The rugby/cricket being on and the football off makes no sense. Either you call off everything or nothing. Most people can reluctantly accept it if it’s everything that goes, but if it’s just football then it’s gonna annoy people.

Once again a shambolic lack of leadership from the government.
I agree it doesn’t make sense at all but I don’t think it is entirely the government’s fault this time. They gave each sport the opportunity to decide what to do. Football postponed its games, the rest didn’t. I think our beef should be with the FA and EFL.

I fully understand why horse racing would stop given the connection between the Queen and racing, she was such an ambassador for that sport. But I don’t get any other sport being postponed aside from any possible policing impact, and I can’t imagine much lower league football being big enough to have a material impact.

If it’s any guide the test match and the womens T20 will get under way tomorrow so based on that would think the final will go ahead as planned.

Depends when the funeral is I’m guessing but if it’s not on the Saturday I see no reason for it to not go ahead.

Just had a quick look on our forum. Nobody is against respecting the queen but there has been no thought been put into this by the EFL. I no longer go away but i would be livid if i had forked out on Trains,Hotels etc.
We are only at the start of September and this would be the third away game people from Bolton have lost money through no fault of their own.
The other two obviously train strikes,.Add the warm welcome offered by Stoke Police and i can see plenty knocking football on the head when money gets tight come the recession

This is one area where the Government are not to blame at all.

The stupid pricks running football have excelled themselves! They now look incredibly stupid and have pissed so many people off into the bargain!

I think the funeral will be a week Monday from what the daily mail is saying ( not the bastion of credibility I grant you )
So next Saturday might be ok to go ahead
That is unless we are told to continue grieving and every tv channel continues to suspend its programming for a cycle repeat of the same stories.
Thank god for Netflix and YouTube

Next Saturday games expected to be off according to someone at the Telegraph. After trains to Sheffield were cancelled, I was forced to fork out for a hotel for the Friday and Saturday nights. Plus the trains on the Friday and Sunday. Will get no refund on the hotel for sure.

All because the EFL want to show themselves to be doing something.

It’s a world where being seen to be grieving is more important than grieving itself.

I've seen reports that the football leagues are starting to think they've jumped the gun a bit and are regretting the decision now.

EFL are based in Preston, was always going to happen as Dave who’s on a zero hours contract at Home Bargains sees Sanjay who came to the UK 50 years ago driving a Lexus as he worked for it but Dave is like “but Asian grooming gangs”

So they’ll listen to what the locals say/are fed.
