You did look shattered after about 70 minutes to the point where I thought we might get something. However, you did put a massive amount of effort in pressing and winning second balls. In fairness, we are mega fit as a team and have recruited with good runners in mind. That'll stand us in good stead as the season progresses.

As with Tranmere on Saturday, I think all 3 teams lack that composure up front. If we finish above both teams I'd expect us to be top 7.

I'm not too worried at the moment. We've had a really tough set of fixtures to start the season, probably the toughest out of any team, and so I anticipated we'd start slowly whilst we're still gelling. I don't think this formation allows us to get enough control in the middle and we look a bit scrappy and disjointed, without a clear plan at times.

Really though we had enough chances in both games to be sitting on 6 points instead of two. Hit the woodwork 4 times in 2 games now, surely that will change at some point.

Yeah you hit the woodwork once against us last night and it really should have been a goal, no excuse for missing the target there. Also a couple of moments as well where your players simply took too long like the one in the first half where he delayed and allowed our left back to get an all be it very well timed tackle in. I still don't think you're as useless in the final third as we are though, I very much doubt you'd have made a mess of the 4 v 1 situation as we did.

We are... you've scored a goal this season (2) we've scored none in the league!

Whilst we hit the woodwork twice one was an overhead kick and one your keeper misjudged but we are getting in good area's just doesn't feel like the formation is working for us at the moment, hopefully with Conon and Politic to get fit and a fourth striker due to sign by the end of the window we can click and improve there, I am not too concerned just yet but do need to click sooner rather than later.

Whether we’d butcher it or not would depend on who was involved but it’s not beyond us to do something like that. We have Rodney who seems intent on trying to beat a man multiple times rather than have a go at goal and with no Conlon someone with that calmness in the middle. That one last night was pretty bad though.

haha true that.

I bet someone got grounded by their mum for ruining her best sheet though...maybe both their best sheet who knows what goes on in Mansfield.
On the theme of Mansfield and tinpot, who makes the emojis for this site? We need a Mansfield team bus emoji

Can we grow up enough to stop slagging off 100,000+ people in a town for one comment?
Funny how you don’t seem to have a problem with Adam accusing half of Bristol of being wife beaters. Can’t have it both ways.

Rovers fans. I know he only played 13 minutes but how does Pitman look? Is he carrying much timber?
Was available wrong side of the match tbh with you, but you can’t start a striker and take him off after 13 mins sadly.

Hows Garner doing? I have to say I’m a bit annoyed he’s managed to get an entire 4 points, he took 3 months to get that with us

Only 3 games in so of course tough to judge but he's managed a win, draw and defeat so has a full house there! I've only seen the game last night but like how we are setup, play out from the back with quick possession. Our problem at the moment is we don't have much up front and so we are great until the final third. We are effectively still in pre-season but so far so good.

I think he'll work well with the players Ben Chorley has brought in.

A Garner side with no decent strikers. That sounds familiar....

Apparently we have 2 in the pipeline so watch this space!
All the moaning supporters of Tranmere have surely been silenced with their moaning about our keeper getting MOTM against you by the fact your keeper got in the team of the week. Doubt it but we can hope.

Why were they moaning about that? He saved you from losing the game just as our keeper kept us from losing it. I thought all round it was a 50/50 game.

Some of our supporters moan about anything. We beat Solihull Moors 9-0 during our time in the NL and i heard somebody complaining about us having a penalty saved as we were leaving the ground. Every club has them unfortunately.

I thought it was a really enjoyable game last night between two decent footballing sides. Swindon were the best side we have played so far, and I was impressed with how well they moved the ball considering their squad has been thrown together at the last minute. Jack Payne caused us a lot of problems and is a really intelligent player, probably too good for this level like MacManaman.

A draw was a fair result but we missed two absolute sitters from six yards. The Mani miss in the second half looked a good save initially, but probably falls into the category of the striker hitting the keeper with a poor header rather than a worldy. It would have been interesting to see what Nevitt could have made of some of our balls into the box if he had played the ninety minutes.

Nevitt seems to have a mostly positive backing from our supporters. Its a good story and hopefully he does well.

Probably this is the same at yours, but the rumour of a new striker is Norwood. Wether there’s anything in it, I have no idea.

Bet he would have finished a few of those collective chances last night.

Like a lot of players who have left us on Bosman transfers he has had terrible problems with injuries. No idea why it happens.
If you can pay a large chunk of his wages (£5,000 a week according to court papers in his drink driving trial) then you might get him. We seem reluctant to pay a lot of wages at the moment despite others thinking we are.

That’s probably why Jonny Williams signed.

Probably a couple of youngsters without any league experience who wont question him.....or maybe Garner has learned his lesson.
I suspect 1 will be like that and the other an experienced pro. Reed, Williams and Gladwin definitely can't be put in the category you suggested, we seem to have a good mix of experience and youth.

Whats your view on the new signings? So far Dan Jones looks outstanding, long through, great range of passing and solid enough, thought Walker looks decent, bigger version of Joyce with more of a presence.

Disappointed so far in Benning though.
Really disappointed in Benning after the comments from Mansfield fans. Jones has been brilliant, Martin I haven't seen enough of, Garrity runs around a lot but doesn't have much skill. Wilson needs to up his effort by 50%. Walker looks solid if not a little slow at times. I think in general we have replaced with better. The keeper still holds on to the ball for way too long for my liking!

Benning did struggle in more recent times for Mansfield, but he’s a good player and deserves time, works better in a wing back role too but capable doing either. I hope he finds form again.

I think in Bennings case he seemed to pick up a knock at Chesterfield given the way they were kicking him and vice versa so might well be working through that. I've got no worries with him long term to be honest. We need to get the wingbacks higher up the pitch in general though as too often they are becoming a flat 5 so far.

Problem we found with Ben most of the time was he got found out by good managers too quickly. He can set you up well, and at times I probably saw some of the best football I've seen Rovers play, for about 20 minutes. Then they'd change formation and we'd lose 3-0. Rinse, repeat. Perhaps the drop in quality and pressure on the ball in L2 will suite his style?

But yeah attacking/goals is his biggest problem. Somehow he made JCH look useless, who we sold for some £1m or something and now he's worth £8m...

I'm still wary of Garner of course, he is still pretty much a rookie manager. If he can take the good bits from his time with you and learn from those mistakes hopefully he can have a good career with us. It's still a time will tell but the early signs are pretty good, let's hope they last!!

you can take both Doyle and Isgrove off us for a £1m once we secure promotion back to the championship next May

He’d be a fool if he didn’t address his faults at BRovers and just repeated them with us.

Maybe the general set up there wasn’t ideal for him.

Can only judge how he does here. Get Norwood plus 1 more and we’re done!
