Think come January Derby might be well served to go out and get a proper left wingback. Barkhuizen has the same issue that a few of ours who play that position have, basically he’s a winger being shoehorned into it.

Cashin has been brilliant for them though.

Derbys last three league games they’ve conceded five pens (two to us and Accy and one now to Ipswich) and the opposition have only scored from one of them. Good going that.

Blimey this was a tough watch. I Cannot remember a single piece of decent creative play in the whole match from either side to be honest, everything seemed so stereotyped and predictable. Have Ipswich lost their spark?

Quite fitting that the only goal has come from a defensive mistake I must say, could have been here for hours without seeing a goal otherwise I rekon

Don’t know what it looked like on TV, and I haven’t read the thread yet to see the neutrals opinion, but I thought we absolutely deserved the win. Although the whole ground absolutely knew Jackson was not going to score the penalty.

Only just turned the Ipswich v Derby game on. Any reason Ipswich are playing in black and not their usual home kit?
Not entirely sure the official reason but I suspect it’s to give more views to this special blackout Ed Sheeran kit. 7th best selling shirt in England this season apparently (as if that matters on any metric at all other than finance).

Can’t help but think that is very harsh. Played some lovely passing football first half. Admittedly towards the end it was a complete scrap (as a lot of Warnes Rotherham games were from memory) but first half some of our linkup/passing/triangles were decent enough for league 1!

I’m more inclined to PlymouthCasual view to be honest. You’re right there were some nice patterns at various points but apart from the penalty save I don’t think Derbys keeper had much to do at all. I think that is largely due to Derbys defence was very solid outside of one big cluster in fairness.

On a selfish note I’m not displeased Morsy is suspended for Tuesday. Loved him when he was at Vale and wish well otherwise but don’t want to see him running the show against us.

I can only judge on our game at Home Park but in my opinion, at no point tonight did you move the ball half as quickly or look half as threatening as you did then. Of course Derbys reluctance to attack never helped one bit im sure. I was just expecting a few of your key players in the final third to produce a bit more magic to try and unlock a stubborn defence. Good 3 points though none the less

Got to think Derby will be pleased with how it’s gone so far. Seem like they’ve been set up well by Warne.

Looking ahead to midweek I fear our left side against Burns is going to be a ridiculous mismatch.
Depends, the state of the wide parts of our pitch he’s probably going to end up dribbling a divot!

Thought it was a messy game, Derby played like they did against us, very sloppy in possession and very little threat up front, they look a way off the top sides at this level and probably lack players in their prime age, it’s all mid to late 30s and youngsters, may take a couple of windows to sort them out.

Glad Morsy is out Tuesday, Ipswich looked fairly powerful and played some good stuff but didn’t overly create a lot, probably a 0-0 game but one huge error from Derby.

To be honest most of our best stuff against you (and most teams) came through Chaplin who’s final ball/finishing is superb. He played those key passes in behind against you on all three occasions we were in on goal. Tonight for whatever reason he was rested. I think we missed his end product.

Charlton at home for us today. Our next three matches look extremely difficult on paper and with this being the one game at home out of the three, we need to be looking at three points here.

Good news for us last weekend was Marosi made a return from being out with a broken finger and in midweek Aiden O’Brien made his first start as well as completing his first 90 minutes for the club since signing from Pompey. I wouldn’t start him today but atleast we now have a decent attacking option to call upon from the bench.

I watched most of Charlton’s three nil win over Pompey on Monday night and I must say, Charlton looked a better team than I thought they would be. Charlton do have the second worst away record in the division having played 7 games, drawing 4 and winning 0. Us on the other hand, we’re 4th in the form table and going under the radar a bit with some decent wins. Today will be tough though.

Salop 1-1 Charlton (Saydee)

Happy to see that one over the line in front of 28,500 and the Sky cameras.

Winning when not at your best is crucial to promotion and we did just that.

Evans and Morsy are getting a reputation for putting in sneaky tackles.
Morsy has always been the same.

Remember when he played for Chesterfield he elbowed one of our lads in the centre circle and nobody saw it, and then lunged in 2 foot about 45 seconds later. Got sent off and then a longer ban as the elbow was caught on camera

Yeah I've seen it with Morsy before just seems to have crept back into his game again more prominently this season

Got a feeling today is going to be a high scoring encounter. As is shown by our shortage of clean sheets we are prone to lapses at the back and they have two decent forwards. We on the other hand do create a fair few chances and that is backed up on some of the data I saw D3D4 tweet the other day just are wasteful with it. Will say 3-2 either way, maybe slightly leaning Cambridge.

Very much so and it now means you can go and play your academy lads on Tuesday ahead of the big one next weekend (please).

Morsy is Micky Adams one big mistake, he broke through from our youth team under Adams (who in fairness was always reluctant with younger players to blood them).

He got a ridiculous sending off flying in two footed when we were cruising to a 2-0 win against Rochdale, we ended up drawing 2-2 and he was pretty much banished after that.

Went off to Chesterfield and although we got a sell on when he left there we’d have no doubt got much more had we stuck with him.

Looks to have grown into a real player and suppose if you take that part of his game away you lose a bit of what he gives you.

He was great in our promotion season but I never anticipated that he would go on to have such a decent career. Obviously matured but still has an edge to his game.

What a blow, easy three points for Cambridge today both Wilson and Harrison injured along with Politic.

That’s literally our whole goal threat gone

We've lost.
It’s ridiculous our injury luck the last couple of years. If we lost one it’s a blow, to lose both ahead of a packed couple of weeks is a complete disaster and could see us into the drop with the points likely lost.

I think Wilson is a great player but you can guarantee he'll miss at least 1/3 of the season. Hard to get up for this game now, with a young and raw lad and another who has been playing RWB as your starting strikers.

I’d have gone Butterworth with Mipo but guess we can’t risk losing another striker. This is a huge blow at the worst possible time. Fancied us today but that’s gone now.

Are you any good from set pieces?

Not great injury news for us today either, Coutts spotted with an air cast boot and walking on crutches, just when he has started playing well again

Usually, no. But we have scored quite a few from set pieces this season in spite of being a fairly small side.

Yeah but the problem is it’s usually Harrison heading them in! So we’ve lost that now as well!

Mipo has two in two I guess but he’s raw as! And Massey isn’t a striker. Ideally you’d have played Butterworth in the Wilson role.

What another frustration.
