Injuries galore tonight as now Cullen is out too! Adding to Smith, Oyeleke, Taylor and Crookes. Going to be tough but hoping our home form sees us through.

Rodney Parade remains unvisited for me. Tried to go there the first time in non-league only for it to be called off when we'd got to Newport; both times since promotion have now been on a Tuesday night (conceeded a 97th min equaliser there last season).

Everyone we have who can play right back are either injured (Pearson or MWH) or suspended (O'Keefe) so we're seemingly going to play one of our midfielders there tonight.

No Williams or Nicky Law. Not sure this is going to be very pretty.

You usually grind out results away don’t you anyway! Which makes it odd we didn’t try and go with Pope over bloody Bennett who’s been massively out of form.
Take a 0-0 with the injuries we’ve got and hope we can get bodies in by Friday.

Looks like Kirby fitting in there. Best fit from what's available.

With him once side and Fitz the other, along with Whitehead, Osadebe, Stephens, Arthur and Ironside in the team it looks like we've been forced into a very attacking side!

Interestingly turned out we enquired about Bowman under Aspin but as usual Smurf wouldn’t stump up the cash... would of been decent.

Still a kick in the gonads when we had Billy Sharp on trial and V2001 wouldn’t spend the 150k Blades wanted and he went Scunny and the rest is history!

Looks like everyone is feeling the pinch of the busy last month or so. We've had to rest Tommy Lowery and Nicky Hunt is out with a hip injury. So we're down Porter, Lancashire(meh), Nolan, Lowery(who is on the bench tonight but won't play) and Hunt. Plus fringe players in Rio Adebisi and Travis Johnson.

I'll take whatever win I can get tonight, don't care how it comes.

Been a hell of a lot of games since Xmas possibly with the early season ending especially for clubs like ours in the FA Cup (and Leasing for us). Surprised this midweek has been scheduled with that in mind.

Having seen our team with Bridge starting, I can only see a comfortable 2 or 3 goal Forest Green win.

Mckirdy out of the squad again. Almost certainly getting sold by the weekend.

I see Pope is on the bench, which is good for us, although I expect he’ll come on and give us something to worry about.

Law and Williams not playing is a shame for us but we can bring them on if needed later.

Ajose starting is pleasing, hope he does well.

Can’t see many goals in this one.

Yep, we used to play eight games in a week back in the day, we'd be glad of an evening off training once a week to see us families/mistresses. Our captain once had to play three games in a single day with a broken leg and shingles and that didn't stop him lunging in two footed on the opposition with no thought for his, or their safety, before match had even kicked off.

Back then you couldn't make substitutions, if a striker went up for the ball with his elbows first and cut your head clean open and you went down the referee would give a penalty against and book you for being a pansy, you'd be expected to play on with only a bandage to keep your brain in. They wouldn't even stop the game for physio to put bandage on, you'd be expected to carry the physio on your back while he bandaged you up and you kept on playing.

The only rest our players got was at half time when they could sit down for a smoke, a pie and a pint before starting all over again; and that was only if you were winning, if you were losing manager would make you walk over hot coals barefoot while he fired at you with a crossbow for morale.

I tell you, players today live a life of absolute luxury.

The good old days..

1-0 to Exeter. By sounds of it only surprise is it’s taken so long.

Just hand a stonewall penalty turned down, our luck is not going to change tonight

The goal Crewe scored was comedy gold. We’ve had about four gilt-edged chances to equalise, but as per usual we can’t stick the ball in the back of the net. Ho hum.

2-0 down to Oldham, and it sounds deserved.

Incredibly disappointing to be so poor after such a good performance on Saturday.

Newport losing in the playoff final was one of the more enjoyable games of football I’ve watched in sometime, kept some footballing sanity in place.

There speaks a Mansfailed Town fan, you couldn't sum being a Stags fan any better than that.

Thanks Adam

We've had some good chances, but you've been by far the better team. Knocked it around nicely. Can you keep it up for the whole 90 minutes though?

Carlisle must love playing us. They started off cautious as the away side, we did our knocking it about ineffectively with a stray one to end it, then bit of hesitation in our defence and the Carlisle lad drill one over on the cut back and it's in (did similar just before). Not long after give the ball away again some way out and Thomas cracks in a beauty from 25 yards. So now we're chasing a game with no penetration and Carlisle can break when they choose. Matt Mills been done for pace about twice since. Lovely.

I hope Van Veen celebrated his red card in front of the home fans.

Really weak performance so far, lacking effort and energy that we’ve built our season on. Bennett is crap and the goal was comically one founded from Saturdays defensive efforts with no one close to him and from us losing the ball.

Need an absolute rocket after that, 150 mile round trip freezing my bollocks off, injuries killing us but at least do that basics.

Exeter are very much a Graham Westleyesque side, pumping into the channels, time wasting and breaking up play and feigning the odd injury which we are useless against at the best of times but very efficient. Think Stevenage around a decade ago when they were decent.

Would like to see the incident the ref missed when our fans and players seemed convinced something was left in and a free kick wasn’t given.

You just knew it would happen. You don't stand a chance if you give the opposition two goals in every game.
