The only player to score a winning penalty for England in a World Cup Finals shootout was born in Cheltenham thank you, one Eric Dier. Mike Summerbee (he of Man City and England) was also raised in Cheltenham. Steve Cotterill was born and raised there and took his hometown club from a part-time team in the Southern League to the 3rd tier of the English football in 6 years.

1966 hat-trick hero Geoff Hurst has resided in Cheltenham for donkeys now as well

That's not to mention Gustav Holst (he's cultured, look him up on the internet), Richard O'Brien (he who did the Crystal Maze and the Rocky Horror Picture Show) and founder member of the Rolling Stones, Brian Jones (who is buried in Cheltenham cemetery).

I could go on, but I think the point's been made.
Pointless trying to make any reasoned point to Masi as the guy is that fucking dense that he will never admit he’s wrong about anything.

To be fair to Forest Green, they used very little out of the dark arts catalogue in the game against us and were probably the best footballing team we’ve played this season.

Agreed. Some of the stuff in the past was painful though - my partner still eloquently calls them "The Shits" after I dragged her to a game against them in non league.

They have been doing that for years . To be fair the current bunch are nowhere near as bad as they were in the non-league where their play acting was off the charts. It all comes from that odious twat of a manager. Not only is he the Worlds worst loser he is also the High Priest of the Dark Arts.

That's a bit unfair on Cooper to be honest - they were just as bad under Pennock.

Oh yeah they're definitely good... and they weren't diving to win anything of significance like penalties or direct free kicks, we were entirely at fault for conceding those (Callum Guy guilty of the classic rush of blood to the head players sometimes get in scything down an attacker as he just nipped across the corner of the box).

It was more like they wouldn't stand up to any shoulder to shoulder contact at all, and the referee awarded them a free kick each and every time. We play with a high press so when you struggle to tackle without conceding a free kick then you struggle. It seemed as though we had to execute the 'perfect' tackle that was 100% ball and well clear of even the suggestion of contact in order to win possession.

At the end of the game they won two free kicks by the corner flag in quick succession from simply shielding the ball so it was impossible not to touch the player; they also won a free kick by falling on the ball (which I didn't think you were allowed to do) and then rolling over when we tried to get the ball from under them and most irritatingly when Brennan Dickenson burst into the box, held off a defender who was trying to tackle him, and slotted it home beautifully a foul was given because he touched the defender.

Strong words from the Crawley manager or a bit of sour grapes ?

Not really sour grapes as we didn't lose and, I'd say, around 50% of those dodgy decisions went in our favour. He was a really picky ref though.

Orient completely outplayed us on the night. That had nothing to do with the ref. The irritation should have come from the inability of the players to get going and the incorrect decisions of the management to rectify the situation.

90% of posters are sheep? Is that because they all agree you are insufferable. Ask yourself this. Are they responsible for what you type or are you? Your posts are what make others respond to you. Only you

I’m not fully convinced he’s a grown up
Speaking of grown ups what do you think about Evatt saying that your postponed game will only take place when its on Bolton terms. Do you think he will tell his mum on you if its not.

He’s got Barrow promoted from the NL and now he thinks he’s some sort of lower league Mourinho.

Evatt is a spireite, he even lives in Chesterfield, so he’s always going to have a hard on for Mansfield.

He thought that before he'd even got us promoted. The Athletic stuff where they went behind the scenes with his management team was a bit cringey, making out that he was revolutionary by copying other managers.
As time goes by, I'm less and less convinced he would've benefited us by staying.

You really think only 50% of the dodgy decisions went in your favour?
We got absolutely nothing all night aside from a red card and a disallowed goal (I've seen it again and it 100% should have stood), you got a penalty for nothing and still aren't happy with the ref?
I find it all extremely surprising.
