i'm not 100% sure but i think it's that a couple of our fans went to a match over there and started going each year and a German tv station picked it up and did a piece on it and now more Barrow fans go there and they come here

Ah, so nothing to do with Barrow's reputation as the Cologne of the north owing to its spectacular gothic cathedral and cafe culture?

They took them to Edinburgh instead

I genuinely don’t mind the ground, or Barrow for a away day.

From what I hear about the facilities at Salford, Barrow away end is a lot better.

And were safe in the knowledge that whenever we get them they’ll be a few stopping over for the weekend haha

I went to King's Lynn this season and it was a fabulous 4 days and probably our two games against KL were the best we played this season. B & B in London Road, Peterborough and time spent touring the Fens. Loved it.
Blimey fella, if you are over this way again, let me know and I will chuck you a quid so that you can try and get yourself a life.
Anyone who tours the fens for enjoyment is either insane, or part of a family who, lets just say, get on together just that little too well!

Congrats on the promotion by the way.

Born in Cumbria, always known it as Cumbria, refer to myself as Cumbrian.

Don't know which side of the fence our own Barra fans fall on but I've met Barrovians who argue for either way. Younger generations (at this point, anyone under the age of 50) have only ever known Barrow as part of Cumbria, before then it was a detached part of Lancashire, but Cumbria wasn't invented by a committee of civil servants in the seventies as some of the killjoys who take umbrance with any mention of the place will pompously argue, it was always the term to describe Cumberland, Westmorland and Furness, and the Cumbrian Mountains extend into all three. Before that it was an independent kingdom.
I knew about the Celtic kingdom bit, love that period of history. Same root as Cymru for Wales isn't it? Also recall reading about the spot where legend has it the last king of Cumbria is buried but forget the details now.

In a roundabout way your ground is that catastrophically shit it’s actually good.

Proper older style dilapidated dump, give me one of those over an identikit stadium any day

Agree 100%.

Proper stadiums should be rusty, a bit crumbly and smell of fags and piss. Also they should have proper floodlight pylons. And barbed wire fences. And graffiti on the walls dating back to the 70's. They should also be fucking freezing. Modern grounds are shite snowflake comfort zones.

It's not a proper football ground if there's no possibility of a rusty pipe falling over my head is what I think. Oh the joys of A&E.

Agree with this except the word you're looking for is poshy or perhaps snobbish and not snowflake. But carry on.

All mean pretty much the same to me tbh. Basically soft c*** who wanna take selfies and sit down at football. And don't get me started on those clapper things at Leicester etc. Fuck me.

Up until the confirmation yesterday we had the reputation as the Barcelona of Non League, we'll just have to simply be #Barracelona next season.....

Koln were brilliant when they stormed the Emirates a couple of years back. Took virtually the whole stadium.

I know it has been fashionable since time began to bash Scottish footy but come on guys. Like really? The likes of Motherwell and Aberdeen will smash the tinpot sides we follow. You know, the likes of Cambridge, FGR, Mansfield and Grimsby.

And I hope nobody pipes up with 'but we beat St Johnstone 3 nil in a PSF a year ago'. Cos that's just what it is. A PSF.

Yeah seriously. The level in their second tier is very poor but that's mostly because there are very few imports down there, unlike the SPL, and that is what makes them stronger than the L2 sides. Just watch any SPL match and you'll see 6/7/8 very average players and then 2 or 3 (mostly) foreign players that really make the difference. Now take a look at nearly all of the L2 and try to pick out 1 or 2 standout players in the match day squad.

Also, the way they play the game in Scotland is different to our way, and what looks like a poor player in L2/National League will look decent up there. And vice versa of course.

I went to a Hibs v Hearts Derby a few years ago and was impressed by the standard of football. I have also seen some of their top players from Scotland flounder down here and ex Grimsby lads excel up there. As you say it's a different game up there.
