He's been favourite for just about every EFL League 2 vacancy that has come up this season, so we know he'll be in demand. IF he gets us up this season he'll be with us next season and he won't stop until he gets us as high up the league as he can - he thinks with a few additions he can take us straight through L2 to L1.... so yes he's very ambitious and confident and will one day end up Managing in the Championship or higher - although not with us...
He's been favourite eh? Funny, because I've seen him mentioned with any of the clubs who've had a vacancy this season. Got

And if he gets you up, then thinking he'll stay with you is naive. A mid-sized L1 club comes knocking, he'll be off like a shot and he'd be stupid not to.

As for thinking your current squad can take you straight up, again, naive. Teams at this level of fully pro, better training, better prepared, bigger, faster, stronger. They are of better quality. Yes, there are always a few basket cases, but stepping up a level is very hard. You make it sound like a breeze. Very few teams go through this league. Heck, look at Salford and their mega millions, stuck in mid-table. That's where you'll almost certainly be next season, no matter who you sign.

He was bookies favourite for Grimsby at odds of 1/2 at one stage, He was even's for the Cambridge job with one bookmaker.... it's been a regular thing since he was favourite for the Rochdale job last season.....
As for teams at L2 level being fully pro - do you know how many teams in the conference are part time now? only 3 or 4 at most.

Bookies odds mean nothing because they fluctuate with the amount of money being put on, and at the lower levels, a small amount can shift them hugely.

You're not quite in the FL yet, but you're hugely underestimating the gap. Aside from the step-up in general play, you'll find it difficult financially to compete which will bring its own problems, especially as you have other NW clubs, such as Accy and Rochdale, who can offer L1 football, more money at Salford or Bradford for other NW players (assuming you still train around Manchester and only in Barrow for matches). You'll probably be competing with Morecambe for players.

I think that Barrow and Dale occasionally share training facilities at Salford Uni. Works quite well at the moment, but might not be the same with two league clubs - and certainly not if in the same division (we're not safe by any means, although Tranmere, Southend and Bolton are conspiring to make it so).

Very true, to be honest Barrow are only even a mid size (if that) VNL club with a small budget that Evatt has worked wonders with. I could see them stopping up with him in charge a full season but if he got a better offer, I'd have them as odds on to come down for the reasons you give.

Barrow train at Hopwood Hall in Rochdale where the facilities are good

Bloody posh place that’s very nice for a visit, but the ground is absolutely atrocious. Would be comfortably the worst ever seen in the football league, and that’s considering that Crawley exist. Plus they’d have to rip up their plastic pitch. Imagine you’ll see them accidentally-on-purpose lose in the playoffs.

stranger things have happened........

If you come up to League two then you probably need to get in a few experienced players, especially to shore up the defence such as two been there got the book CBS. Otherwise you might leak goals.

My observation when we went up to League one there were two key differences. First, the quality of strikers goes up a notch or two. We were still shooting at the barn door five or six times and maybe getting one, whereas our opponents would have two maybe three chances and be two up. The other difference was one of guile. Players were much better at being rough, but also successfully going down to get fouls. We were naive lambs. In the first couple of months we have something like five or six sending offs. Very often our players were stupidly retaliating to niggles the ref did not see.

Would love to see Harrogate and Halifax promoted. I suspect Barrow will be one of the teams though. Its a long time since I watched Bradford City at Barrow, I'm guessing mid 70's. I remember the trips to Barrow and Workington in the same season, it seemed to take ages to get to them, and they both felt like places at the end of the earth

we got kicked out at the end of the 1971/72 season - so it'll be then or before.

Names from the past, add Bradford Park Avenue to those two and that completes those who used to be regulars at THE County Ground during my early years (1964---) who haven't been around the Football league for circa 50 years...

We have played Morecambe and Carlisle home and away on Tuesday evenings this season...you can bet it will be the same for Barrow next season if they are promoted!

I have seen Barrow and Workington at Cleethorpes when they were league sides, but never been to either town to watch us play away.

More recent non-league teams like Boston, Kidderminster, Dagenham & Redbridge, Halifax, Wrexham, Chester, Chesterfield, Stockport, Notts County and Bury (can't be arsed to remember them all) have seen me at their plaices (sic) though.

I prefer to look up though and remember the times we played at a higher standard than currently.

Do we need to roll out the Mansfield open top bus picture?

Please don’t.

My bit of advice is to roll it out again when we win something again, purely because it will take us down a notch or two.

To be sure it was a very strange thing to mock over.

Wheels falling off the bus, why would I be on about a actual stagecoach on a football forum.

Didn’t know Bradford was such a hilly city though, might come in handy if it pops up in The Chase one day.

Our hill is bigger then any of Bradford's though. Massive.

As long as Southend come down and Bromley & Boreham Wood don’t come up I’ll be happy enough. I suppose MK Franchise getting relegated is always a pleasure to see, but would then involve us having to actually play the two-bob plastic c***s.

If Boringwood are promoted, how many times will they be outnumbered by away fans?
(with the obvious exceptions of Crawley, Morecambe, Salford and FGR)

First day of the 16/17 season we took 150-odd there. Quite possibly outnumbered them even with that few!

Fair enough, probably a close run thing. Can imagine a few sides more than doubling the home support.
