost us at Mansfield, Orient and Salford which could haunt us come May and nearly did last night. Superb 75 minutes or so but need to learn the lessons if we want the top 7 spot.

Nothing against FGR fans, but I love to see Mark Cooper teams beaten. Even worse than Graham Westley teams at spoiling and cheating tactics.

FGR were a horrible spoiling lot at our place earlier this season. I can just about stomach losing to a good team but to get beaten by that lot was horrible to take.

Morris always seems to have a Stormer Vs us. Along with the Grimsby keeper who also tends to have a worldie when he plays vs us, he is probably the best keeper in the league imo.

James is a great shot stopper and can catch a cross or two, luckily his crap kicking and general distribution has ensured he's stayed with us and not gone on to 'better things'. He's also our captain. I like the bloke!

Because it's cost us a key suspension at a critical time of the season against the team in 5th place you daft haddock.
Hey, no need to attack Haddocks.

We all know Vale will fail at the final hurdle, might look like a promotion plaice team is there before Easter, but you'll implode and allow us, or another un-fancied club overtake you before the season ends.

You lot gave MoTM to a guy who was using our keeper as a climbing frame every time you got a set piece last weekend...

Grimsby fans what are your views on Luke Hendrie?

I went to school with and am quite close friends with his fiancé - so there's a Plymouth connection.

Wonder if Lowe knows and could tempt them back down to her family home

Was excellent on loan here and since his permanent move here he’s probably been even better. Very happy with him.

With Kettle as ref if I was playing I’d be dropping in the box at every opportunity as both pens he gave at FGR v Vale were soft as shit, the FGR one especially was a pathetic decision.

I don't know, he didn't give us many when we went down!

He's a Yorkshireman, so I'm sure all Ollie would have to do is tell him how much stuff costs down there.

One of our fans was talking to a player about him today, apparently he booked one of them for asking why he didn't stop the game when Brisley had took a knock to the head.

They found him not only difficult but very arrogant towards the players. Apparently another player mentioned that their previous manager used to actively warn the players prior to matches with Kettle in charge.

He is the one that blew for half time or full time just as Accrington rifled a shot into the net with the whistle blown as the ball was flying in!

Just seen this on facebook. Same rat that got Pope sent off with his simulated head injury. Trevor Kuntle couldn't wait to blow for the pen. Good luck.

p.s. apart from Chris on here, fuck FGR and fuck Cooper. Shithouses.

I can't believe the irony of this complaint considering how soft Vale's penalty was
