Jackson won't be going anywhere I'd imagine. Dack will almost certainly be gone, but as of yet no-one has bid (as far as I'm aware) except for Bristol City, but then again they bid for everyone. Egan has left the club and will join Brentford, but fantastic though he was as a player, we actually had a better defensive record when he was injured and El-Abd was in the side. Other than that, Josh Wright may well go somewhere on a free, but that's really it.
Nope, we haven't.

As for Rovers, with new FFP regulations they wouldn't be able to sustain Championship football with their current facilities and income. I won't be worried about Rovers competing with us until (if) they get the stadium in order.

I was talking generally rather than this window - City were the only side confirmed to have made a bid.

Our guv'nor is back from his holidays today so we'll find out soon if we're actually going back in for Dack. Personally, I reckon it's Tomlin we're after and we won't sign both of them but that remains to be seen.
All that said, Dack is a very good young player!

Lets face it, we have been at an unfair advantage for ages now and its going to take a long time to get anywhere near City on and off the pitch, but we have to start somewhere.
You are buying and bidding for players into the millions, god knows what your wage bill is like compared to ours....our record transfer fee paid is less than half a million almost 25 years ago! You lot keep going on about this ever reducing gap, too right there should be one, should we ever be in the same league soon you have to be embarrassed!
I think as long as you have the Lansdown's covering your losses we probably wont touch you for the foreseeable future.

Before we think of seriously investing in the playing squad and contemplating promotion to the 2nd division we will need to invest in the infrastructure ie New ground/Training pitches and all that goes with it.
At present our ground is an eyesore just like Swindons county ground and I wonder how both have passed health & safety. But the one plus for us our are new owners are tackling these problems.
This season I think we will make a couple of decent signings as I see a top half finish. Once the ground has been built we will then be ready for the Championship and I reckon we will seriously be challenging the City in 5 years time.

Well, we've just purchased a new training facility and really to compare our 2 side stands with the ramshackle gypsy encampment at the Mem is ridiculous.

And as for your new ground - well, I'll believe it when I see it. You're putting a lot of faith in someone who has, up to now, invested fuck all in your club.

They Do actually own their ground though Dan. Even though I can't abide how they came to own it, they do.
I stand to be corrected but I'm sure he 'invested' to actually buy the club AND cleared night on £8M of debt.
All that said, if he turned out to be a chancer, that would be extremely funny!

Comparing our ground and Swindons is quite like comparing a couple of turds wherbye trying to ascertain which one is the shittiest. I remember going to your ground in the early 60's when Hunt,Woodruff & Summerbee were playing and not a lot has changed since.( well your ground has got considerably worse )
Both clubs need new grounds and until we get them none of us will be challenging City.

Oooh. Property developers. Visions of Uncle Firoz at Oxford and the shafting he gave them by selling off the Manor, building a basic 3 sided carbuncle and then screwing them with £500,000 a year rent.

Nothing's changed since the 1960s? What planet are you on?

As I stated your ground has got worse -- Come to think of it so has your team. You had a bloody good team back then.

Come off it, I don't particularly like Swindon's ground but it's considerably better than the Mem.

Oh come on boys and girls, swindons ground is mikes ahead of ours! Although it's not hard, it's one of the worst in the FL

Sadly I have to report that I am in the Caribbean for the Oxford game in September so I won't be able to meet Eric for a beer :(

As much as we all rip the piss out of each other - and I hate myself for saying this - it's good to be back playing them.

Not sure I could take another defeat, though!

The 2 million or so wonga loan has definitely been paid (I believe there is record in companies house), that's not a bad investment for only being in the club five minutes. Don't know if he cleared the rest of the debt as majority was just director loans, so probably was all sorted in the purchase of the club. Saying he hasn't invested anything is pretty far from the mark.

I had forgotten about the Wonga loan and assume he had to pay fat Nick as well? Personally, I reckon the guy seems genuine but time will tell I suppose Miagsy.

Please rate the last five derbies in order of the abject humiliation you felt at full time.

My guess is:

First JPT game (least)
FA Cup
CG league game
Kassam league game
Second JPT (Most)

Have we played you twice in the JPT?

The 2 league games were a bit frustrating in all honesty. It was such a great season and a win or two against you lot would have been a nice cherry on top of the cake.

JPT means fuck all to most people. We had 10 first teamers out for last season's game.

Worst for me was the loss at your place when Cunstable was sent off - although the saving grace was pissing the league anyway.

The FA Cup wasn't too great, either.

I agree that the JPT means nothing but we really were playing attack vs defence in that game and it looked like your keeper was about to start crying.

I believe the first JPT game involved Aden Flint running into his own defender instead of either of them clearing a hoof up field. Lovely stuff.

Ah the JPT was this season just finished wasn't it? That was well into the time that Cooper had lost the plot and we couldn't buy a win. I think we could have played until 8 the next morning and still wouldn't have scored that night.

Could I ask the gas fans on here their thoughts on this?

To me it sounds worrying ref your chances of a quick start on the UWE as it's a waste of money but I would be interested in your thoughts.

Out of interest, how do you 'reclad' a tent? ;)

The South Stand is shite, and we could do with some more capacity. Those are immediate problems, these seem like immediate solutions :)

Even if we have a quick start date with UWE, it'll still be two seasons before we're there. So it's worth doing some immediate work on the ground, just like we had very small stuff done on the ground during the end of last season.

Agreed, I think the 'teds wants to believe this spells the end of the UWE stadium saga as I can sense slight worry from them, but as you rightly say its a long way off being built even if it was agreed today with funds in place.
Quite a few home games last season sold out, this will increase revenue in the meantime, but will mean we have more stands than Donald Trump.

Who mentioned the 'teds'? I certainly didn't. I just asked a question yet you turn it around on us? Wierd.
I asked as you would follow the goings on at your club more closely than I would. Personally, I hope you get the UWE but it has no bearing on us whatsoever. I'm more worried about playing Newcastle, Norwich and Villa WTGR, what happens to you in the longer term remains to be seen.
If you want to turn this thread into a 'we're obsessed about you', 'no you're more obsessed about us' pile of turd, join another forum as this has generally been a friendly rivalry and I don't want to read that kind of shite.
Rant over!

Haha didn't mean it like that but it obviously hit a nerve anyway!
Who said anything about being obsessed? The OTIB thread on us does that. You protest too much.
