Feels like the officials are trying their best to ruin our fun after Saturday doesn’t it!? Plenty of positives, but we should be going in to Saturday with a perfect record really.

Saturday was unreal, the ref was doing everything possible to get newport a leveller, it’s almost like he was going to be punching the ball in the net.

Colchester had all the quality of a mid table conference side, we dominated throughout and were far superior, it does look like he’s nicked him though and it was a penalty for me, soft but well a penalty is a penalty.

In reality we should have been 2 or 3 up, we were well clear and well better than colchester and can only look at ourselves for not winning the match.

7 points from 9 is more than acceptable

Don't know if it came across on iFollow, but the wind was such a big factor on our match. Exeter controlled it without really threatening in the first-half, and second-half was all Barrow. The two big chances were for Zanzala, but good defending kept it out. All our new signings look very good, but Josh Gordon and Remeao Hutton feel like absolute revelations given they weren't really rated by their previous clubs.

Some lovely dirty challenges tonight from both sides, but it never quite kicked off. Didn't have the best view of it, but looked like a possible handball for a penalty in injury time.

I think the two biggest issues we have are our best forward is more interested in drifting out wide rather getting into the box (as well as not pulling the trigger and instead trying to take another man on). We are also desperately missing Tom Conlon to get his foot on the ball and pass the ball around. Garrity tries hard and will never fault a player for that but he is no Conlon in terms of ability and technique.

On to Stevenage, they've had a bad defeat tonight but they are always a difficult proposition at their place. For me we have to go 4-2-3-1. This squad DC has assembled is made for that formation.

Callum Guy showed what a clever player he has become tonight for them. Wasn't flash from him but he wins those free kicks when his team is under pressure and always spots the simple ball, something we were lacking a little tonight.

thought we deserved a win overall, we edged that one a bit more than the tranmere game in terms of chances but we're not quite getting the rub of the green in front of goal with the woodwork getting in the way all the time.

i was quite impressed with carlisle overall, similar to us really, if they can get a bit more efficient in the last 3rd then they'll have a good season.

the wind was horrendous - Exeter had it 1st half - but i don't think they created a chance, they were woeful in attack.
2nd half all Barrow, countless corners - but a ref who didn't know how to control the game and didn't have the balls to make the big decisions - the Exeter defenders were like all in wrestlers at every corner and the ref just let it go and wouldn't make the call - spineless coward.

A game that started off open and attacking and then gradually descended into a slog... Referee was atrocious in that. We lost some of our discipline then and started to just hoof it clear a bit much. For a lot of that second half if was just backs against the wall.

Draw probably a fair result and we look decent at the back still. I thought Vale were a good team, as were Swindon so we can't really complain about going away to those two and coming out of it with 4 points. All depends on us beating Orient on Saturday of course (in before HG chips in to say 'we won't'... I'll say we might and at this point I'll happily take a situation where we might be making a decent start to the season)

Abrahams looked good in the first half with his workrate and positioning. He had to come off before he got sent off eventually, stupid booking for kicking the ball away and then he was getting a bit wound up. Unfortunate for him that other players made him look less effective than he could have been, it really was a poor pass onto his bad foot when we were 4v1 and the Vale defenders crowded him out well when he got behind the line while the Carlisle players weren't asking for it. Both times I don't think it was his fault when nothing came of it.

Overall that was the issue of our attack throughout. Not enough players wanting the ball when we got forward, players getting into decent positions and not shouting for it.

It’s been years since we really battered someone, 4-1 ft Andy Cook first half hat trick against in form Stevenage, that was a joy to watch!

bloody hell him and angol.

Saturday looks a right cracker, few of your fans down from england that i know so should be a belter, your fans always travel down well and are class so looking forward to saturday.

Just hand us the trophy now.. :bdick:

Seriously though we’ve been a bit lucky in that our first goals at Walsall and tonight were against the run of play, but we’ve battled well once in front, look a bit suspect at the back but our front 2 are on fire. Worrying that Godwin-Malife was stretchered off after a nasty looking head/neck injury though, our best defender and we don’t have a lot of cover.

Cook was faultless tonight, Angol missed a pen then went off injured so could well miss Saturday, expect Songo’o will make his first start but agreed that it looks a cracker.

Decent point on the road, definitely would've taken that beforehand. Need a target man.

Think that's a good summing up. I'd say it's two competitive teams who could develop into being very good teams at this level if they can find a way to be more clinical up top. Very early days in this season so plenty of time to grow into it.

For all the talk about up top for us to concede only 1 goal in 3 league games so far is a decent effort. If you can't score at least make sure the other team don't so at least that part of the team is functioning well.

Crap again slightly less crap than Saturday sat back and invited pressure for the last 20 minutes and got what we deserved this defence worries me except Rollin who came in and was excellent again looks a better player than Monthe so far.No options on the bench again need at least one more striker.

What was with Oldham tonight? My word first half they were worse than an under 10s school team, I’m not exaggerating either.

If we actually had a striker we’d have been 5 goals ahead at HT, no doubt.

Referee awful for both sides, but I guess that’s L2 refereeing.

They must have the most honest bunch of players in the league... If not the whole world. Hope to see that fair play award given to them at the end of the season...

We were a bit alright tonight!

Cook unplayable. Vernam was absolutely quality. With a lot of key players still to return, it definitely bodes well - but I’m not getting carried away just yet.

Yeah that poor pass on the 4v1 was from Mellish who I thought had a stinker tonight. His attempted finish on his left foot summed up his performance. Should have been taken off on about 60 minutes.

Absolute domination from start to finish.

Perfect hattrick for Cook and the Stevenage RB will be seeing Vernam in his nightmares for weeks. Excellent performance, on to Mansfield on Saturday.

I'm still trying to work out why Saunders got booked for diving in the box when he got up immediately without any protest to chase the ball. We beat Oldham and the ref tonight.
Still need to get more games in the legs and hopefully we will play like we did in the first half for the majority of the game.

Not sure why they would be playing a rugby team?

Then again, wouldn’t expect a Mansfield fan to actually understand

Didn’t come across like irony, sounds reads like you disagree with it. Then of course Conkers post too.

Quick look at your forum:

“just watched penalty, absolutely shocking call from the ref

hang your head”

“I wasn't even sure what the penalty was given for. There was no foul.”

“I don’t think it was a penalty but Macca did give the ref a decision to make.”

;)
