I said this the other day, when it comes to a frozen pitch you want a small ground with small stands that don't block the sun from getting to all the pitch. Look at the games that are on. MK Dons is the exception because they have undersoil heating. And Gillingham is in France.

Despite not having a heavy frost last night, my garden is still rock hard this morning in places and I live in a village about 4miles from Valley Parade
I’ve just been on the fields opposite your training ground and it’s completely soft, your groundsmen have properly ballsed this one up

Maybe that’s the way forward, over the summer move the west stand to where the bishop st is, but leave where the the west stand is now empty so we still have 3 stands.

Thatll allow those who are fixated over us having 3 stands to continue while allowing the sun to sort the pitch.

Bonus.

Our match will be on, but the pitch has been awful for a couple of months and the weather is disgusting - it usually kills off any chance of good football. One of those days where a goal either way will win it.

The groundsmen didn't call it off.

Apperley Bridge, where the training ground is, is the lowest area geographically in Bradford and therefore ground temperatures can vary quite a bit. If you know the area well, I live near Idle Moor area, my dad lives near Apperley Bridge, and despite being just over a mile apart, he gets far less snow and ice than I do.

However, I agree, I think the pitch inspection was far too early and should have been done this morning, especially with the relatively short distance for away fans to travel.

People don’t understand how much things can change in such a small distance especially with frost, there’s a street to the backlanes near me which goes higher and sometimes you can literally see the line where the frost starts.

First time I went down to MK Dons, the game was called off because of a frozen pitch.

I wasn't going to the game as I can't afford to buy Wimbledon's stadium to watch a game so no problem with the game off.

Does seem ok here though and we're only 10 miles south.

Hardest groundsman job in EFL as Mick. We have a history of very poor drainage and without spending a fortune going very deep to excavate, it's not going to get much better.

We did spend a bit a couple of years ago and last season was the best condition the pitch has stayed in all season. However, I think the very wet last few months and the match we played against Stockport at Christmas in appalling conditions has ruined it for the rest of season.

Looking at the fixture list, we are not alone though today with other games falling by the wayside

I didn't think our game should have gone ahead tbh. Said as much at the time. Ruined the game, ruined your pitch, the corners and sides were quite waterlogged which gave the referee enough rope to fuck it off IMO.

Very last minute decision to postpone, wasn't it? Unfortunately, it was a time before the undersoil heating was completed. If I remember, the pipes were installed, but not the entire system. Been fully completed since about 2009/10 though.

Fair play to Barrow using to its full benefits the power of a local nuclear reactor to keep the game on.

Quite a few players missing for us today, going to be a tough battle in Newport's Cup Final.

It's the setting for the Redemption of Will Boyle. He's going to score the winner with a booming header from a set piece.

O'Connor out for a few weeks is a massive blow, he's been brilliant recently, Fletcher missing certainly makes us weaker. Always worry when Boyles is the back line. Slowest man I've seen on a pitch

Boyle is a NLN standard defender. Horrendous signing he's been. We need a miracle here now.
