Haha didn't mean it like that but it obviously hit a nerve anyway!
Who said anything about being obsessed? The OTIB thread on us does that. You protest too much.
The OTIB thread is becoming a bit cringeworthy I must say. If I read your post wrongly, I apologise but I don't see why we were even mentioned WTGR, it's got nothing to do with us.
I only asked why you were tarting up the South stand when it seems a blatant waste of money? :hypo:

Well you did imply that we should be worried that tarting up the Mem could signal bad news re UWE, and that is also the thoughts of your fellow supporters, that's where 'teds came from. Sorry to group you all together but you are all family right? :bg:

Did I? I ASKED and didn't IMPLY anything. I can't see the point in tarting things up when you are potentially moving, hence my question. As for the 'family' thing, really??

Well we had a few sell outs last season, maybe they have worked out that the likely extra income this would generate would be greater than the cost to actually do it?
We have a few guys brought in specifically to oversee the new stadium so its not out of this world to think they may have had an input for the current stadium in the meantime.

Fair enough. If it adds capacity then it makes sense, if it doesn't, it seems a waste of money. That was my point. Putting the South West stand back in is a positive but revamping the south stand seems an unnecessary cost.

I think they extended the south stand around the time we got to the QF's of the FA Cup against WBA in 2008, made the attendance just over 12,000, not a massive increase but when you do the math it may well work out profitable all things considered.
Wasting money is what we were doing spunking over lawyers laughably trying to challenge a company like Sainsbury's, this is very sensible in comparison. As Tesco's say "every little helps'...

Just when I was despairing about our lack of signings good ol' Bristol Rovers flog their 'star' striker and replace him with some chump from Posh - scoring record 2 in 2 seasons!

The stuff of dreams, eh!

Taylor not training with the squad - he's jumping the pirate ship.

1) We haven't flogged ( sold him ) as he is out of contract.
2) He hasn't joined another club yet -- Unless you know better. He could stay but I actually doubt it myself.

So Wally Jumblat and his millions -nay, billions - can't offer him enough dosh to stay and you've got to replace him with a loanee with a shit record.

Whatever happens this season I for one will always be thankful that I had the pleasure and privelage of witnessing the galacticos of Swindon Town in person. When I'm in my dotage the memory of seeing these Titans of our humble sport will still bring a tear to my eye and a grin of remembered greatness. I can imagine my grand children sitting round my chair in awe as I recount my memories of the day I saw the legendary Swindon team give us a footballing lesson.
Not sure we deserve to be in the same league as these Gods tbh.

Not on about us - we know what we are. I'm just questioning this geezer in charge of your club. Matters not to me if he sells the Mem and then fucks off.

Just enjoying the ride until the inevitable bubble bursts - if there is, indeed, a bubble to start with.

Fully expect us to sign another striker if Taylor does now turn down his contract offer. With another 3-4 players still to join on top of that, Rovers have a chance of enjoying a decent year I think.

Wael has said all along he is all about sustainability. There is no way he'd have appointed the manager of the Wembley stadium build, Michael Cunnah, if he wasn't intent on getting the new stadium built ASAP and there is talk we are purchasing land to build our own training ground in the city too, which is good. Darrell wouldn't have turned down Leeds and sign a new 3 year deal with us if he wasn't certain the new owners were taking us in the right direction, and that's good enough for me.

This is going to be an interesting development to keep an eye on from afar between Swindon and Rovers fans on here. I hope you're competing at the same end of the table next season (whether that be top or bottom), so you get a sample of what we experienced.

The difference is we've got an owner who pleads poverty and then spunks £400,000 on a keeper and Rovers have an owner who has unimaginable spondooliks and signs a loanee striker with a dreadful recent scoring record.

Of course, nobody knows how any signings will turn out but that's not the point. Signings show intent.

He doesn't sign the players. Clarke does. I trust Clarke's opinion more than anyone else's in the FL right now, why should we doubt him?

The point of having this money, is not to spunk it like Swindon do and then just dwindle between getting wound up and survival. Its to promote organic growth and hopefully push on in 5 years, the way it should be done.

I would have thought from all fans in League 1, Daniel here would have been the one to understand spending silly

Then what's the point in having a minted owner if he doesn't splash the cash?

Power, for all his ills, has got the club debt-free and will spend if he thinks he can make a future profit out of a player.

It's not what most fans want to hear but at least it's honest and up front and we know we're not being fed a load of false promises.

You're very welcome to not bother opening this thread. That should sort out your dilemma.

That's really big of you to say Aber gas. Swindon make me cry a lot, but more tears of frustration than anything else!

I am happy my little team gives you the strength to carry on.

But he is/will (hopefully anyway ) but just not in the short term. For each point you make, I can argue back saying, well whats the point of spending money we don't have, take a huge risk and who knows in 10 years, we may not even have a team..?

And fair play to your guy for being honest, can't really argue with that. Although, we haven't been fed a load of false promises, he said from day 1, slow organic growth and rebuild the club.

Don't see Clark as the sort of manager to splash the cash anyway, more likely to pick players who he can get for less, remould and improve. You look at Taylor and Sinclair who were not even at national league level not so long ago. I trust DCs judgement.

We've got Ajose - 24 years old, League 1 top scorer and I don't reckon we'd get a million for him.

You're in cloud cuckoo land if you think a League 2 scrubber would attract offers anywhere near
You fucking moron, don't ever try banter with me, be informative with me, in fact just stop talking, you know nothing

We'll be along shortly for Ajose, 500k? Bet Power would snap our arm off for that

We've already sold Ajose to Charlton Daniel.

Bet you didn't get anywhere near as much as we did though

Do you mean for Roofe?

West Brom had a 40% sell on clause so I guess you guys pocket around 1.5 million? We got 800k for Ajose so yeah, not really.
