is Smith also to blame for us only getting two points out of the last four matches against limited, bottom-half opposition? And did Smith leave Bruno Andrade out today?
No, obviously, Garry Hill is. I don't know why Andrade was left out, maybe we'd have been told if our club was run properly and so the management feel fit to speak to the media. Given Andrade was our second best player last week vs Oxford, I see no reason as to why he would have been dropped for 'tactical reasons'. He was either not fit, which is unlikely given he came on and looked fine or he turned up late and was dropped - as GH has done many times in the past. While today's result was awful, I'm prepared to cut GH some slack given it's a miracle we're not in a relegation battle after everything that has happened this season.
why do the players feel they deserve a bonus for failing to reach the play-offs?
Aren't bonuses a pretty common thing/used for extra incentive in football? Obviously we don't know the complete ins and outs of what is going on but news that all is not well behind the scenes doesn't come as much of a surprise following the lack of post-match interviews from GH in recent weeks and all the other PR disasters that have happened this season. I get the feeling this has been going on for a while now and finally GH is fed up and it has been made public.
So you'd have accepted a takeover bid from some fantasist whose last available accounts (which are online, if you fancy a gander) show him to be technically insolvent, would you?
No, I didn't say that? What I was implying is that I would have taken any potential investors/takeover bid as seriously as possible, unlike how Smith constantly stalled and stalled in getting the disclosure agreement done. The interested party eventually got fed up and went public about it to notify the fans about how lacklustre and unprofessional the board had been with it all. Said investor didn't get annoyed because it hadn't been done within a day, said investor got annoyed because it hadn't been done since June when Peter Jordan approached him. Seems familiar, doesn't it, following today's events?
I'm worried that not enough of our fans are concerned about what the future holds. I feel too many are happy for Chris Ingram and Peter Jordan to keep propping us up - Smith seems to be one who thinks similar given in five years he hasn't come up with a plan for a day that he knew was eventually going to come. Smith's inevitable resignation in the summer won't come as a massive surprise but I fear the damage will already be done, the budget will be reduced and GH and ST will leave and we'll have a massive problem.
