Really pleased to see Orient back, it’s a great away day for us, has a brilliant CAMRA bar open to away fans and it means the return of Josh. Hopefully we’ll get them at home early in the season so we can welcome the great man back ASAP.

The play offs look hideous from a brotherhood perspective. I think Wrexham can get passed Eastleigh but Salford away sounds horrendous.

Many congratz Orient of your deserved return to the FL. It`s good to see a proper club return to where they become rather than another one of the fanless rich mans pet projects who have got out of the VNL in recent years, Hopefully our "friends" from across the border will be joining you .

Will be interesting to see how Bonne and JMD get on, as ex-Imps.

Not sure Colchester had full belief in Bonne there but dedwardp might be able to shed some light on that.

JMD's been shipped, or frozen, out of the 3 Clubs he's been at between his successful spell at Dagenham and current club Orient - two of those FL ones. He needs to settle down and make a go of it somewhere. He looked well short of FL quality here last season and likewise at Coventry albeit at the top end of the league.
Bonne could well be sold - but I think he will stay. He does miss alot of chances, despite his 50 goals for us in 2 seasons. The one thing he has going for him is his fitness, work rate and aerial ability - He has started EVERY league game for us this season and just keeps running and running, he relieves so much pressure on the team and leads the front line very well.

Colchester I believe rotated him from the wing and up front and never gave him a run of games - Whereas with us he was told he was a number 9 and he would stay there, he has only ever been dropped from our starting XI once in the last 12 months, his confidence has grown and grown and he has become such a good all round striker.

JMD is talented but still very raw, we changed our formation to 3-5-2 and had him in that number ten role for a month and he was superb, scored 3 goals and was linking up well with Bonne and Jay Simpson, but he then got injured and was out for 7 weeks. There is talent there, but he still has a ways to go.

Bonne was arguably the most natural goalscorer we've ever produced and his goalscoring record throughout the age groups was phenomenal. However, as Terminator says, we mostly played him out wide in a 4-2-3-1 which didn't suit him at all - he was always a bit of a fox in the box, but he never ended up in those positions out wide. We doggedly stuck with that formation as it was engrained in the club 'philosophy' and he was never given a run of games in the central role. Most of his appearances were as an 85th minute substitute but his minutes per goal record when central was excellent.

It was frustrating that he left when he did, as Chris Porter left that summer and I do think it would have then been his chance to start the season as the main forward. The other frustration is that he grew up through the age groups in a partnership with Sammie Szmodics playing just off of him, and the pair of them scored goals for fun and linked up excellently. Szmodics of course has become one of our key players over the past couple of years, and it's a shame they were never given a run together in the senior side as that was clearly the intention once upon a time. If we had Bonne as the centre forward now with Szmodics just behind I think that would be our most exciting front line in years.

Nice to see Orient back, too!

Not bothered who comes up tbh

A) I hope we’re not in this league
B) Salford is close to manchester
C) no-one wants to go to London.
D) though orient are a proper club

Point 2 and 3 are absurd. Salford is the zit on Manchester’s arse. And away days in London are as good as it gets. It’s a shame Wimbledon may survive.

Pleased to see Steve Davis didn’t drag Orient into the ground with his own ego.

Agree r.e. Bonne. When we had him on loan and played him up front, he looked like a striker who'd forgotten how to play his position because of being out wide for a while.

Both are valid.

Either way, well done on coming up, you’ve done your time and no doubt will come back stronger, more eager and passionate than you were before.

Though I still hope we aren’t here to play you in the first place (we will fuck it up and will be here)

We can now concentrate our efforts on securing the Non League Double, putting us alongside great names such as Wealdstone, Colchester and the last club to do it - Wycombe Wanderers :bdick:

We should have done it in 1999, falling to bits in the semi-final against Kingstonian as holders. Cotts was so pissed off about it that he gave the players a dressing down on the pitch after the game.

Welcome back O's - you've been missed. Let's just hope Wrexham or Solihull join you.

Obviously I don't want Salford promoted, but at the same time if they did come up it would calm everything down in the National League - They've well and truly fucked things up down there financially for everyone - especially the northern sides, even we don't pay our players anywhere near what they're paying. Any player that goes there with a decent reputation is going there for the cash.

If they came up, I would be intigued to see what they would do - Their wage budget would far surpass everyones here.
