But on a serious note, it's good to see we can compete and also be the better team against the top sides in the division. Any other day, we'd have won that game comfortably, which is at least something worth taking away from the game.

Impressive stuff at home again from us. Swindon shaded a high quality first half which featured two absolutely superb goals. Thought Jack Payne was fantastic and Swindon’s movement and one-touch footer was a joy to watch at times.

Second half we did what we’ve been doing regularly at Brisbane Road recently and just steamrolled them. Drinaldo was superb again and our physicality and athleticism was too much for Swindon’s pretty passing football and wobbly defence. The fourth was an unwarranted (and illegal, considering the obvious foul) gloss on the score line, but I thought we were clearly two goals better on the night.

No need for Swindon heads to drop - they’re comfortably the best footballing side we’ve faced, though FGR remain head and shoulders above everyone overall.

Your own gaffer said he wasn’t sure you did enough to win it
No, but a draw would have been fair. Your 'gaffer' seems to think you deserved a win, which seems bullish in the extreme.

A 4-0 away win is always great but what made last night's result even better was that every goal scored was by a different FGR player.

Sutton beat themselves. Red card was a Labadie-style "hardest kid in the playground" over-the-ball foul and the pen was a rugby tackle in stoppage time on a player posing no threat.

The red card incident is available from about 27 seconds in from the start of the highlights. One could argue that Eastmond wins the ball cleanly and then the Newport player hits the trailing foot

You can actually see Eastmond making an extra effort mid-tackle to raise the studs-up foot he hits Willmott with to catch him higher up his leg.

I'm clearly biased but you are clutching at straws there old boy. Can't see that challenge being anything other than a red.

Poor performance against Scunthorpe who are the worst side I have seen at this level. Trust Tisdale to turn it around though. We aint going anywhere this season.

We have like 8 first team injuries, you’re not the only team to have injuries you know?

Not being funny but you talk about entitled…
All you hear from Vale fans is how great they are this season and they looked poor vs 9 men and a side who are also swamped with injuries.
Even their bench tried to keep the ball and waste time. Plus their guy at the end took an eternity to take a throw-in, without any warning from the ref. Harries gets his 2nd yellow at Colchester for taking about 9 seconds. So inconsistent and usually at our expense.
Football gods are definitely not with us this season with the decisions on top of the injuries. Red cards need to be addressed sharpish though as many are avoidable and the one thing we can control.

We have had an excellent season but in fairness all our injuries are isolated to strikers or wingers, hence we had a box to box midfielder up front (didn't let us down to be fair). If we had Wilson or Procs available we win that 4 or 5-1 like we were a few weeks ago.

First half we were playing some lovely stuff, the ball to put us through for the second was beautiful.

Issue we had second half was losing Worrall and Rodney left us with just Dennis up front so ended up sitting back against the wind inviting pressure as we had to field 9 more defensive players but felt we dealt with the threat well.

As for timewasting everyone does it and we just did a professional job to see it out in the end rather than take risks against 9 men.

Fact we are still winning despite our forward line being completely decimated is testament to the boys, especially with one of those being at a league club from the level above, if we can grind it out until the big players up front are back we have a good chance.

You failed to mention Morris hitting the woodwork for us, forcing a worldy save from the keeper, Hawkes' goalbound shot deflected wide, Jolley missing another very good chance after scoring.....

A draw would arguably have been a fair result, but we took one of our chances, and Oldham did not, which is why they are struggling.

Jolley looks a completely different player to the one that was out of his depth last season. Our best player by a mile tonight, and not much chance of Chester getting him back any time soon I would imagine.
Firstly I agree that we improved no end when Morris was introduced and were well on top for the last quarter hour. That begs the question of why it took so long to bring him on when Macmanaman was proving ineffective.

However the only decent chance we had pre-Morris was the deflected Hawkes chance towards the end of the first half. We were lucky Oldham weren’t as clinical as Orient or they’d have been out of sight before Kieron was brought on.

Apparently Jolley looked decent in our pre season fixtures at Stalybridge and Warrington. Suprised this lad was given a chance in our earlier EFL trophy games.

With respect, if we had our first team too and weren’t down to 10 men from the 10th minute, you wouldn’t have played such “lovely stuff” and certainly wouldn’t have won 4/5-1. Not a chance.

You can’t bring imaginary fit players back to a perfect scenario but then assume the opposition stays the same.

You did play the referee very well with time wasting I agree, if he isn’t going to punish you then that’s his problem, not yours. This is also why fans got annoyed with him, the throw-in on the 93rd minute took 33 seconds and wasn’t even asked to speed up. The GK started time wasting from the 60th minute, but wasn’t asked at all.

I’m surprised at yours/fellow Vale fans’ comments to say that we must be entitled to want a fairer referee when the Port Vale manager himself said that he was absolutely in your favour. Is he entitled too?

Considering the comments on here, id say the entitlement is quite the other way around.

Completely agree. I always find the Vale lot to ne entitled and disrespectful to other teams. Their fans have a superiority complex. I mean they didnt even like Robert Page. They completely destroyed Danny and Dean Glover and they got rid of Gannon who was a terrific manager

I think one fan said it? Its not really about entitlement we've had a bizarre injury crisis in that every striker including 2 youth options are now out injured and the back up winger options also bar Politic who is playing with a niggle.

I dont think the referee got any "big" decisions wrong, easier to see on ifollow than in the ground though in fairness, the Dazzler was being classy because it was Rovers. We've had some awful referee decisions so pleased to get the rub of the green for once.

Rovers just need to get a decent manager, when down to 10 men you were still pinging it around the back line on a wet surface allowing us to hunt you down in packs and I would argue the discipline comes from the top down, you tried to make the second half a battle, rile our players and play the referee, the dive for the penalty claim was ridiculous. You actually seemed ok when you got the ball down and played but seemed more intent on a scrap rather than try and zip it around on a slick pitch.

As for the lovely stuff, we've played it against better sides and 11 men this season, its the one thing keeping us ticking along with no strike force... and Ben Garrity of course! Its credit to the Rovers legend in charge in fairness I dont think I have ever seen us have some a win record that we have had in the past 31 league games and cup ties in between. Hopefully long may it continue and he can reach the same status with Vale fans.

Christ some dark memories dug up there! (apart from Page I thought he was ok but tactically inept away from home).

Dean Glover will always be a legend of the club... but why its never great to return as manager when a playing icon.

Shit! Shit! Shit!

Now I'm going to be sat in the Dunes Hotel watching reruns of last nights 5-0 triumph until the grin fades.

It was going to be my first Football League game at Holker Street since 1968.

Wasn't a bad game considering the conditions, although TBH I hadn't noticed the wind until we were up against it in the second half.
We all thought that that last chance was in from our end.
Draw would've been acceptable but an eight hour round trip from Hampshire is always worth it for a good and unexpected three points.
Thought that the ref was good, allowing for the conditions.
