I was surprised aswell last week v Mansfield especially after having all our loan players including the top scorer recalled. The new players who came in gelled straight away with the team and have injected a new energy into the mix hopefullywe can now kick on .,sounds like the new goalie played well today and Charlie Brown 2nd goal in 2 games won it today for us

Archie Mair will forever be a legend at Meadow Lane - sounds like a bit of a switch in the loanees might've been what you needed.

Pete Wild turning to shit in the new year when people start thinking they could be up there. Did it at Halifax, did it last year with Barrow too. Very much an underdog manager.

Won 3-1, should have won 6-1. After a shaky first ten minutes we controlled the game for the duration and should and could have scored a lot more than we did. Onto the next one, the perfect start to 2024 continues!

Best performance in the league against the Stags so far this season.

Certainly the best side i’ve seen us play away, i was really impressed with the performance on the day, though they were the worst side i’ve seen come to field mill this season, by some distance.

Still would plump for wimbledon at home for the best performance i’ve seen against us this season mind.

I can't believe Morecambe have taken points off Stags and now won at MK since we did them 5-0 just after Christmas. They looked completely shambolic.

Earlier in the season when we drew 0-0 away was when we were told they were dump and should be beating them.

They've obviously improved lots since then and (like many) are far better at home than away. That 5-0 shellacking at Meadow Lane not long back is now looking even more of a stunning result. Good set of results today for anyone who didn't play in the top 10.

Feels like there'll be a pitch invasion at the end here.
The Exiles might have rued those misses on another day but they were rarely troubled by one of League Two's most potent attacks.

And while Wrexham struggled to impose themselves on the game all afternoon, the narrow margin of victory did not reflect how comfortable a win this was for Newport.

These quotes from BBC WREX....sorry Wales

Watched the second half of Newport vs Wrexham, obviously down to 10 men but they failed to do anything at all and it was comfortable for Newport.

Huge shock at Priestfield as Gills drop points to a team in the relegation zone for the 9th time this season. Quite the record. It was a dire game.
Better to give points to teams that actually need them and aren't any threat to you...rather than one that you are fighting for a place in the play-offs against.

We've scored 11 goals in 13 games away this season. Completely different team away from the Racecourse.

We are getting used to playing with 10 men now though, the 5-3-1 is still a solid formation as Mullin does the work of 2 up front anyway.

We need to bring a CB in, one who can stay fit for longer than 5 minutes and stay on the pitch generally. I want Boyle to be fired in a rocket to the sun.

Dalby going off for O'Connell probably increased our chances of scoring.

Had a bad feeling about today and so it proved. Fully deserved win for Crewe, the worst we've played all season, especially second half. We've had a solid first half of the season based off being strong defensively, now we're conceding some sloppy goals. We don't have enough going forward to win games when we concede one or two, and that's why we won't trouble the top three. All about clinging onto a playoff spot.

Chuffed with that win, especially given Barrow beat us a few weeks ago when we were so decimated by injuries. We've still got a few, but much stronger now and that showed today, after the 1st 10 minutes, we've wiped the floor with Barrow today. After ending Mansfields unbeaten home run, to do it to Barrow aswell is fantastic. Away form has so often been our achilles heel, but this season and this team we just seem to be build differently this time. So.much more heart and determination than a stereotypical Crewe team. Starting to feel pretty secure in the play offs now and looking at what's above us more than what is below.

Wish our game had been called off. Crewe had control of the midfield, defended better and carved out more chances.

First home defeat in the middle of January says that it was just a bad day for us, but Crewe had our tactics sussed pretty early on.

Hopefully we can just plod on and keep ourselves in the play-off places.

Cracking looking stand tbf.

Seriously though decent performance from us for once. Could even have nicked it. Gillingham looked pretty toothless, Hawkins aerial presence the only real threat, apart from a brief spell midway through the second half. Our new signings actually look good, Osadebe especially.

I watched that second half and was worried even I might pick up a booking. That ref was beyond ridiculous

BBC Wales are mostly interested in Cardiff and Swansea. Then Rugby. Then Wrexham. . No-one cares about Newport though, last time I went through there there was a car just abandoned on a roundabout, looked like it had been there for weeks. Probably the most shithole of towns in a league full of shitholes. Absolutely dead place.

Good win today and a good warm up for next week. Should’ve got 3 or 4 but spurned some great chances. Squad starting to approach full strength - still 2-3 starters out but getting there slowly. Charsley and Wildig ran midfield, solid at the back and 2 strikers who will run all day with no little akill either as today’s goal showed. Clear red card - Boyle knew what he was doing and raked his studs across McLaughlins thigh after winning the ball. Bloke looks like a Newport fan and plays like one. Gogs didn’t turn up on or off the park - very quiet all game.

Nothing quite beats a calling the town we just lost to a shithole on a football forum. Inject it Newport fans.

Where have these Newport fans spawned from? Not heard from them all season.

You’ll be rate, take it on the chin.
Loss doesn't really change anything, we'll still win the majority of our home games and go up. The window shuts before our next league game so we'll probably replace the suspended Boyle and bring in a forward by then.

Doesn't change what I've said the majority of this season, Stockport, Wrexham and Mansfield to go up.

Stockport and Mansfield fans going out of their way to search for a stream of our game and it's only January. This run-in is going to be epic on here.
