Sad to announce I am hitting the panic button if we don’t win Tuesday. The panic button is situated very closely to the Maynard Out button. That was hopeless today, Crewe managed the game very well but we were so disjointed and unbalanced in every facet of the game. Some might say we are beleaguered.
The mistakes are for the coach to sort out, certainly. The organisation for the first in particular is real schoolboy stuff, as was the defending leading up to it. Tuesday will be a very different proposition to basically every game he's had so far though, it will tell us a lot.

Fairly comfortable afternoon for the Alex I thought. Got a couple of early goals as Notts did their usual "can't defend, won't defend" routine. But then they improved and knocked it around nicely, had a few decent chances in the first half. Second half we killed the momentum as we've done well against a number of teams this season and then snatched a goal with probably our only shot on target in that half.

Thought County's goal looked offside, but would have to see it back. Another deserved 3 points though. 12 games to go and very much in the hunt for the top 3.

Could’ve done with county getting something from crewe, but as is consistently the case this season they lost to a quality side, silly me.
It's our first season up, we've lost our manager and main man in Palmer. We're not as good as the top teams. Right now I'd be happy for the season to end, not get embroiled in a relegation scrap and go again next season.

Easily have been another 9 goals today against Salford, they actually looked really threatening at the start and a good team but left loads of gaps in the final third, so they got battered - did they not watch the Harrogate game!

I’m gunna guess Karl Robinson will moan at the referee going off his antics in the dug out, which is absolutely ridiculous if true because the referee actually directly affected Mansfield today by being so fucking atrocious. Luckily we were too good.

Nice to sit at the top with the most scored and least conceded, let’s see how long we can sustain it.

Thought we were great, we let them have the ball in areas where they couldn't hurt us and for all their possession, they resorted to long shots and lumping the ball into the box quite early.

I actually fancied Notts County today for some reason, looks like from the outside with the new manager trying to get the side more defensively side it’s actually affecting the offensive side now too, while still being shit at the back obviously.

I would love to know who decided not to get a couple of defenders in January but sign a giant striker? Sackable offence. Laughable how bad that window was really.

Micky Demetriou with yet another goal and great performance. I'd rather have him than Flint.

He was hopeless across the board, the standard this season is terrible, bless him though he didn’t get anything right across the board.

What was the salford scout thinking!? i know we’re away at a decent side, tbeyve most 1 at home all season - just beaten harrogate by 9 the last home game, let’s go attack :ffs:

We did sign a defender who got subbed of on 20 minutes today.
We're struggling, the team and the manager. Hope Maynard gets a result in Tuesday as he's got a few good performances out of them but there's no getting away from the fact we're lightweight and just a bit short in key areas.

Hmmmm that's two Stags fans on here who fancied Notts to buck the trend and beat a top side this season. Whilst also not fancying their one side to get automatic promotion :ffs:

We did actually sign a defender, bar that and the sackable offence bit you are bang on with that comment.

One defender that’s a young kid? You needed an entire new defence, whoever is in charge of it transfer business fucked up.

Flint who won every header against Smith today, and captains the side who sit top of the table with the BEST defence in the league. Keep trying youthhhhh.

Early days but the signs are that we‘ve dropped a massive clanger in appointing Maynard. Today was a mess, Crewe won it with the early goal. Then we starting fucking around with formations and personnel to no great effect.

Absolutely gutting after the momentum from last season and how we started this.

That's still a defender , young and from a much higher level.

All football fans, especially at this level, should know that you can't get every transfer window right, you've just got to look at getting the majority right.

Probably best concentrating on the Stags especially as it's the YOTS.

As for Notts we've gone from a side who concede lots but have a dozen different ways to score to a side that concede lots and have one way to score (Assist J Jones).

Today was a big game, deservedly win and it's looks positive for the run in, deservedly lose and it looks worrying. Thought Crewe were very good , clinical albeit with the usual assistance.

We looked a mess tbh which after Newport and Wrexham is a surprise and a concern.

Yes, we looked short of confidence, belief and everything else. Players out of position and multiple formations during the game. Maynard needs the win on Tuesday and I'm not at all sure he's going to get it.
Bostock needs dropping, we're so slow and lacklustre in the middle.

Crewe looked by far the better team overall, more savvy and had the legs on us.
At last, I’ve been waiting all season for that, massive reason why most Donny fans weren’t bothered about him not signing a new contract.

Another win, should have been by a bigger margin too but not bothered, 5 games unbeaten but more importantly we look like a team again, need another 7 points to make us feel fully safe and every chance of a top 12 finish

He's done his job, and won't even forgotten. But without Palmer , he's been exposed of late and tbh lack of alternatives means his been overplayed.

Plus I think you've got more to be concerned about. More important things to be waiting for this season.

I’m confused, as early on in the season you said you still hadn’t played anbody decent, but you played Crewe first game who you’ve just described as a quality side.

He's two years older than with you and without Palmer who had the highest running stats in the National league last year he's getting found out week after week.

I’m not concerned we’ve been awful for 3 years the last 5 games have been like winning the title for us but as shite as we’ve been your only 8 points in front of us, I think the concern is away from us or should be

We had him in League one and no doubt he’s gifted but far too slow on the ball

Couple of weeks ago us and Walsall were thinking mid table obscurity. Not a bad season but no great shakes. Now! Just outside the play offs (we have a game in hand).

It's the bloody hope that kills you.

Didn't go today but reports say it was close but our keeper was probably the man of the match. Very pleased for him. When he joined us, as a back up, he had played around five games in five years and it showed. Injuries, loan recalls and suddenly he is our number 1. We had to put up with the learning curve but he has steadily improved, grown in confidence and has become a decent league 2 keeper. Still room for improvement but I'm beginning to believe he can move upwards.

Casey
Corey was immense today. Vast improvement on last season.

Yeah Bostock’s form going off a cliff has mirrored the teams. 3 months ago we were all desperate for him to sign a new contract now I suspect most would get rid.

I'd say not, it really was a decent move. The much maligned Osadebe strong again, he's been great since joining. You were getting the upper hand for the latter part of the half by and large, though your two decent chances were mostly Apter doing it by himself. One mix up between JMT and out loan goalie too which was a bit hairy, passed it back well behind the keeper who'd come for it but fortunately missed the goal too.
Have seen your goal now, sat up nicely for McCann and he struck it well, but maybe we could have done more to make things tougher in the build-up.

Our away form is absolutely fucking shite. At home we can easily be found out, and away we just cannot score. Then we bring on Dalby ffs. Just fuck off.

You may want to read that back to yourself. "Been awful for 3 years", "the last 5 games have been like winning the title for us"

Both sound concerning to me.
