Could have done without the Rochdale equaliser - but otherwise not too bad;-
Colchester and Orient losing was good.
And Scunthorpe need more than 1 point - drawing every game will only get them to 36 point....

We really do know how to shoot ourselves in the foot.

We have had our fair share of last minute drama this season both good and bad. Two games against Rochdale this season and should really have won both of them and come away with 1 point.
I’ve got to be honest usually I’m bricking it going into injury time but they were so bad I was pretty relaxed, it’s an absolute balls up. We won’t have a more comfortable night all season defensively and to make that error there was just ridiculous.

Wilson should of ended the contest but Hall if in trouble just foul him and we will deal with the free kick!

Only Vale!

Vale were poor too. The match itself was horrendously poor. 1 shot on target to 2. You were poor and we were worse, I’ll take the point under the circumstances. You won’t make the playoffs on that showing IMO.

That's probably for me the most frustrating result all season even if a point away from home is usually not too bad. In complete control to the point that Dale fans were really getting on their teams back as the game wore on then just off a hopeful punt down field we switch off once and paid the price.

Know the initial mistake came from Connor Hall but he was excellent otherwise and probably my MOTM. I'm not blaming him for tonight but given how little Holy has largely had to do has he actually made a save worthy of the name yet? Cooper the more I see of him I think he's another Ian Armstrong, loads of feints and all that stuff but no real end product to him.

Hahahaha. Utter garbage. Controlled and absolutely dominated the game from start to finish and you've nicked a point with your only chance.

Your keeper made two excellent saves for a start so quite how you get 2 shots on target, when we scored, I'll never know.

Your number 12 is the worst player I've ever seen and you're far and away the worst side I've seen us play in my 31 years of following Vale. Laughably bad.

Only ourselves to blame for that. Wilson literally missed a sitter seconds before. Should've scored at least 3 without fail.

Must win game on Saturday for me now or the season is well and truly over.

Aww boo boo, someone’s bitter. I stand corrected you had a massive 3 shots on target. My opinion is I’ve seen much better sides than you, and you were poor. We were just even worse. But I don’t claim we are anything special, I know what we are.

I thought we were poor first half but absolutely controlled it second half. Second half you could see the clear gulf in retaining possession. We probably should have scored a couple more but as long as it's 1-0, we were always susceptible.

No disrespect to Rochdale but on that showing they are the worst team we have played this season and yet here we are only taking a point away. They were aimless, had no attacking threat at all and kept giving the ball back to us.Feels like a defeat and I think we're out of the running now. We just have historically always shot ourselves in the foot.

Aside from Oldham who we absolutely battered and somehow lost in injury time that’s the most frustrating.

We did virtually everything right tonight, got the goal, controlled the play, slowed it down second half and didn’t give Rochdale a sniff until that point, perfect away performance really on a potato field of a pitch but that one lapse has undone all that.

We never seem to just turn up and wallop crap sides, never ever have done! We look really good against the top sides but just seem to get dragged into it against the weaker ones.

Their right back looked like he had won a competition to play tonight! We’ve gone to be more ruthless and I really hope Conlon is close because it needs that kind of quality in the middle. We keep the ball well, play good football but we’ve lost that scoring touch we had first half of the season.

Stevenage now is must win!

Only Vale fans will know how bad we are when I say this: Theo Robinson was our best player tonight and he put in more effort than anyone else.

Gobshite Sparks out. Fat German Rupp out.

We've been there in the last few seasons. It seems like your owner is a prick as we had to endure. We may not go up this season but we have fantastic owners who genuinely care and a management team who is passionate about the club.

Bradford don't deserve this. Vale don't deserve this. Tranmere don't deserve this. Swindon don't deserve this. Northampton don't deserve this. Bristol Rovers don't deserve this.Yet here we are playing teams who can barely get 2000 people in their own ground, somehow in higher divisions than us. We've all been done over by people who don't give a shit about football.

It will get better though and one day the real clubs will rise above these Sunday league pretenders with proper owners in place.

Fair to say the BBC report hits the nail on the head…

‘Rochdale snatched an unlikely point as James Ball scored a 93rd-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Port Vale.

It was the home side's first shot on target at the end of a game low on quality and goalmouth action.’

We stole a point in what was a very low quality match.

Good grief, and to think I was feeling a little disappointed with the ending for Vale tonight. If ever there was a damning statement of the rest of your team that is it.

Cheers. Needed to hear that.

I don't think anything will improve until Rupp is out. And our CEO is the guy who used to run our Twitter account. He hasn't got a single football decision correct since he was appointed. Real fear we could go down to be honest.

I felt a bit bad saying it. He's actually ran his heart out since we signed him but he's just not good enough. It's just infuriating that the other players can't seem to be bothered.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree here. We didn't need to knock it around like Barcelona in the second half as we didn't have any threat. You also can't play quality stuff on a Sunday league pitch.

The gulf between the two sides in the second half was evident even to a blind man. Wilson scores that chance at the end and it's the most comfortable win we would have had all season.

Something I didn't get with your team tonight was that whole playing it short from goal kicks etc. None of them seemed particularly comfortable with the ball especially the LCB Dorsett who looked very shaky to me.

In terms of goalmouth action I think it's accurate to say that but I felt we were the team who controlled the pace of the game throughout really. Apart from one or two very long range attempts can't even remember Dale getting near to our third of the pitch.

Thought overall Orient were better than their form suggested tbh. When we were on top they were probably 7th division levels of football, but once they got going they were decent.

A bit of luck (for us) with their finishing being poor (although it looked like Smith was offside), but overall they didn't create enough goal scoring chances to actually get anything from the game - despite all their play and possession in the 2nd half

We was unlucky not to score tonight to be fair, but once we fell behind the 20mins we had after that is where we lost the game and typical of our players attitude since the new year - they gave up, the second goal got scored in that time and the game was lost.

We started poorly and looked like a team low on confidence, then grew into the game and had some good chances - Ruel Sotiriou displaying why he doesn't start as many games, because he isn't good enough.

Second half was basically us having the ball and waiting for things to happen, rather than trying to make things happen - as it has been all year so far. Harry Smith I felt was very unlucky when he came on not to score to be fair. Rovers I thought got away with it a little bit second half, a better team would've probably got a goal back and made it more of a fight, but when you're up against a team showing as little fight as we have then you're usually safe.

I've heard thats it now for Jackett - 100% gone, our owners and investors all there this evening and I was told that the investors are furious that they appear to have wasted their money on a team with no fight.

Our home crowd was also below 3k - not been that bad since the first season in the National League.

Once we got the lead we dictated the quality of the game, the pitch is awful, arguably worse than ours so dropped into game management mode and it really should of paid off.

We weren’t going to rock up and ping around like Brazil on that pitch. Had we held on we’d be raving about a perfect away performance where we didn’t let Dale have a sniff and talking about how comfortable it was.

It’s become a niggling bad habit though the past three seasons going back to the Covid season, throwing away points very late on, Orient away, Scunthorpe at home amongst others, last season obviously the Tranmere and Walsall debacle’s and this season tonight, Sutton and Oldham. We’d have made the play offs two seasons ago had we managed games better at the death and fear we may cost ourselves the play offs this season which would be a massive under achievement considering how good we looked until the injuries and Covid hit where we were expecting to be autos!

I agree with all that. We are going to have to play better than that against Exeter, but the Mem will be rocking after another win!

Fingers crossed we can get a game on but that sounds like cause to be hopeful. If it is on just looking at the other fixtures tomorrow I expect all the other promotion chasers to win their games so we really don’t want to be slipping up. Not somewhere we have the greatest of records at but then same was true of yourselves at VP and that didn’t stop you winning so hopefully the opposite happens in this one.

Ahhh that’s an absolute throw away. Rochdale haven’t even been in our area for 93 minutes let alone looking capable of scoring. We’ve missed a sitter seconds before and been in complete control of that from minute 1 to 93.

They are the worse side we’ve played this season tonight and not to see that out is absolutely criminal.

Play offs gone with lapses like that.
My goodness : We were awful tonight...honestly awful. How we managed a goal is almost beyond me, but we somehow had a shot on target and it beat the giant Port Vale goalie in injury time.

Although we were truly horrific, Port Vale were not too much better, and only troubled our diminutive stopper twice, plus the one totally free header that went in on the stroke of half time. Really feel they could and should have stepped it up a bit, and if so, they would surely have won at a canter.

One of the poorest games of football since the 70's or early 80's. and I've seen plenty of dross down the years !!!

This club will be relegated next season if we allow Sparks and Rupp to oversee another managerial appointment and summer rebuild.

Yep. Gotten worse every season since Rupp took control. I hear there's a protest being planned over on that Bantamstalk forum.

That's a fair comment. Although I felt we controlled it a very valid critique of Vale is when we are in the ascendancy we almost never put our foot on the throat of the opposition and it costs us a lot.

Very contrasting game to the one at VP where I thought both teams played some really exciting attacking football. Obviously Dale have since lost Beesley and the one that went to Bolton and we've had a fair few changes too but it was a noticeable difference tonight.
