Thought I'd put this up. Have your club released their retained list yet? I see Carlisle have and I suspect most will sometime this week. Well, those teams that aren't in play off action of course.

So, who has been kept and who has been let go? Interesting to see what names are hitting the free agency market.

Cambridge have released Ryan Donaldson.

He was our best player as we were promoted and played really well the first half of last season. At that point I was convinced we'd end up selling him to a big L1 / Championship club.

For some reason his form has been terrible ever since. We've all been willing him to improve as there is definitely a talented player there but after 18 months grace it's the right decision for him to go.

He needs a fresh start but if someone can give him a kick up the arse they'll have a very good L2 attacking midfielder.

He'll always be remembered at United for scoring one of the most important goals in our history

To quote Sean Derry:

Derry admitted it was a tough call to release Donaldson as well as let Simpson go by mutual consent, but he felt it was best for both players as well as United.

It seems that freedom from serious injury and ability to get properly fit has allowed Harrison Dunk to make the step up this season, whilst being played whilst injured (especially at the end of last season as we chased survival in the League) and inability to regain full fitness has held Ryan back.

They'll both remain legends but be better off finding a niche elsewhere.

Must admit surprised you are releasing Donaldson as I have liked him a lot when I have seen Cambridge.

I have watched Cheltenham a lot this season and really like the new team that Gary Johnson has put together.

Glad that Harry Pell has rediscovered his form as on his day he is an excellent League 2 player.

Fancy Cheltenham to finish in top half next season personally.

He's contributed absolutely nothing since January 2015, either through being injured or by being utter fucking shite (or by being too big for his boots if rumours are to be believed). Deserves his place in history for that goal but mighty relieved that he's gone, I don't think he'll contribute much to League 2 if he's in it next season.

We've made four players available to move on:

Champion is a bit of a surprise as he's done well enough when given a chance but I don't think the manager fancies him. Signed a two year deal so won't be going anywhere unless someone is prepared to take him. Same for Ben Tomlinson but I'd have more hope of him moving on as he did quite well at Barrow on one of his many loans to the National League.

Vilhete will always be remembered as the guy that scored the goals to win promotion, but another that was sent out on loan and never really in the manager's plans. I think he, like Champion and Tomlinson, will find themselves clubs at National League level next year.

Batt when he signed was reported to have signed on a two year deal, so if he has one year to go, then there is more chance of getting a fat bloke to leave the buffet, than there is of him leaving.

It seems some have run away so they can't be told they have been released so this is not a full list.

I am so pleased that Barnard has gone. I don't think I've seen a player who epitomises turning up for the pay packet more. He jogged through games trying to get fouls and pushing people.

On a slight side step I hear that Ipswich have released Yorweth who has been on loan with us. When he first came to us he was a decent centre back. I think we may have ruined him.

Mark Roberts, Keith Keane, Elliott Omozusi, Jeff Hughes, Danny Carr. I reckon that could be the £7k+ a week right there.

So are you trying to cut your wage budget then by offloading Roberts, Keane etc.

Not necessarily cutting the wage budget, just not splashing cash we don't have. They were Money's signings and haven't played under Derry but all are on a contract for next year.

Derry will likely have to move at least some of them on to free up wages for new players.

I'd be surprised if clubs at this level don't try to sign Derek Asamoah. He's getting on towards the back end of his career but he's still lightning quick and makes an impact nearly every time he plays.

He's the only one on our released list that I would have kept.

No great surprises there. There's no chance of Inman staying though. I'm not sure if Murdoch ever got fit but I don't remember him even playing for the under-21s. Mullarkey, Kearns and O'Neill never even seemed to get near to the first team and Howell made a couple of sub appearances but there might well be better coming through.

Disappointed that it's ended this way for James Baillie - he has so much talent. I hope that he can recover somewhere else and make a career for himself. I had hoped that Andre Brown would get a bit more time, he's another clearly talented one. Maybe Owen Dale has just moved ahead of him in the reckoning.

Inman will be gone and in my view good riddance, too much of a passenger but can't help but think Davis has stifled his development. 50:50 on Bakayogo, want him to stay but can see a League One club after him.

Delighted to see the back of Haber, him and his dodgy clobber can do one back to Canada. Gutted for Baillie who was the victim of a brutal character assassination by Steve Davis and the injury prone LDV will be sad to lose but an understandable decision given the circumstances.

Assuming Steve Davis is sacked and we later stay up, next year's release list will see the end of Turton, Ray, Davis Jnr and Bingham. I cannot wait for that wonderful day in the future.

Young left-back, got him from Reading last summer. Been very good for us though don't think he'd be ready to start in League 1. Not sure if there's any truth to the rumour at all, just seen it mentioned on Twitter and our forum.

No surprises on our retained list. LDV never got played in the right system, mostly played upfront by himself for some stupid reason. I think under a decent manager, he could be a good pickup for a team at this level. Haber is a poor mans Pogba in that he looks terrible for the most part, yet still scores goals. Scored 10 this season amazingly, he is another that could be a good signing at this level if used properly. Fox was awful from the second half of the season onwards. Atkinson....erm...nope, got nothing. Can't think of a single positive thing he did. What a waste of space he was for 2 years.

I'm not arsed about Baillie, think some got carried away with the strong start he had. Didn't look up to much. Murdoch looks a talented player, just can't stay fit unfortunately. Brown is a shame, I can see him having a reasonable non-league careers.

Like TNO, I hope Inman clears off. 3 years and over £250k worth of investment and he's never had more than 1 good month of form. Caused issues in the dressing room, often looked disinterested. Probably the managers doing, but I'm fed up of Brad. He won't stay, could easily find himself a L1 gig.

No. We had Lauri Dalla Valle. The guy you are thinking of is Lyle Della Verde who has just been released by Crawley.
