Stephen Quinn done his annual liability red card, we are literally on the cusp of a complete disaster this season from lack of players and he goes and puts in a horrendous tackle because he got mardy. Should be fined by the club.

We never had a chance in the game with the injuries we’ve got anyway, imagine a side having to play 2 forwards as wing backs as you’re that fucked, it’s incredible.

As for quinn - we’re away at promotion rivals, we’re ravaged by injuries and he does that, he’ll get more than the 3 games. what an extraordinarily daft thing to do.

If i were clough i’d leave the c*** in northampton to make his own way back

The ship for mansfield reaching the top 3 has sailed tonight, not that it was really in harbour to start off with.

McLaughlin just come off the bench back from Injury after a few month and he’s gone straight back off injured you couldn’t fucking write it!

That’s our only LB at the club. This is a shambles.

No complaints with that.

In fairness with the injuries we’ve got we never had a chance and so it proved.

If that was a game played between 23rd and 24th you wouldn’t have known, dreadful game.

Quinn wants fining the maximum and training with the kids, utter twat.

It was pretty clear tonight neither Northampton or Mansfield had many players left, it looked like a L2 game at the bottom end of the table but they were better than us and deserve the win.

I can forgive the performance considering the circumstances, we desperately missed Akins upfront because neither DJ or Dunn can hold up the ball but we had no choice to slot Akins at RWB.

Honestly we are in such a desperate situation for players that may just tip us over in to some drastic poor form because we are quite literally out of options, I’m worried about getting in the play-offs nevermind top three.

My word that was poor. Not good enough for Sutton up front combined with a solid defence meant that not a single good chance was created to equalise.

top 3 isn’t an option it’s done.

Only hope we’ve got is that our run isn’t the worst

Out of curiosity how many times did our keeper go down with cramp near the end,? He always does it when we’re winning a tight game so I’ll guess at 3 or 4 times?

We will get bullied 2-0 or 3-0 here, fully expecting pretty much everybody rested for the quarter final, fill yer fucking boots Sutton.
Well well well, and this is why I don’t gamble on the football anymore. :bg:

Just what I expected. Textbook as soon as people talk weakened sides. Not a single shot on goal, easy shut out. Mid table cup well on now.

As an avowed fan of the dark arts I was impressed by how often your keeper went down, especially considering how little he actually had to do tonight

At least once. Was also jogging back to take a drink before his free kicks up on the half way line. Didn’t seem any need given how comfortable you were!

The total lack of creativity was frustrating. Too many high balls in the general direction of the penalty area.

Grimsby did a good job in marking out Will Randall who has probably been our most creative player all season.

A week and a half before our next game doesn’t seem like such a bad thing right now. Other than easily beating a poor Crawley side, we haven’t looked that convincing so far in March

I thought if we somehow won there was half a chance, but with northampton and stevenage winning.

With macca presumably not starting stockport and quinn out a loss is inevitable

Results are a shame tonight as we’re relying on other teams dropping points given the run of fixtures we have coming up.

Tonight was a case of we managed to get a more coherent team out. We looked more secure at the back even with all the changes we’ve had to make, and I think we had the upper hand throughout the game.

Felt like we were in control first half and Mansfield missed the first big chance they created. Start of the second half it felt like we’d just started to sit off and were letting Mansfield in. Up step Stephen Quinn with a fucking shameful tackle which should see him banned for more than 3 games, absolutely no attempt to win the ball and 100% attempt to injure Bowie. Killed the game and killed Mansfield just when they’d started to get a bit of the ball and then the only question was could we get a second.

Missed a hatful of chances at the end and it should have been 3 or 4 but 1 was enough. Looked as if Appere and Sowerby carried knocks as they came off which would be frankly mental.

Felt a lot more optimism inside Sixfields tonight, good crowd and good atmosphere to boot.

It’s a disaster of a night, lost to promotional rival, lost Quinn three games and lost our one and only LB in the space of 20 minutes after being out for ages. Got go pick up my Stockport ticket Thursday

You should have won though, with that team we had we never had a chance, as we’ve been saying for a while.

tbh had we played rochdale or crawley tonight with the side we were able to put out they’d probably have been favourites, we’re so hopelessly fucked it’s unreal.

Still that’s a mansfield problem and not a you problem, maybe it might be a springboard for confidence for you.

It felt a lot more optimistic at Sixfields tonight that’s for sure. Apparently it’s now one defeat in ten but it really doesn’t feel like that, hopefully a springboard like you say. Crewe at home Saturday and a win to follow up would be massive. However question marks again over a couple of players tonight and whether they’ll be fit for Saturday.

Chuffed with that, decent battles all over the pitch that we largely came out on top of. Can see why Sutton's approach often comes off, got some big units and like to whip the ball in, it's often going to drop once or twice a game. But we defended well, only one decent opening for them was when possibly Morris got too tight to Dennis (I think) and he jinked inside from the left side, forcing a fairly comfortable save from Crocombe at his near post, when a shot across goal might have been the better option. Plus a fairly decent headed chance towards the end of the first half that went over. Imagine their xG was probably about 0.5 for them two efforts.

Other than our goal, which was a flick by Taylor to Lloyd who deftly slid in Efete, having gambled from right wing back, and he scuffily placed it into the corner from about 15 yards, we didn't really look like adding to it other than a few balls flashed across the box. Proper satisfying goal though for a team playing wing backs. Saw it our fairly comfortably, Waterfall his usual colossal self. Pretty good way to go into our biggest cup game in 89 years

Feels like a massive win for us tonight, we have three incredibly tough matches coming up between now and the Easter double header, so really pleasing to come away with all three points against a stubborn and organised Crewe side.

First half was lackluster, neither keeper worked in any fashion, we probably shaded the possession and generally had more attacking purpose but we did next to nothing with it. Crewe were very well organised and handled the little we threw their way with ease.

Having failed to muster even an effort on goal in the first half, improving in the second half wasn't going to be too difficult and we started to have a little more joy after the break. We had a series of half chances and forced a load of corners, March probably went closest to opening the scoring but his effort was well saved by the goalkeeper.

With 10-15 minutes left to play we managed to get the winning goal, some clever and incisive play to capitalise on a bit of fortune in the build up to the goal. Crewe had a defender down injured (not a head injury), Smith had the ball in our defensive half and lofted the ball forward to Jamie Reid who was being played onside by the aforementioned injured defender, he still had a lot to do, with his back to goal he had to take the ball down, turn and fire in an effort from about 25 yards out. I think it may have taken a slight deflection off of one of the onrushing Crewe defenders, seemed to add a bit of extra zip to the strike.

After that we looked more likely to add a second than concede a leveller, Bostwick managed to missing three great chances, including an effort off the bar and then the rebound from within the six yard box.

Wasn't vintage by any stretch but was hugely important, particularly given we have to go to Carlisle and Northampton in our next two away games with Salford at home wedged in between. I can't see us getting maximum or close to maximum points from these three which makes the six points from six in the last couple of days fairly significant.

If it makes you feel better, we’ve scored one goal in our last four games and that was from a corner.
