Can we have Dean Cox and Jay Simpson please?
If you bid enough money, you may get one or both. But I don't think Becchetti would sell either personally, but you never know!

Eight players released so far; Jerome Okimo, Jack Jebb, Adam Marriott, Aaron O'Connor, Lee Cox, Charlie Adams, David McAllister and Rohdell Gordon.

Nothing too surprising there. Shame about Marriott and McAllister but only 9 appearances between them this year and both had questionable injury records last year too, can't afford to keep players that'll barely play.

We can only release one player because our previous manager loved to hand out absurdly long contracts to the likes of Dany N'Guessan and Gary MacKenzie who were that shit they couldn't even get on our bench.

Dark times.

We've released ten: Chris Weale, Simon Gillett, Shaun Jeffers, Jack Compton, Jordon Gibbons, Marc Laird, Leroy Lita, Jakub Sokolik, Wes Fogden and Mark Beck.

We've offered new contracts to 6 and have 6 already under contract for next season.

What a fall from grace Leroy Lita has had, only a couple of years ago I wanted us to sign him permantly after a succesful loan spell with us.

He didn't do a lot for us. Scored against Bristol Rovers but that was it. Also in one game he demanded to take a pen that he then missed.

I wouldn't mind McAnuff at rovers if he's fit.

We seem to be adopting a piecemeal approach this season.

Curtis Weston and Sam Togwell have signed on again on a 2 and 1 year deal respectively.

Togwell is more than good enough if we want to push on next year. Weston is more up for debate, especially on a 2 year deal. We don't play in a way that suits his game and he suffered for it last year.

We have, as expected released no one because of the depressingly long contracts handed out by Dickov and his cronies last summer. That was so negligible it's almost hard to believe.

Anyway, the following have been transfer listed...
Gary MacKenzie - dogshite, barely played and shipped off on loan last season.
Thorsten Stuckmann - he's not great but if Chris fucking Neal's is his replacement I'll drop-kick Fergie so fucking hard
Billy Whitehouse - rubbish, I thought his contract had actually ran out lol Dickov even gave 13 year olds long contracts
Curtis Main - scored shit loads at Oldham, we shipped him out when they looked down and we were close to the playoffs. Somehow he wasn't called back when at one point it looked like he was single handedly relegating us. Classic Fergie.
Dany N'Guessan - how the hell was he given a 2 yr contract ffs? Literally never played. Not even attended games, could well be in hiding.

And Richard Chaplow and Nathan Tyson could also be leaving who are slightly better.

Still, it's looking like we've kept the bulk of our squad. Copps, Williams, Butler, Alcock, Keegan, Middleton.

Danny N'Guessan should have settled down and been a decent L1 player. Not sure what's happened there.

Another 2 bite the dust at Luton Town - Elliot Justham and Matt Robinson's contract terminated by mutual consent and join the 11 players last week who were told they were no longer required. A big turnover again this summer.

We currently have 13 first teamers + 7 development/first year professionals on our books (12+6 not including Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu and Zane Banton who's contract negotiations are ongoing).

Justham is one of the worst professional goalkeepers I've seen. Not laugh out loud bad, but viewing him a few times has left me thinking how the fuck are you in the pro game.

Not sure I'd go quite that far on Justham but I'm pleased he's gone. He's not good enough for this level. Him and Robinson are two that Still really believed in but they never delivered on his big promises about their potential. Justham just never gave you any confidence when he was in the game you knew he was only a few minutes away from dropping a routine cross of letting a shot go straight through his legs (like Southend away). He's still young so you could hope that he would improve but he's shown no signs of improvement in the 3 seasons at Luton.

We've released Brian Murphy, made countless amount of mistakes this season so not a shock at all. Adam McGurk, Kal Naismith and Matt Tubbs have all been transfer listed. McGurk has been poor, Naismith I'd keep as he's shown glimpses of quality and with a run in the team would do well. Tubbs just doesn't fit into Cook's plans.

He will do a job, but he was on £7.5k here a week when he first joined us and is prone to injuries as he is nearly 34. He was poor value for money with us.

He is still plays for Jamaica, so I'd expect him to end up somewhere in North America if I'm honest.

I was just amazed we annouced a list to be honest :bl:

All expected, except Hunt - The joke is literally on him as he has been forced to stay! Having said that, his form has been nothing better than ok here and any decent young quick player winger will get the better of him. Happy enough if he is a squad player, but we have two first choice right backs now which makes the decision overall, very bizarre.

He was the same for us. He was steady at right back and his expierence was certianly a factor to why we did so well early on. Always got beat by the pacey winger though but he used his expierence to win fouls etc.

yeah,we wouldn't be paying anything like that in wages and at 34 probably doesn't fit Clarke's profile for a permanent signing( I didn't realise he was that old tbh)

He was on 50% of that last season to be fair. Thought £3,500ish wasn't as bad value as people are suggesting.

Weren't Orient paying Andrea Dossena £15k a week not too long back?

What went wrong with McGurk Pompey fans? He always looked a real handful for Burton.

McGurk has normal hair now but hasn't done a great deal apart from a screamer at Oxford

Agreed on Justham. I don't see him having much of a future in the game as he just doesn't do the basics right, e.g. getting his body behind shots. Even when he makes saves they end up looking really unconventional and weird because his footwork is terrible. And for a big guy he is horrendous at dealing with crosses.

Obviously we need a new keeper and that is going to be one of our most important bits of business this summer. We've been unbelievably lucky to have Mark Tyler as our number one for however many seasons it was, the one constant in a time of huge turnover. The only real time in my watching lifetime that we've had such a consistent number 1 for so many years (Marlon Beresford was good for a few seasons then fell off a cliff badly in his last year, Kelvin Davis was amazing but didn't stick around too long, Feuer was god-like initially then declined dramatically and left shortly after... every other keeper I can remember has been varying degrees of shite really).

One of the first teamers is out until at least Christmas and quite possibly a fair bit longer than that you would think, looked a real nasty injury. Not a huge deal as he's done fuck all since joining us and I suspect may have been on the chopping block prior to that injury but yeah, we've got a fair old bit of business to do looking at the numbers.

Jones says he wants a core squad of 20 with youngsters filling the gaps. I think we will almost certainly sign Sheehan and Pigott when their contracts expire and Jones confirmed he wants Rea too, if we can't get him then presumably we would still be in the market for another centre half (with Musonda as the fourth choice, he deserves a go stepping up after the yoof success this season). Obviously we want a keeper too, so that takes us to 17 (16 excluding Green, 15 if Pelly doesn't sign).

We look light at full back now that potential stand-ins Howells and Lawless have gone, although Sheehan can play left back and Cuthbert supposedly can play right back (not very well on what we have seen but hopefully he will recapture his Orient form next year). We have lots of centre mids still but none are particularly good, wouldn't be surprised to see Doyle or Smith move on and bring in a Jones player in that area (also if we can hang on to Bakinson he will surely be given chances in the first team, real prospect there if Spurs don't nab him). Wide options are basically nil apart from make-shift wide players like McCourt and Pelly, strikers we have numbers but all very similar players and if we could offload CMS or McQuoid without paying them off we'd surely have to consider it.

Lots of work to be done, so far Jones's recruitment has been promising so I'm pretty excited to see who he brings in.

I'd take Kal Naismith - looked decent on loan here even though he only played a couple of times.

Those are three players who could well do a good job for someone else in this division.

Just so long as there are no gentleman's agreements about not playing them against Pompey, or in a match which affects Pompey, or in any competition in which Pompey play or against any team with a vowel in their name.
