Seems odd seeing a port vale line up with only one ex carlisle player (and a loanee who played eight games for us at that)

I would imagine at some point Amoo will come on to slightly up the quota. But yeah it did seem for a long time our recruitment policy was basically did or does he play for Carlisle? Barrow have taken that baton on now I think.

Most of the ones we’ve had from you did alright in fairness.

That does look a good lineup. I’d be shocked if we get anything tonight.

I am a little surprised we are giving Leon Legge another start in quick succession. He struggled with the turnaround for midweek games a lot last season and thought at the age he is now we might have taken the approach Cambridge did with Hoolahan last season.

Think I would have kept Gime Toure in the match squad, at least to bring off the bench. He had a fantastic game at Vale Park last season.

Amond starts and Hartridge is back. Happy with that. Only 6 subs and one of them is Atangana though

Surprised to see Clough dropping Oli Hawkins, likely Oates going upfront with Danny Johnson and Lapslie coming in to the starting eleven.

Hawkins was limping for a short time on Saturday. At the time, I thought he had pulled his hamstring but then he played on.

I'm also surprised if it's a tactical decision as Hawkins has been one of our best players so far.

Now you come to mention it he was fantastic that day. And I did just check to see if it was because Zak Mills was in our lineup which he wasn’t. That day Callum Guy really ran the show and we stupidly went 4-4-2 and clearly looked like we had never practiced it for a single minute beforehand.

He is on the bench though, suppose we will find out.

Forgot to mention Hewitt is replacing Gordon at RB too.

At least we have Yatesy on commentary tonight rather than Sproson who I think is a little bitter his meal ticket at VP has come to an end. Means I can watch with the sound on anyway.

Carlisle had the better of it so far with Tanner having a decent attempt on goal. Best moment for us was Worrall getting put through but just couldn’t get the ball from under his feet.

We started well but port vale just absolutely sliced us open. Great last ditch tackle but not good signs at all this when vale go forward

Mansfield have started really well, playing some great football, usually means a Colchester goal incoming!

This is shaping up to be attack vs defence, we just can't compete with the team we have out there

Becoming an entertaining game this with both teams now having a go.

I have to say the way Carlisle defended a couple of our set pieces one of which a corner and the other the long throw is offering us some encouragement.

You'll like this Swindon fans. The BBCRC commentators have just suggested that Port Vale are a bit direct in contrast to Carlisle's passing game.

We’re playing alright, but we’re absolutely toothless. Prime example when Abrahams got behind them to the bye line, but didn’t have a clue what to do with it. More Wasted opportunities.

If we had a striker in the box we could actually have a chance on the counter, Walsall's RB's positioning is horrific he looks lost defensively.

How dare they!!!!!!

They’re right to be fair. Garrity has to do better with that header there. Was a golden chance for us really.

What’s evident so far is never in a million years are we going to score from a corner against these vale defenders. They eat up absolutely everything in the air.

This Carlisle keeper is really not fancying our long throw at all. Doesn’t seem very sure on whether to come for it or not.

That said we got very lucky that Carlisle didn’t capitalise on a 4v1 counter attack. Enjoying watching this though.

Honest to fucking god. 4 against 1. We are absolutely clueless in attack. Absolutely fucking clueless.

I don't think we're ever going to score from open play again, I can't believe we haven't just scored.

We hit the bar and it falls to the one place that we can't knock in the rebound, we are cursed.

Mansfield did everything right in the first half but score, played some great football and look threatening.

Good half that. Carlisle played some nice passing football and Tanner for them is a threat.

For us we have been dangerous on set pieces and we’ve had some joy with the direct balls down the channels for Rodders. Worrall, Walker and Benning are looking good for me.

Do Port Vale fans see what I mean now about us being absolutely clueless in the final third?
