Absolutely gutted after that and I felt for our players at the end.

It was a tight game as anticipated, but I thought we were the better side and had shown more quality in the final third. There were not a huge number of chances, but Hawkes missed a sitter in addition to our goal and there were several decent half chances for Nevitt and Hemmings. Doohan had nothing to do other than mopping up after a few crosses prior to stoppage time, and Vale had not got behind our back four all game. We switched off once in the 94th minute and paid for it.

Lewis Warrington was outstanding in the centre of midfield and deserved to be on the winning team today.

Luck is just not on our side at the moment. A month ago we would of ground out five points out of those last 3 games.

I'm keeping quietly optimistic about reaching the play offs.
It's hard to believe we are still missing a lot of decent players like Josh Grant, Anthony Evans, Alfie Kilgour, Alex Rodman, Jon Nolan and Trevor Clarke...that's half a team, plus Loft and L.Clarke returning from injury.
We have had our poor run there is no reason why we cant keep winning, nobody to fear especially as others are stuttering.
Some of those have been out so long I’ll admit I forgot we had them! Completely forgot we signed Nolan!

I don’t disagree with you, I’m certainly looking up - but the pessimist in me has been so scarred since GC went to Mansfield.

For now, I’m just going to enjoy the good attacking football for a change and let the promotion stuff sort itself out

Wow. How deluded are all these Tranmere fans!?

That sitter you missed first half was about 5 yards offside and criminal how the officials didn't give it.

The one in the side netting was 20 yards out, a speculative volley and was nowhere near troubling the keeper.

We had a header from Hall blocked on the line, Wilson misjudged a ball across the box on the edge of the area and Proctor swiped one over the bar from a similar position. All those came from neat, interchanging passing from ourselves.

Are you deliberately ignoring the blatant handball in the buildup to your goal too? Convenient that. Must be the faux Scouse bias creeping in again.

We more than deserved a point. You created nothing. Every half chance you had throughout the game came from our poor passes gifting you an opportunity. Not to mention the amount of luck you got with bobbles, blocks and deflections going your way was unreal. Clarke sliced two or three clearances/headers and conveniently, they all fell perfectly to either a Tranmere man or into the only few inches of space that didn't have a Vale player pressing. Granted, your keeper didn't have a lot to do, but besides two reasonably simple saves from shots from way out, neither did ours.

Officials were appalling. All three of them. Morris got booked by the touchline and he clearly got a touch on the ball. Throw in, not a card. A plethora of incorrect decisions, mostly in your favour, from throw ins, free kicks and goal kicks that should've been corners. Not to mention our player letting the ball fly over everyone and bounce out for a goal kick towards the end of the first half, only for the unbelievably clueless referee to award a corner!!!

You're clearly extremely solid defensively and don't give too much away, but you are bang average going forward which explains your GF and GA, down to a tee.

Impressed by Cogley again. Best player I've seen this season in both home and away matches combined. Warrington was very good in the middle Thought Cooper was busy for us trying to make things happen but won't come up against many better full backs I'd say. Proctor and Gibbo coming on changed the game for us. Them two back firing and Conlon to come back too. Very interesting run in ahead.

Having seen the Crosby interview it’s obvious it’s been an incredibly tough week at the club for everyone so proud they’ve dug in and got a solid point today.

It’s a great interview and shows just what a club we now have… if Smurf was there today he at least saw we’ve moved on and are now a million miles from his spell.

Hopefully we can make the play offs at least, it’s been a season of adversity and huge tests of character but whatever happens I’m proud of the group of players we’ve got this season and their togetherness and desire for the shirt.

Onto a huge game Tuesday, fair play to Tranmere for some classy tweets regarding DC too after the game as well.

Yeah playoffs would be a great achievement I would say given all we've had to deal with this season. Be the first time we'd have made the playoffs in any division if we did it since 1993. Must be one of the longest stretches any club has had without it. Of course top 3 is still feasible but just with the run of Saturday - Tuesdays we'll have to do to me it's a big ask physically and mentally.

Agreed thought it was very classy of Tranmere on their Twitter account and also fans of Bristol Rovers and Mansfield too on there. Shame one or two Walsall fans had to let themselves down on it during the week with what they were putting but to stress it was a small but very sad minority.

Yeah great to see other clubs support for DC and sad to see a couple of the Walsall fans comments although will add many more comments from their fans that were classy so only a small handful of idiots.

On reflection whilst felt on the back of their form and injuries we would go at Tranmere the difficult week the players and club have had in the end it was a great effort to dig out a point in such circumstances, always had a feeling following the score that we’d not let DC down today and was probably fate that we’d give him that moment at the end.

Thought Mansfield were superb, the best side to come to Newport, though ironically another five minutes against ten men and I think we would have won it. Stupid by O’Toole. Would be very surprised if Mansfield don’t make top three.

It’s going to be difficult to make top three if we keep outplaying sides in the first half and not scoring.

Just seen the tackle by Gibbo to stop the Tranmere break away. Definitely recovered those hammys there! Absolute thunder of a tackle!

Was an absolute beauty that. Greatest one of his have ever seen was when he went in on that Stoke U23 in the Paintpot game and sent him flying 10 rows back into the Lorne Street. Remember Mitch Clark live tweeting his approval on that one at the time.

I'd be starting him Tuesday. Give Worrall some well deserved rest.

He was the first pitch invader, the second was Carver
You’ve got a right collection of young gobshites. The young fella flicking the Vs after McKirdy scored and then flinging his burger and chips at him. Then after the 3rd another charmer chucking water at the players celebrating. Then the 2 pitch invaders.

I’d be inclined to punish those 2 by giving them lifetime STs!

Yeah think their lad will be a bit sore this morning from that! Similar to the one Spearing did on Hurst last season but front on this time.

I’d be looking to start him certainly. Depends on formation I guess as he’d had that good game with Woz when he played RCB against Salford and would be tempted to get them two linking up again.

The police took a few people away at halftime... presumably anyone who had thrown objects onto the pitch.

Irony I guess is that all those throwing things at McKirdy, like most United fans probably wished he'd stayed and were disappointed when he left.

From an honest, neutral standpoint McKirdy does seem like a right bellend.

He got some abuse from a section of the crowd for percieved lack of effort, it was a season we were fighting relegation and it wasn't that much different to the sort of abuse players tend to get from their own fans when things are going badly. He probably felt singled out though as a flair player they do cop more stick for things like not tracking back that a more no-nonense attacking player might get away with and I think some of it was unfair for that reason

In the summer he wasn't offered a contract because according to Beech he had made it clear already he didn't want to be here. Whether that was him saying 'don't bother offering me a contract, nothing to make me stay' or whether it was Beech inferring from his attitide that he didn't want to be here I don't know, but officially he goes on record as having been released.

He'll have to get used to it at some point. Even though things are going really well for him at Swindon, if next season they aren't... get promoted and struggle with the step up, or miss out on promotion and then see a massive turnaround in form next season, the Swindon fans will likely be no different to any other set of fans and he'll cop some stick.

I think Trevor Clarke will surprise a lot of people if he can stay fit, was looking very decent in his last couple of games.
I'm the same just sit back and enjoy the ride. Nobody else in L2 is expecting us to do anything so lets see what happens.
Connor Taylor is so important for us though, if he isn't playing we will need to score 2-3 goals to get any points imo

I was (sadly) thinking about this in the barbers this morning how if we could go up this year, there must surely be a good chance we can get Taylor on loan again next season?

He is one of the most impressive young players I’ve ever seen in L1/2

I liked the look of him from the Plymouth friendly match. not sure why we didn't play him from day 1.
If he keeps this up Stoke will be wanting him back for their 1st team or matchday squad at least.
Ideal world; we will go up and Stoke would want him tested in a higher league hopefully with us again - he is going to be some player though!!

Rochdale have put a statement out saying the 2 lads who ran on the pitch after their goal will be banned if caught.

There’s a lad on Twitter called “Tommy” defending them. Wonder if the youngster who got attacked in a pub was Asian, in Scunny we treat the Asian community like we would anyone else, unlike certain parts of Lancashire.

The argument that Tommy was making in so far as I can tell is that’s killing the atmosphere which is ridiculous. You can make noise at games without going on the pitch etc.

Unfortunately it is a growing trend. After our goal on Saturday you can see quite clearly a number of seats being thrown on to the pitch from the away end. Just needless.

Bloke falling down the stairs is funny mind!

Seems growing trouble again at the moment, not sure if that’s because of post lockdown fever or what but needs to stop.

I can tell you now andy cook will score saturday if he plays.

Always liked him, and whereas we’ve got better options upfront now than him he’s always going to be decent at this level.
