If the alarm bells aren't ringing at Tranmere after losing to a gash Morecambe side then they should be.

Tranmere worst side I’ve seen this season by a distance (other than Crewe but that was clearly an anomaly)
What occurred with our old owner Smurthwaite in the end there? Was rumoured to be looking at them again a couple of months back?

Does make me laugh with pretty much half a season to play a side is being anointed as 100% promoted. Seem to remember people doing it with Leeds in 2010 when they won in the Cup against Man Utd and then they spunked a 9 point lead at the top and only went up on the final day.

Look at us last season. Playoff dead certs in March then went into relegation form and scraped a playoff place on the final day of the season.

I'm of the belief Walsall will more than likely go up and I'm obviously playing devil's advocate here but so much football to be played and so many things can happen. Could easily suffer an injury crisis and rack up poor form given we have 4 months of the season to go.

Our game yesterday I thought our performance was lethargic, half arsed and complacent for 90 minutes but luckily 3 of the subs and Conway were excellent enough to see us past a Carlisle side who I thought were promising going forward but were a total mess at the back and it showed. That Barclay is a terrible defender and almost single handedly chucked the game his individual performance was that bad.

The 8 minutes or so of injury time we actually played front foot football and looked dangerous and scored two goals which turned a 0 point situation into a 3 point one. Let this be a lesson to Lee Bell that you have to play front foot football against the dregs of this division, especially at home, and can't play 5 at the back reactive Steve Davis inspired dull football against sides there for the taking. An in-form Bromley await us at Gresty Road on Sunday but we have 3 really poor sides on paper after that and we've got to be looking at maximum points in those games.

2nd and 3rd are there for the taking. I still back us to be in the hunt for those places come the business end of the season but we need to stop being so safe.
You never know, FGR almost bottled a huge lead in 2022 (you’re welcome FGR!)

Think we won 9 in 11 (D2) then followed it with 1 in 8 this season alone so things can change quickly.

But although “almost missing out” the lead is usually enough to scrape over, sure Walsall will hit a bad patch as every team does but they’ve likely got a good insurance policy with the current gap.

Even you guys last season scraped in despite the bad run for example and one game away.

2nd and 3rd are absolutely anybody’s though at this point. Salford have shown you can easily come from nowhere with a little run and be right in it with the table above the bottom 6-7 so congested and tight.

Fortunately for them they play us next. The gift that keeps on giving, perfect to kickstart their season. They couldn’t hand pick a better game.

If they were to somehow lose to us, that’s when alarm bells should ring.

Five wins on the bounce and 0 goals conceded. You hate to see it. they were terrible against us and we scored a perfectly good goal which wasn't given. Horrible club.
Impressive but also been mostly playing against teams in the lower part of the table recently in fairness. Shows how easy it is to climb through this league though! Let’s see how they do on Saturday against us at our place (no doubt nailed on to beat us now I’ve said that and with our former manager in charge that wouldn’t surprise me either especially given they beat us 1-0 back in September at theirs when we had Mike Williamson stalling our season).

Bromley look pretty good. Nothing fancy about what they do, they just do the basics well.

Bonner in danger of being sacked?

Reckon there’s a good shout of that. Think Adkins is prime to depart next but Bonner has to be in the conversation.

This Bromley team are impressive to me though. They played very well against us. Imray is a cracking player and Cheek does what he does.

We have been abysmal first half. How we are not losing is a minor miracle.

Pound for pound, Gillingham are the worst team I've seen us play this season. And their squad is full of mediocrity on overly generous wages it's actually quite funny.

Bonner is still piggybacking off Paul Mullin's 30+ goal season and an exceptional result at St James' Park 3 years ago. Not exactly done much since that famous day bar an improbable 10 game rally to escape relegation at the death in 2023. Can certainly see Galinson swinging the axe soon.

Tidy first half - chances at both ends but we have been the better side. Decent away turn out for a Baltic night at Dave.

He did develop a couple other good players like Knibbs and Smith there but it’s clearly not working at Gills. Probably end up them sacking him and getting Woodman in.

It’s been like watching a Vale game. A lot of expensive players playing a very disjointed style accompanied by the “we’ve had a shot” chant when they finally have a halfhearted attempt and booed off at halftime.

I'm pretty sure Woodman turned them down a while ago. And Bromley are in a much stronger position now that I can't see him leaving Bromley for them. Has a better chance of getting promotion if he stays put imo.

Fucking hell that’s a rotten penalty attempt from Nevitt. Was more like a rugby conversion. Sums up Gillinghams night.

Got out of jail in the first half. Newport should've been 2 or 3 up at half time. We were much better in the 2nd half.

Mad how much Gills fell off a cliff, you’d usually lose max 12-13 games to make the play offs… they’ve lost 11 already. Considering they were flying early season it makes our stutter look ok! Not sure what’s gone wrong there but credit to Bromley they’ve are closing in on almost certain safety already which I imagine was their main first target this season.

I don't know what it is with Gillingham, but every season I look at there squad and think they've signed some decent players and will be one of the better teams and be a reasonably entertaining team this year, only to look at the same squad halfway through the season and think there a bang average, dull looking team.

Going to a tough game vs Bromley this coming weekend, we seem to be constantly playing teams that have recently played themselves into good form, Colchester, Cheltenham and now Bromley in the last few weeks.

We’re looking settled, strong, tough to beat and competitive in EFL Div 2. Nothing fancy, but confident in what we do. We’ll need to bolster our squad in January but so far, so good. 2024 was great, really looking forward to 2025

If there is a result and performance that will get a manager fired it’d be that from Gillingham. Could certainly tell their fans have had enough.

Credit to Bromley though. They’re a legit contender for a playoff spot I reckon.

I've said it before and I will say it again they injured the League Two Play of the Season, depriving the whole league and opportunity to see him terrorise defenders, and from that day onwards they've been cursed.

It has nothing to do with the manager or the signings, the curse will only end when either Jodi Jones starts terrifying again or they play Notts at the Priestfield Stadium.
