Its on tv sometimes. It is like watching bad National League football. The fact that Welsh and Irish clubs have regularly beaten clubs from that division in The challenge cup they have says it all. Notts County would have won that this season if they had wanted it.

At least half of the Scottish League clubs would struggle in the NLN. A lot wouldnt get in on ground standards. Its on a par with the Welsh Premier League mostly. Almost every club from League 1 and 2 would be top level clubs in 4 years. Championship and above would be European regulars.

Some years ago a supporter's coach for one of FGR's opponents mistakenly turned up there to watch a game.

Slightly back on subject but I have just noticed that Tranmere has an affinity to teams from Gloucestershire:

• In 2015 Tranmere were relegated to the NL alongside Cheltenham [Gloucestershire]
• In 2017 Tranmere were Wembley promotion finalist against FGR [Gloucestershire]
• In 2019 Tranmere secured promotion to EFL 1 via play-offs by beating FGR [Gloucestershire]
• 2021 Tranmere are one of the firm favourites for promotion alongside Cheltenham [Gloucestershire] & FGR [Gloucestershire].

I would be happy if that affinity remains solid for rest of season and all three of our teams are promoted.

Similarish I guess in 89/90 Grimsby Southend and Cambridge were all promoted together to Division 3 then the next season all 3 were promoted together again to Division 2.
I can’t remember any other instances of 3 teams all achieving back to back promotions together.

We were called Shaddongate United, which made sense when we were just one of a few Carlisle clubs and competed against other clubs from other parts of the city. We changed our name to Carlisle United in an attempt to represent the city in regional leagues, feeling it would increase our chances of getting accepted. I'm sure a lot of clubs are the same, but others line Tranmere and Port Vale never did that. FGR did change their name to Stroud FC once, but it didn't last long.
