Accrington Stanley V Sunderland will be a league fixture next season barring a miracle, incredible.

Looks like Hull City are safe. Good.

I don't think this relegation battle is done and dusted as far as Sunderland and Burton are concerned. Bolton, Brum and Barnsley all have very tricky fixtures this weekend and a winner from the Sunderland vs Burton game could make this go down to the wire. Also, tricky though Sunderland's run-in looks, they have actually taken seven points out of nine from the reverse fixtures, Fulham being the first team to lose at the SoL in nearly a year.

Sunderland have to go the rest of the season unbeaten to have any chance, probably have to win all 3 really.

They're not avoiding defeat to both Wolves and Fulham.

I fancy Burton to pull it off more than Sunderland, and I still think they are both down.

Good predication but that result and how it came about really summed up Sunderland's season!

If Burton can beat Bolton next week then they'll go above 'em and possibly out the bottom three going into the final day. Hopefully we can finish the job at QPR next week and not have to worry about the last game.

In reality, it was ex-Owl Maghoma who got the winning goal... :bdick:

Well done on spending millions and millions and scraping survival, massive crowd there too today for the game.

We have given ourselves a chance - nothing more.
Have to beat Bolton on Saturday. At least we probably will not finish bottom, and should get a good crowd and atmosphere Saturday. A draw is no good to us now, it’s all about grinding out wins somehow.

What a win yesterday for you, backed you to win too which helped me to win £816.96

Sunderland's relegation mirrors ours

  • 2 successive relegations from the PL to L1? check
  • Shit players on huge sums of money who dont even play? check
  • Shit Irish defenders years past their sell by date? check
  • Owners who are scared to invest? check
  • ...Managed by Mick McCarthy? check

There will be a Sunderland revolution at some point. New owner, new players, start winning again, crowds will return, and before you know it they will be challenging for promotion to the premier league. It won't be easy, and you only have to look at Leeds, Wednesday, and forest to see how hard it can be. Name means fuck all. It genuine good owner with ambition is crucial.

Do you reckon they will bounce back as quickly as you did though? They've had a much worse season than you did in 2012/13 (you went down with what would have been enough points to keep you up most seasons) and have been on a losing run longer.

If we don't beat Forest Tuesday night then we're gone. We aren't going to get anything vs Brentford who are a quality side, and Derby will beat us if they need to to get in the play offs (and probably will even if they don't need to)

It'd be grimly hilarious if us and Bolton went down with Burton staying up.

I would probably be jealous too if you had Jota. Not our fault you always shop at Poundland for players no one wants.

Not even the best Jota in the WM.
Jota has been different class since Garry Monk’s come in. He was brilliant against Sheffield United and levels apart from Duffy, Brooks, etc. Different type of player to Diogo Jota but at his best (second half of last season), Jota is a more effective player.

He's a fantastic player to be fair, by far the best player on the pitch on day one against Brentford, however the Poundland players have performed far better this season. Sure you'll be challenging top 6 next year like you were meant to be doing this year anyway, you might be able to get 20k fans in too if you are, 2nd biggest crowd of the season of 23k with nearly 3k away fans, joke of a football club.

Makes me laugh Sheffield United giving it Jonny Big Potatoes because they've had a decent average attendance in their first season back at this level in what? 7 years?

We've been utterly shite and looked destined for the drop all year up until the few weeks and we've averaged roughly 21k. Which is a higher average attendance than you've had in 18 out of the last 25 years.

You get so giddy after a couple of results and always make stupid comments like this...
I was and look at us now, Harry's got us aiming for the top, the feel good factor is back at long last. Sometimes you just got to take one step back to take two forward.
and this....

And many, many others if I could be arsed to trawl back through some more of your posts.

We averaged more in every one of our league one seasons than you in the championship if I look further I guess we probably averaged more in the championship than you in the premiership, your city is double the size you're support is fucking wank, only this season has your away support bern very good as that is normally piss poor too.
