Were they not formed first? That being the case, it would of course mean you're the 2nd MTFC

No. It's done on who was in the league first.

Either way, Macclesfield are a nice little club, decent fans and some good pubs. Beats going to Wycombe for me.

Macclesfield going up is a typical 2000 plus away following for us so get them up with Wrexham or Tranmere, losing Grimsby and Barnet ideally as we take decent numbers to Chesterfield...

If Notts County and Coventry stay down and with Bury (take 1000 plus up to 2000 there on occasions) get Rochdale, Northampton and Walsall down with them hopefully with improved Vale side we will get back to the Micky Adams days of averaging well over 700 away. (Think one year it was 900!)

Might help though if we start winning away after about six away wins in two years and twelve in 3!

It’s going to look even more emptier in that vast bowl than it already does! The massive seating means visually it looks sparse as it is. Have they actually got that much money as they’ve had two very meh seasons since relegation?
Depending on how they do, I imagine they will attract crowds of around 7,000-8,000. Which, if Luton go up will be the highest in the league behind only Coventry and Lincoln (if their bandwagon fans keep going).

But yeah, 30,000 seater stadium and 8,000 fans doesn’t look great. Last time they were in this division in 2007/08 with the likes of McLeod they dominated. Won the league and JPT.

Wrexham aren’t going to be promoted this season, their play-off place looks very doubtful now.

Winkelman hasn’t spent a penny barely since they got promoted to the Championship, much to the displeasure of their “supporters”. And I wouldn’t argue with the fact they were being left behind in L1. They are also losing millions every year.

League One
Bury were the first Football League team to be relegated after a 3-2 home defeat by Northampton on 14 April, but the Cobblers [Northampton] could join them next weekend.

League Two

Luton will be promoted if they beat Carlisle on Saturday or if Exeter lose to Crawley.

The bottom two teams will be relegated to the National League. Barnet and Chesterfield, who currently occupy those spots, could both be relegated next weekend.

National League
Leaders Macclesfield are assured of at least a play-off place, and will be promoted if they beat Eastleigh on Saturday or if Tranmere lose at Halifax.

Like Stevenage under Westley when they came up?
Not even slightly. Westley is a twat and his teams play horrible football but there's nothing wrong with Stevenage either as a club or as fans.

Boreham Wood are a whole different thing, I would remove any valuables from the stadium before they visit and have someone stand guard over the team bus when you go down there, and that's just the staff.

Last time we played them, they trashed the dressing room and then threatened to sue us when we complained to the FA.

Also, as others have pointed out, they charge the media covering away teams for the privilege of reporting from their stadium and I'm sure they also eat children and make a sacrifice to Baal before each match.

It doesn't matter to us who comes down or up as no-one is anywhere near us anyway.

We had a bigger budget this season than we did in the championship... I honestly have no idea what will happen, we should have one of the biggest budgets in the league, but that means absolutely nothing if we continue to spend it poorly as we have since we got promoted to the championship. Whoever is our new manager HAS to have the pulling power that Martin Allen did the first time we were here to bring in players that are probably too good for the league.

Only good news is that both Chuks Aneke and Alex Gilbey have both said they want to stay no matter what league we are, Chuks I don't mind selling but he'd easily be one of the better players in the league, and Gilbey is far too good for League 2 so that's a bonus when he's fit again.

half the players in league two seem to be far too good for league two.

any of the Dons fans know what happened to Scumarmy by the way?

Disappeared from here, and hasn't joined our new forum after the guy that ran it had a hissy fit me closed the website. Haven't heard from him in months tbh.

I did wonder if Gilbey might be moving on again in the summer. Seems a shame for him really as before he moved he seemed to be fancied more than Max Power by the Wigan fans so his fortunes could have been quite different.

Despite my hatred for their team i’d like to welcome Dippy and his fellow Franchise fans to the league 2 forum. As stated before, when we were in league 1 I had some good conversations with Franchise fans. Their choice of football teams may be questionable but on the whole, they seem decent.

You, us, MK and, if they come down, Walsall, can all reminisce about that 2006/07 season.

Now *that* was a proper league, that year. Brilliant sides in it.

Was that the season we played you live on TV? I think we won 3-2 and Lee Peacock scored.

Yep, quite late in the season IIRC. Think it may have been a Sunday lunch time KO.

That was a good season... Walsall took about 4,000 to Swindon if I recall in a late top of the table clash 1st vs 2nd... who won it that season?? Walsall?

Yeah Walsall scored a beauty last game of the season to win the championship. Dean Keates if memory serves. Right in front of their travelling fans as well!

I remember that game well remember watching the highlights... Swindon won late on 1-0 at Gigg that season with not many games left.. may have even been the one before the Walsall match. Swindon brought a good following that day maybe 800 or so...

That was a season to remember for Hartlepool fans too. They had an insane 25 odd matches unbeaten run that was bookended by defeats to us! There was also Stockport, who with a young Wayne Hennessy in goal managed to set a new League records of 9 matches without conceding a goal until they lost 3-1 to us again!

I wonder how those clubs are doing now...?

Aye Stockport had just broke the clean sheets record then Dale rocked up and stuck 7 past them at home.

Shame Bury were dreadful that season, our lowest ever league finish to date, 21st. But we somehow managed to beat Walsall 1-0 away to secure our safety!

Darlington away late in that season (Chris Brass overhead kick own goal game) where we won 3-2 in the last minute possibly the most important victory in the clubs history.

Funny how time makes the memories of that season more fond than they were.

We broke Stockport’s clean sheet run, not Rochdale. That must have been the following match.

And we beat you in the FA Cup to advance to the 4th round for the very first time thanks to a Jason Puncheon piledriver!

Haha yes, I remember that. The initial game was postponed and we had player comps for the rearranged tie, sat in the corner of the home stand running alongside the pitch.

Typical us really - the first time we ever started in the Third Round by default and we get knocked out by a team two divisions below!

We were on fire until February, then we beat Walsall away 2-1 on Sky and the season just turned and we went from challenging for the title and auto's to then struggling for the PO's.

Bristol Rovers had a brilliant run in the second half of the season, got into the PO's late on and won them.

That was the start of Posh spending their money on NL players as well.

Don't think there's any real change in L1 as a result of last nights games.

In NL, it's unlikely that Wrexham will get into the PO's despite having a chance. They have Fylde who will probably only need a point and Sutton and Aldershot play each other for that 3rd place, which means something in this new NL PO system that's a load of bollocks anyway.

Dover play a Woking side who could go down even if they win and Boring Wood play already relegated Guiseley, Ebbsfleet already relegated Torquay (but can't get third because of Sutton and Aldershot playing each other) and Bromley a tricky one at Maidenhead.
