Steady!

I'll be more impressed if we keep Ajose and Obika.
Same here. Just hope both don't move on as having to replace the top strike force in the division (I believe) would be a helluva task. I'd personally offer Obika a better deal once Smith and Storey are flogged and let Ajose Ieave if one of them are to be sold.

Just seen this thread and noticed it had 12 pages.

Not really got any feelings towards Oxford or Bristol Rovers and I doubt they do to us either, I did quite like my only trip to Oxford a couple years ago in which we won 2-1. Never been to Bristol Rovers.

Generally, the gap isn't that big. 2 of the 4 relegation spots are already accounted for!

A lot will depend more on who you keep rather than who you recruit - and that applies to most L1 clubs.

Things will no doubt get heated around matchday - but I genuinely enjoyed the spats with the City fans season before last.

Hope we don't have to wait too long for a derby. First game of the season would be fun.

Thought it might be something like that squad wise. I enjoy the passion/fury/elation of our games but don't carry that feeling at any other time, except perhaps if you run away with the league...

I'm guessing the 2 games will be scheduled similar to the 2 City games. Hope neither is an evening game.

Doesn't really affect me for the home game as I live 10 mins away but never done Oxford away so Saturday would be grand.

Well, you've got a treat to come!

Bit soulless compared to the marvellous heap at the Manor.

Strange, them going from an old ground with 6 stands to a new one with 3!

Loved the Manor. probably in the way you love the County Ground.
Kassam is less easy to love.

I quite liked the Manor ground, proper stadium if a bit quirky. That little lane (Cuckoo lane??) behind the away end must have been bonkers in the 70's and 80's.
I spend a fair bit of time working next to the Kassam (or whatever it's called nowadays) and nice though it is, there doesn't appear to be much there, fan wise.

From what I'm told it was a lively lane for during that period.. The Kassam is a funny old place not helped by the history and ownership, allied to the out of town issues.

There were a couple of good pubs if you carried on past the John Radcliffe for a few minutes. Strangely never had a minute's hassle all the times we went in there and it was only 200 yards from the ground.

We always went in a pub on a corner by some traffic lights just up the road from the Manor ground, white horse was it?? It was a long time ago to be fair.

Have they opened a large trailer park, then?

Yeah. Cos it's been so much more fun following Rovers these past 40 years than Swindon.

Wish we'd dropped out of the football league and had to play in Bath, then move to the Rugby ground and not win the League Cup, made it to the PL and 2 other semi finals and various trips to Wembley (not forgetting Selhurst Park).

I sure chose the wrong team there. What was I thinking?

You missed the bit about financial irregularities, apart from that reasonably valid point.

Fans have no control over any dodger that may take ownership of their club - unfortunately.

Those irregularities pale into insignificance when compared to what has gone on since at various other clubs.

Going to be fun next season. Daggers coming in from all angles, sorely lacking this year.

It was dull all round last season.

I feel stirrings!
