We were terrible, no atmosphere in the away end and some shocking performances from experienced players. We can forget promotion for another season and hopefully Clough gets his P45 in May

Win your two games in hand, one of which is v us with hangover next Weds, and you are in the box seat for the playoffs

Just lump it behind our defenders or towards our wing backs (if you can call them that) and you’ll win

Chuffed with that, decent battles all over the pitch that we largely came out on top of. Can see why Sutton's approach often comes off, got some big units and like to whip the ball in, it's often going to drop once or twice a game. But we defended well, only one decent opening for them was when possibly Morris got too tight to Dennis (I think) and he jinked inside from the left side, forcing a fairly comfortable save from Crocombe at his near post, when a shot across goal might have been the better option. Plus a fairly decent headed chance towards the end of the first half that went over. Imagine their xG was probably about 0.5 for them two efforts.

Other than our goal, which was a flick by Taylor to Lloyd who deftly slid in Efete, having gambled from right wing back, and he scuffily placed it into the corner from about 15 yards, we didn't really look like adding to it other than a few balls flashed across the box. Proper satisfying goal though for a team playing wing backs. Saw it our fairly comfortably, Waterfall his usual colossal self. Pretty good way to go into our biggest cup game in 89 years
Yeah it wasn't pretty but that was a gutsy performance from us. Very satisfying. Great response from the team. Could have easily gone on and been distracted by the Brighton match but they've taken 7 points from 9 after that Carlisle defeat. Great spirit shown last night, nobody backing out of tackles at all when you're potentially facing yellows and reds and suspensions ahead of an FA Cup QF. Hursty showing off his massive balls by leaving Clifton on on a yellow for a third of the match! Won't be many teams that go to Sutton and leaving having outfought them with a clean sheet and three points.

We were fucking embarrassing last night. Quinns a fucking moron but at least a 3 game rest will do him good but would've helped if we had a decent midfielder to come in for him that wasn't Boateng

The only thing that is keeping a few teams still in with a shout of the POs is that we are all quite shit. We were dreadful last night by all accounts but still picked up a point on Sutton and Mansfield. Still don’t think we’ll scrape 7th but stranger things have happened - like that horse becoming Pope.

Well if that isn't the sort of empty headed posting that belongs on Stagsnet I don't know what is

A huge result for us in what was a strange game. Not the highest quality game with both squads having so many out although I have never seen a shirt number 9 at full back as Mansfield had with Bowery (he actually did ok all things considered).

Think we just about deserved it in the end. Mansfield were unable to build up any sustained pressure after the red card. I'd be raging at Quinn, an experienced pro who completely lost his head after not being awarded a foul, I called it as soon as he got up you could see he was about to fly in.

We should have put the game to bed in the end, lost of chances with balls in behind the channels but the game petered out without any real scares. Good numbers from Mansfield for a Tuesday but much quieter than usual (understandable considering the team), also was freezing last night.

Good performances from Hondermark and Leonard yesterday. Also Lintott continues to improve at RB/RWB, surprised Gills let him go at the end of last season as he seems to have plenty of room to grow, destined to play above this level for sure. Max Dyche made a few errors that would have been punished on another day but glad he was part of a defence keeping a clean sheet, hopefully his confidence grows.

We are still not really convincing but we are picking up results again and are right in the mix for the autos, could see us just coming up short still though.

A special bit of praise for Sam Hoskins. Mr Marmite in previous seasons but hes up to 19 league goals this season now, we have not had a 20 league goal scorer since 86/87 (longest stretch of FL clubs) so hopefully he can hit that milestone on Saturday.

Thought we were pretty comfortable and it should have finished 3 or 4

I think Northampton deserved the win, and Quinn should be punished for being an absolute moron, but him not getting that blatant foul just before he lost it was a constant throughout the game with that referee it’s embarrassing the likes of him are in our professional game but us lot in L2 expect that most weeks now unfortunately.

What did Northampton manager get a booking for anyway? I did briefly see some post match comments from him, you won mate chill out.

I dont know if there is a list of manager bookings but i would be shocked if he is not top of it. He is the most animated of any Cobblers manager I can remember tbh. Its not a bad thing for us, hes hugely passionate about the club and the area, but I can imagine it winding others up. It still annoys me that a lot of our players get booked for mouthing off at the ref too much (Hoskins in particular). The manager cant pull them up on it as he is just as bad.
