If anyone gets us after christmas and it’s been wet our pitch will be a bog again - it’s shocking.

Yeah and unfortunately it’s to our own detriment, our home performances go downhill when the pitch gets boggy.

Didn't see all of Bolton vs Wrexham but after a decent start from the former it seemed to settle down and a draw a fair result.

Must say, and Wrexham fans know this already anyway, but for a side who spend so much money, I can't believe they've entered L1 with attacking options of Mullin, Marriott, Fletcher and Palmer. You'd have thought they would have got something over the line by now.

Mullin is unproven at L1 level but should score to be fair but Marriott and Fletcher are both past their best (don't think Marriott has hit double figures since his Posh days, albeit some seasons in the Championship between then and now) and Palmer isn't a L1 striker. Is that because Mullin's form has taken people's eyes off the ball on that area of the pitch because it's never really needed anyone other than him or difficulty getting strikers signed in L2 and now L1?

Stockport County.
Wrexham always have a couple of big deals late in the day. Don't be concerned for them.

And their forward line isn't that bad. I get it's not top 6 level at this moment but I wouldn't say there are loads of clubs with better options.

Wrexham don't play with wide forward type players so they have to be a certain type.

They'll bring 1 possibly 2 good forward options in before the window shuts.

Mullin and Marriott will be fine this level. We definitely need an upgrade though and most fans would say we need at least two new players. Fletcher is fine for short bursts to use his experience to see out a game but he's 37 at the end of the day so can't play too many minutes at a time. Palmer is definitely on the decline and Dalby, Waters and Bickerstaff aren't good enough (at least two of those are expected to leave soon). As an attacking unit they've been fine up to now (league tallies of 91,116 and 89 goals for the last three seasons) but have reached a level that's beyond the ones mentioned.

We've been linked with a lot of strikers this summer but it seems difficult to land our targets- we seem to be going for contracted players at Championship clubs so that may be the reason it's not been easy.

Yeah Wrexham will definitely splash the cash in the forward department before the window closes, in fact they will always strengthen near the deadline.

they were willing to pay a seven figure fee…..

I don't quite share your optimism over Marriott, clearly a player with quality but I just don't see him scoring goals regularly.

I'm sure we will sign a striker to add to what we've got but there's no point unless it's someone with real quality. Lots of outgoings to come before the end of the month so I could see us waiting until the end again.

Not in the slightest, I think you caught us at the right time.....Orient played as good as you but we scraped past them and got three points.
I do not think 3 up front and wingbacks works for us, we will get it right not sure who i would take out of your squad Mullin and Dobson perhaps
Early days yet and we will lose a few on the way, but i think we will be there or there abouts come next May

Yep, they leave it until the moves are all done with an eye on the repective situation of two or three targets in mind...and then make their move.
Trouble is, we've got another couple of games of struggling up front to go yet, but PP would rather wait and get the one(s) he really wants, rather than just buying someone/anyone, just to placate the fans.
It's long old season ahead.

I should hope so. You've been at this level a while now, anything less than promotion would be a failure at this point for a club your size and for your level of expenditure.

How many times did you (and, in fairness, us too) hear that in non-League

A few times. But we had no money so I was never sure what people were basing that on. History?

Bolton haven't been spending like Birmingham but haven't been stinting themselves in the last couple of seasons.

The team Evatt used to get us out of lge2 cost nothing in Transfer fees. We have ripped up that team/squad in each window since and in each window we have got stronger. You are correct anything less than promotion will see Evatt gone. I more than most do not see not going into the championship as failure until this season we was not ready as a club ie the infrastructure, team and club in general would have bled money we simply do not have.
Your Barnsley, Wigan, Rotherham are weaker for spending time in the Championship and returning to lge 1
Reading have been a basket case these last few years. Birmingham i think are very, very lucky as are Huddersfield as they can buy their way back to the Championship. Any number of clubs can come down this next season and wont yo/yo but will spend a long time as a club regressing and recovering from the money pit that is the championship.

Having seen your fantastic stadium & setup on Sunday...spare a thought for us then. That's why so many would prefer to see us 'consolidate' as they say.

We've literally only just managed to scrape an academy licence. After being initially rejected, we managed to get it approved by going in cahoots with a local school ffs!

The stadium, apart from the Mold Rd stand (itself, 25yrs old), has got early 70's written all over it. Piss-poor catering facilities, views obstructed by girders & pillars everywhere, a 'temporary' (roofless) stand (that's starting to look like it could become a Gillingham FC clone), etc etc.

The one thing it DOES have though...it generates a fantastic atmosphere & can be absolutely bouncing in big games!

Just watched extended highlights of Cambridge v Crawley. They had lots of chances first half.

The beer must of made me too relaxed because I can't recall being worried and with those chances I should have been.

It was a good battle and I was disappointed not to go in leading at ht with the chances we created but from 55/60 mins your manager was a lot more pro active and the subs certainly gave you the upper hand for the rest of the half, our subs had the total opposite, our keeper also has to shoulder the blame for the goal although it was a good finish.

Thought Kelly for you looked a good player, very rarely gave the ball away and worked his balls off.

We’re desperate for reinforcements and providing we get them I’m confident we’ll be fine this season, we’re down if we don’t though.

That stadium was starting to show its age until FV took over the club. Our Academy lost money hand over fist and decent players we brought through just got raided from us so that was discarded. We had a state of the art modern training ground that had to be sold off when the Administrators got called in, the hotel was run mainly by outside contracters that took any profit.
We have a training ground with basic facilities about half a mile from the ground, planning permission has gone in to re vamp that. The owners now run the hotel. The outside fanzone has been opened and gets 1k people each home game.
We have gone from around 8k season tickets to 17.5k All this has been acheived year on year since FV took us over.

You are going in my opinion too quick and a year or two in this league may not be a bad thing, doubt your owners share my view but unless they have deep, deep pockets they are going to crash and burn very quickly

I think the very mast majority of us fans have said the same, consolidation. We need the rest of the club to catch up with the on pitch issues. I highly doubt the owners want to languish in midtable for far too long, though.

I went to a podcast live event before the season started and our executive director Humphrey Ker was there and I think he is to calm Rob and Ryan down a little bit, and he mentioned that maybe we do need to slow down, let things catch up.

If the unimaginable was to happen and we go up again, we'd be the first team to go back to back to back promotions. We need a forward or 2 then we can really go for it, and need a lot of luck along the way.
