is Smith also to blame for us only getting two points out of the last four matches against limited, bottom-half opposition? And did Smith leave Bruno Andrade out today?

No, obviously, Garry Hill is. I don't know why Andrade was left out, maybe we'd have been told if our club was run properly and so the management feel fit to speak to the media. Given Andrade was our second best player last week vs Oxford, I see no reason as to why he would have been dropped for 'tactical reasons'. He was either not fit, which is unlikely given he came on and looked fine or he turned up late and was dropped - as GH has done many times in the past. While today's result was awful, I'm prepared to cut GH some slack given it's a miracle we're not in a relegation battle after everything that has happened this season.

why do the players feel they deserve a bonus for failing to reach the play-offs?

Aren't bonuses a pretty common thing/used for extra incentive in football? Obviously we don't know the complete ins and outs of what is going on but news that all is not well behind the scenes doesn't come as much of a surprise following the lack of post-match interviews from GH in recent weeks and all the other PR disasters that have happened this season. I get the feeling this has been going on for a while now and finally GH is fed up and it has been made public.

So you'd have accepted a takeover bid from some fantasist whose last available accounts (which are online, if you fancy a gander) show him to be technically insolvent, would you?

No, I didn't say that? What I was implying is that I would have taken any potential investors/takeover bid as seriously as possible, unlike how Smith constantly stalled and stalled in getting the disclosure agreement done. The interested party eventually got fed up and went public about it to notify the fans about how lacklustre and unprofessional the board had been with it all. Said investor didn't get annoyed because it hadn't been done within a day, said investor got annoyed because it hadn't been done since June when Peter Jordan approached him. Seems familiar, doesn't it, following today's events?

I'm worried that not enough of our fans are concerned about what the future holds. I feel too many are happy for Chris Ingram and Peter Jordan to keep propping us up - Smith seems to be one who thinks similar given in five years he hasn't come up with a plan for a day that he knew was eventually going to come. Smith's inevitable resignation in the summer won't come as a massive surprise but I fear the damage will already be done, the budget will be reduced and GH and ST will leave and we'll have a massive problem.

Anyway enough of that... Our very late play-off charge is in full swing

FC United 1-3 Alfreton (Madeley 45) (Meikle 61,Jones 70, Bradley 83)

Thats 10 Unbeaten and four straight away league wins aftet this latest success.

We werent great in the first half. 2 weeks without any action showed and we badly missed Brad McGowan. A World class save from Matt Duke kept the score down as we went in at the break 1-0. We barely threatened offensively in the first half although could have easily been level at the break as Joe Leesley took aim from 30 yards only to see his thunderous shot crash back off the underside of the bar.

Despite dominating FC really werent much to write home about.

Nicky really lay in to the players at HT and it showed. We totally tore them to shreds much like Brackley with our sheer pace and directness. They just could not cope with Jamie Jackson. 7 or 8 times he was cynically brought down. Scott Kay was booked on the hour for once such offence only to do it again minutes late. The Ref struggled to keep control in the second half as he just stood there blowing his whisle like a schoolboy as several skirmishes happened around him. And he totally bottled it as Kay should have been given his marching orderers. But instead it was a stern talking to!

Scrappy Leveller from Meikle but the other two were anything but. An Superb 25 yad free kick from Sam Jones before sealed the game with a excellent, classy finish on the break after yet more good work from MOTM Jamie Jackson

Finally my thoughts on FCUM - Excellent set up and an very impressive modern ground. Enjoyable away ground and mostly very approachable people. Things got very heated in the second half and partizan. Most of that was aimed at the Ref and the apparent "play acting" from our players. To be fair to the FC ffans though a lot were very complimentary of our second half performance. Overall a very enjoyable away day. I can see why however there are many bad stories about FC fans and the general experience from some fans.

We're still in danger of getting relegated but this is actually class. Did someone call a Leicester?

Wish we'd played Kiddy when we were supposed to a few weeks ago before they hit form
Should still win but they'll be well up for it and I've got a nasty feeling we may come unstuck, hope I'm wrong.

First half yesterday Braintree could have been out of sight. A howler by Crocombe in goal left them with an empty net to slot in to, however he kept us in the game for the rest of the half. Second half was a different story. Almond scored one of those volleys that rolls off your shin, Bishop tried some weird volley from 6 yards and missed when it would have been easier to head it, and we had far more control of the match overall. A draw was probably a fair result, Braintree are no mugs and our pitch isn't conductive to any sport at the moment, let alone football!

To be fair DSL, if you read the thread, it's the usual FGR vs every other member on the forum

Free travel wasn't enough, you'd have to pay a lot of our fans to make them want to go to Halifax.

Those Dutch fans were football tourists. Doubt they'll ever want to come back again now.
Yeah yeah whatever, you know as well as I do, 73 away fans for a team in second place is shit. We'd have brought 700 to yours in the same position.

Calm down! You had 1300 at home. We had 350 more than that at home last game!

Can only see it going down next year for you, as Conference north clubs don't tend to travel well

#obsessed
Yes exactly. 20 places above us and only 350 more. We were getting 6 and a half thousand when we fighting it out with Rushden for this league but then, we're a REAL club.

If you dare to say anything that could be seen in any way to disparage FGR and their manifest destiny you are set on from all sides. Threats, insults and labels of jealous and bitter.

Altrincham's 3rd goal - it looked terrible at the time, looks even worse now. Look away Lincoln fans....

Oh christ that is awful. Fair enough he wanted to take a touch because the ball was bobbling on that pitch, but why the need to take a second touch? He should just launch it as his first touch is actually good and set it up nicely to boot away.

Yes there is no doubt FGR and their fans are becoming more and more unlikable by each passing week arent they?

Probably stress. After all the posturing about how they are the future of football they will look pretty silly if they blow it again.

Taking my mod cap off just for a moment its my personal opinion. As far as I can know Moderators are allow to voice their opinions?
But it's clearly an inflammatory remark. Why would a forum moderator feel the need to post something of that nature? Surely it's incumbent of a mod to pacify rather than attempt to wind up certain posters/clubs?

Boring Hurst had another go at the fans yesterday for moaning at a 3rd shit performance in a row. He claims we've been 'SPOILED IN THE PAST' and should appreciate 'the effort made in tough conditions'

I really have heard it all now.

I have little objection to fans of clubs being disliked on here. In FGR's case, either they will get promoted and we won't have to put up with them next season, or there will be one almighty piss-taking session. I'm hoping for the latter!

Did not see this part "Taking my mod cap off just for a moment"?

Yes, of course I saw it. That doesn't change the fact that you're a moderator of the forum, and it says so right next to your post! Still, if you don't understand it, then clearly there's no point in trying to explain it to you.

Sometimes I wonder if Hurst actually likes to berate the fans and look for a nibble. This time though he's completely lost it. The bloke isn't close to being a winner and everything he says just knocks the life out of everything in proximity. I'm truly bored of him now and the agreeing numbers are growing.
