thanks for modding my original "Saturday games only" post which ignored Bolton/Wxm...guess I'll have to get used to having to check for rearranged fixtures given all this new Sky bullshit. oh well...
They might have to be re-labelled as 'Match Weekend 02,03' etc with having some games being on a Fri,Sat,Sun & Monday....

Home against Exeter. Tom Eaves is still recovering from a calf injury and wont be back until next month. We desperately need another forward in as we look so lightweight up top. Fosu looked really lively midweek (one of the few positives) so hoping he gets a start. See a narrow home loss for us sadly despite our good record at home to Exeter from memory.
Caldwell was saying in his press interview today that you’ve gone a bit more direct in the first couple of games, compared to last season? If so it’ll be a good test of our new back line.

Reckon we’ll maybe only see one change from last weekend as Vinny Harper is a doubt.

Can’t see this being a goal fest. Reckon a goal either way, or a 1-1 draw.

Looking forward to our, and mine, first home game this season. This has got goals written all over it and I think Crawley might get a bit of a wake up call tomorrow despite us being far from the finished article yet. Signs were that we were getting our shit together in the second half on Tuesday night. Should have won the game by a country mile and surely would have if it hadn’t been for the 2 first half keeper blunders. The big question is does Monk start Barton after his wonderful full debut on Tuesday against QPR? I think he’ll keep him benched and see how things go, but what an option off the bench if he can repeat that performance consistently. Decent home crowd building so the first time we will have home supporters in all 4 stands. Will be interesting to see if some of our more noisy support moves stands to be closer to the away support. Only 300 odd from Crawley won’t make much noise though. It will certainly be interesting as the season progresses and bigger and rowdier away support arrives in what used to be a home stand.
Prediction home win by two clear goals.

Trundling up to Cambridge tomorrow. Have they still got cows? Being harassed by a heffer on the way in was a change.

Expecting a tough game but hoping for a good performance. Not expecting a win but it would be nice.

No cows anymore near the ground so you should be safe. If driving allow yourself plenty of time to get parked up as it may be a bit chaotic round the ground due to roadworks here there and everywhere . Have a safe journey and enjoy the game.

He is absolutely correct. Marc Leonard was so good at taking the ball off the defenders and making us play and we now have no one else that can do that. Maybe Sowerby who is injured currently. It wouldnt be as frustrating if we didnt have tiny forwards who just get bullied. Looking forward to getting Tom Eaves fit in a few games time.

Completely agree on a lack of goals in this one.

Scrappy opening half hour at The Valley. Both teams playing quite well without creating anything much. Lots of niggly fouls and head clashes. One poor challenge from Sean Clare which resulted in what looked like an ankle injury for Josh Edwards. Deserved the yellow card it got. Neither keeper made a save. 1-0 Charlton written all over it.

*Disappointed but not surprised.gif*

Shit goal to concede late on. Shame because Charlton created absolutely nothing all game. Ref gave them absolutely every decision but we stuck in there and had the odd moment going forward. Irritating to have not picked a point up in both games against much-fancied sides, who have both had ludicrous depth coming off the bench to affect games. Bodes well for the future against the more mediocre teams.

I was just about to post be kicking ourselves not to be winning at half time, first 25 pretty even, Burton looking quick on the counter. After that we just started racking up chances, taking turns like they were in a queue. Got to be more clinical, but then we get another scruffy goal in extra time.

Didn't deserve to lose I thought, but we faded in the second half and Charlton grew stronger I thought. But despite that clear chances were few and far between, but Berry tucked home at the end after we failed to deal with a long ball.

After we made all the subs it hindered us more, we also had one of those days where we overplay too much in the final third. Mannion in goal didn't really have much to do.

The ref was shocking for both sides, some odd decisions and bookings. The fact that both managers were booked says it all.

Our squad depth against the stronger sides in this league I think is going to hinder us at times.

hahaha we’ve had enough chances to win five games and Aden Flint just gave the game away via calamitous defending.

Will Evans and DKD missed 1v1 in the second half.

So we’ve equalised near the 100th minute, so you think that’s a point salvaged but it definitely still feels like two points dropped. Missed about 10 sitters.

Aden Flint had only his second bad game in a Stags top, the other being Crawley last season. Just one of those days. Got to be more clinical across the board, Evans and DKD in particular who missed sitters with loads of time to tuck it away.

Burton looked dangerous on the break, but Notts Countyesque in defence, loads of mistakes in them.

We are missing 4 defenders in fairness. Judge us at Xmas. We should stay up I think. Bodin is an absolute steal. Happy with a point but hard to take so late.

What a strange game against Barnsley. We start strongly and yet again give away a silly goal. Was it a O'Connor poor header across to Cosgrove who finished well.

Took us a while to get going, but apart from the goal, it was a very even first half.

Poor start 2nd half yet again and they go 2-0 up, far too easy. Beat Duffy at LWB and header into the net.

After thay we slowly got more and more into it. A good finish from House and you're confident we'd get something from it. Barnsley were crumbling.

Have to say though, final 5 minutes they saw it out well. Overall I don't think our keeper had to make a save.

Barnsley keeper looking very dodgy with his kicking. Barnsley fans a very strange bunch. Trying their best to wind up the Lincoln fans, enjoy your win. Didn't make any sense.

Blackpool are diabolical
Unbeaten at home since November

Blackpool fans singing "where we you when you were shit" made me laugh. When County kept getting relegated we still pulled the crowds in; when it happened to Blackpool they 'boycotted'. Still remember loads of orange shirts when we played Fylde.

Drab for 60 minutes, and we were deservedly behind. Then Brady introduced Tarique Fosu and it changed the game, first time seeing him and he is so visibly too good for us. The ball was glued to him when he got it and it made everyone else better, got some atmosphere in the ground and got us playing. From then it was a bit of a tide towards the Exeter goal and we got the equaliser and then the winner.

Tough on Exeter but god we needed that.

Going to enjoy reading “beaten by fucking Stockport” a lot this season.

Early days of course but think we are more than capable of holding our own at this level and our start has pleasantly surprised me - just the 12 injured players to return as well..

That was embarrassing. I was told at lunchtime we were going 4 at the back to counter what Crawley would do, which is 1) bonkers when we played so well on Tuesday and 2) crazy when we have been shit for the last few years against 3 at the back, which Crawley play, when we play 4-2-3-1, which we did.

We're in a lot of bloody trouble.

Tight game, no real chances first half (might of missed an early one). Two teams trying to play but cancelling each other out. Big change happened when we brought on Camars and Bragg. Cambridge couldn't get out and our possession stats went through the roof. All the intricate play it was a ball over the top, down the channel that led to the goal. Adeyemo took it well but....

Great day out in the Green Dragon watching oarers and cygnets.

We are missing more than that, our defence was 50% strikers. Funnily enough our best defender was at fault for the third.

Referee was dreadful.
He missed 2 stonewall penalties - one for eadh team.
The equaliser was a penalty - it’s a shove. Although sometimes you get away with it.
9 players out. So it’s a decent point i guess.
I get the feeling this season we will score 80 goals and concede 90-100.

Good first half and we looked
levels above Stevenage , 2nd was lax and a better team would’ve got something out of it. All in all though a great start to the season and a couple more to come in hopefully.
Lincoln fans weren’t wrong about Sorensen, looks a bargain.

Beaten fair and square by an expensively assembled Brum team.

We scored fairly early doors utterly against the run of play, but were under the cosh for most of the game - BCFC can ping the ball about all day but also attack with pace.

And Alfie Fucking May scored, which was distressing.

But yeah, no complaints, we’ve played worse than that and won.

Burbigum are just one of those sides that you can’t afford to switch off against or they’ll punish the mistake, whereas for many L1 sides their finishing is too poor to be able to exploit oppo mistakes.

And I’d expect them to give at least one poor bunch of fuckers an absolute pasting at some point.

If this season turns up an equivalent of Carlisle from last season, or FGR from a couple of seasons back, then I wouldn’t want to be that team when they face Brum.

Just to give everyone a flavour of how the first half went, in the opening 5 minutes there were 5 long throws, which took an age to set up and their GK was taking free kicks from the halfway line...

Draw was a fair result, we created more chances in both halves but we got a little bit sucker punched with their first goal after a wayward O'Connor header, albeit a good finish into the far corner on the half volley and conceded a minute into the second half, which is never ideal (Duffy targetted again) and Barnsley didn't need to try and do anything from that point.

As last week, too many long balls again (or at the very least making every long ball a back to goal duel and not hitting the channel) when we looked better playing through the thirds and it's still blindingly obvious we need a proper LWB, a striker who's a genuine threat in behind and the midfield with a better balance to it and thankfully McGrandles was back on the bench today so the latter might be sorted for next weekend.

Barnsley were as you'd expect from a Clarke side - strong, physical and awkward to play against but lacking much technical ability throughout the side. Be absolutely astounded if they get into the PO's based on that.
