The lesson from Carlisle is that games in hand are worth nothing, you need to play your games on schedule or you're basically fucked.

A lot of clubs once had names that were more appropriate for when they competed in local leagues against teams from the same city. We were called Shaddongate United, which made sense when we were just one of a few Carlisle clubs and competed against other clubs from other parts of the city. We changed our name to Carlisle United in an attempt to represent the city in regional leagues, feeling it would increase our chances of getting accepted. I'm sure a lot of clubs are the same, but others line Tranmere and Port Vale never did that. FGR did change their name to Stroud FC once, but it didn't last long.

We were Burslem Port Vale in the early years.

Almost the Port Vale Spitfires in 2003

But yes we did originally have our location name although it’s assumed Port Vale is referring to the Valley of the Ports which is about half a mile or so from the current ground on the shipping canals (Longport, Westport, Middleport)

From Soccerstats. Columns are slightly off.

Seems a lot of the top teams have favourable fixtures remaining. Cambridge, Bolton, Bradford the ones who have played easier than the average remaining. (Although it constantly changes with results).

Forest Green should be looking to do well next 4 particularly, with the best PPG run in that period.

No problem. As I mentioned it's from the Soccerstats site > run in analysis. Not sure I can post links.

PPG is categorised for home and away.

eg FGR Home - 1.77 PPG, Away - 1.87, Overall - 1.82

2Forest Green28 (Games played)51 (Pts)1.82 (PPG)1.42 Played PPG1.23 Remaining PPG+0.19 Difference0.90
Next 4

So anyone who has played you will have the respective H/A on the played opponents. Anyone with you to play it will go on the Remaining opponents.

So for you, the average PPG of the matches played is 1.42. Remaining fixtures are 1.23. The +.19 is showing that the teams left to play average 0.19 less PPG than the matches you have played.

Your next 4 are an average of 0.90 PPG. The below is done for all remaining games in the other columns mentioned above but easy to just show the 4.

H - Southend (Away PPG 0.79)
H - Colchester (Away PPG 0.67)
A - Stevenage (Home PPG 1.20)
A - Grimsby (Home PPG 0.93)

If you hover over the PPG, it gives a list which may help you understand if my explanation is more confusing.

If only we'd known that before we decided to cut power to the town of Harrogate, give Cheltenham covid or soak Newports pitch. Oh well, you live you learn.

Point is more general then that, get the impression that sometimes clubs aren't exactly desperate to get certain games on, due to form/injuries or whatever. For example, there's been a few that have called off games with a few out with covid, when tbh they could have put a makeshift side together like we did with a few out earlier in the season. We also witnessed Oldham pressuring the officials to get the first game at our place called off, when we were doing every thing to try and somehow get it played. More recently seen clubs being more flexible, moving kick off times. back a day or whatever. Why wasn't that being done earlier in the season?

At the end of the day, it's usually better in the long run to get games played as even if you lose that day, it won't fuck you up as much in the long run as when you get a massive pile up.

Colchester called our game off at their place because they had two players who tested positive. We went all the way down there despite telling the EFL we had two missing for the same reson but were happy to play. Called off an hour before kick off. That seemed very dodgy.

Watch FGR fall off a cliff in coming matches with loss of three 1st teamers: captain Chris Stokes, Dan Sweeney & Bailey Cargill.
Plus Moore-Taylor is playing with a dodgy knee.

Earlier this season us and Vale each had 10 players out and yes, we did fall off the cliff.

Updated stat breakdown

Current Table (max points achieveable)

Cambridge 52 (97)
FGR 51 (102)
Cheltenham 50 (103)
----------
Morecombe 49 (97)
Tranmere 48 (99)
Newport 47 (98)
Exeter 46 (101)

----------
Salford 45 (96)
Bolton 44 (92)
Carlisle 43 (103)
Bradford 40 (94)

PPG Table

FGR 81
Cheltenham 79
Cambridge 77
----------
Tranmere 76
Exeter 76
Carlisle 76
Morecombe 75
----------
Newport 75
Salford 71
Bradford 66
Bolton 63

PPG Table based on last 10 games form
Example Tranmere 48 points from 29 games.
21 points in last 10 so 2.1 x 27 (last 10 games + 17 remaining games) + 27 (points from 1st 19 games) = 83.7 points

Tranmere 84
Cambridge 79
Cheltenham 79
----------
FGR 77
Bradford 77
Exeter 75
Morecombe 73
----------
Bolton 70
Carlisle 68
Newport 66
Salford 65

After last nights games
FGR Max points now 102
FGR still top the league on PPG but the lead is reduced, Newport move level with 7th on PPG
10 game form PPG see's FGR drop into playoffs and Cambridge move into auto's, Newport still have a lot of improvement to find and hope for a drop off in performance levels of the teams above them

Fixture backlogs will not matter to Carlisle as they will just put their amazing reserve team or youth team out and they will just carry on smashing everybody with those, Carver said so.

Is Cargill injured as well? What sort of a backline are we going to be able to field without any of them, A back 4 of Cadden, JMT, Dokes and Bernard would probably be the shortest back 4 in the division, all under 6ft.

If we play Elliot Hewitt and Joe Bunney in the full back positions, I reckon we're probably in with a shout of tallest back four with Pollock and Waterfall.

Proper bunch of roof inspectors you've got at the back there then.

Hopefully we'll have Stokes/Cargill back by the time we play you in that case, or corners/set pieces are going to be interesting.

What a load of pish.......We have signed 4 players who have played regularly ranging from the premier league down to lge1.....Add that to another 4 loan signings and Miller,Arthur in the squad after early season injuries
We are a completly different team......Bradford less so but they are not the same team as early season.

Newport, Morecambe and FGR will limp in to the end of the season

We’ve signed a few ex Premier League players... cant think of any who’ve really stood out. Usually a reason why they are EX and in L1
Or 2.

The worst midfield we’ve had in years had two ex premier league midfielders in it!

My info is second hand so might be inaccurate.
Hope so.
You should have a massive highly paid squad like we allegedly have. All 29 of them including 4 youth players with a highest weekly wage of £1,500.

Jay Spearing is only a millionaire because some overspending club in the Manchester area paid him £40,000 a week.
