Thankfully for us there's nothing riding on it. Did not look the case back at the end of January when this looked like it could be a decider for staying up. Regardless this will probably be very bittersweet either way for John Askey given his history with them.

Macc could potentially seal survival though think it will go to the last day as fancy Notts to win v Grimsby. As with the MK game I hope we do the morally right thing and play our best possible team and give it our all and am sure that will be the case with a number of our squad playing for their futures.

Could of been an awful event had we not got our act together... Thankfully we can smoke our cigars and dream of Benidorm...

Hopefully we put the same application and effort in as we did at MK on Monday to keep the integrity of the competition and respect Notts County and Yeovil...

I think we will and I fancy us on current form to win this 2-0. Pope and Monty.

Highly unlikely Manny will be available I'm afraid, probably done for the season. Our home record has been an absolute disgrace this year so want us to at least go out with a win not repeat some of the final home games we've had in recent years. Our effort at MK has indicated to me we will try our best and do right by yourselves and Yeovil.

Thanks. Is Miller injured? And is the lad Elliott any good?

Miller was in the away end at MK on Monday, picked up a knock. Whether he is fit for this one I don't know. Elliott has something about him in fairness albeit based on limited time on the field, has some pace at least. I like the idea of him or Miller running the channels and tiring out the defenders for Pope to come on with about 20 to go. Has seemed to be very effective for us recently with Northampton and Crewe coming to mind.

Like the look of Elliott, was playing in Spain’s lower leagues after a spell in the US College leagues but is a Nottingham lad actually. Was in Forest and Villa youths.

Raw and not had a pre season but pacey, powerful and something we’ve lacked. Hope we give him a chance to earn a deal next season even if just a six month deal.

That said if Macc are missing the ex Bury centre half and struggle with set pieces id be throwing Pope in from the start!

I like the look of Elliott who seems to have pace and a few tricks, although I think this game is set up for Pope up front. I'm sure we will finish our home season on a high.

I've said in other threads, I expect us to win. Macclesfield have got an awful away record and I think we will play to win.

Nervous about this one. Got to aim for the win assuming the worst happens elsewhere. If Jules, Kelleher and MWH can replicate the performance they put in on Monday then we may well grind out a result. We'll need the attacking players to up their game from last weekend though.

If your relying on Zak Jules you are screwed! Based on his one forgettable appearance in a Vale shirt Worrall will absolutely murder him on his current form!

No wonder you are struggling. Jules is one of the worst footballers I've ever seen. He was laughably bad and we've seen some shockers at the vale. He had no control, no balance, probably the lowest we've got to as a football club.

I remember fearing the worst when he arrived but he's actually been very good for us - quick and pretty good on the ball for a centre half. Definitely one to keep next season. I imagine he'll take a few Vale fans by surprise on Saturday.

Jules has been fine, much better than your reviews / highlights of his time at Vale.

No chance of it but I really hope we play 4-4-2 otherwise it'll just be relying on more hopeful high through balls. Has Askey got you playing possession based football with lots of passing in midfield yet? If so, our CMs are going be knackered after 10 mins scampering sideways trying to pick up spare men and get near the ball.

We're certainly playing a lot more than we did under Aspin and at times have played some really nice stuff on the deck to be fair. When he came in he didn't change much initially but since switching to 4-3-3 and utilising a high pressing game we look a much improved team. Also helped with him getting the best out of David Worrall on the wing.

I'll be amazed if he's improved any. Didn't look anything like a footballer to me.

Definitely a lot more football than under aspin and at times we've looked pretty competent. However, I'm not sure our players have the ability to play the way that askey wants and so I'm expecting more consistency next season when he's signed a couple of his own players. I like the way he has gone about things and bar a couple of blips, the football in the past 2 months has been far superior, which is impressive considering our team is pretty shite.

Basically if we can't beat a team with Zak Jules in their defence we have serious issues to address.
We have had some absolute tripe on loan/ non contract in the past but he is definitely in my top 3 of worst footballers ever to disgrace a Port Vale shirt .
Sorry Zak nothing personal.

Having read the Macc fans comments maybe he has improved beyond recognition.
Cue a Maldini-esque performance tomorrow .

COME ON MACC!

I'm just thinking, get Yeovil relegated so when we play them on the final day they've nowt to play for. It's their own fault for not having a messageboard.

nothing being said at the moment, I would expect something at 1.00 maybe given the short distance for the away fans.
Hopefully. I'm in Chapel, so heading off pretty soon.

For any Notts fans and Yeovil fans worrying... Vale make one change young Elliott out for top scorer Pope so essentially as strong a XI as he could name.
