Speaking of dodgy Keepers. Paul Farnam again today, couldn’t catch a cold. Southend’s one effort on target, a less than powerful shot straight at him, old butter fingers spills it, luckily no Southend players were reactive enough to capitalise.

The sooner Norman is back the better, he can’t be worse than this guy. In the mean time I’d honestly throw the young boy Dewhurst in as Farnam is going to cost us bucket loads of goals.
Hell of a kick on him at least. After a decade of united keepers with dodgy distribution its nice to see a goal kick floated threateningly into the opposing penalty area.

Always thought Farman was good at Lincoln.

An absolutely woeful performance from us today. A relegation battle looks more likely than a promotion charge at the moment, which is crazy when you consider our recruitment this summer.

He can kick a ball far I’ll give him that.

The oddest part of our game was someone in the houses next to Exeter’s ground was blasting out music like a house party which you could hear!

I can't comment on our game as I didn't follow it at all, but winning 3-0 away at League One Tranmere will always be a good result.

I don’t think you’ve been following it for a while if you think Tranmere are in league one

An outstanding result for vale today! We now have 3 home games in our next 4 matches. Could potentially be an opportunity to really cement our intentions this season! Still don’t want to get carried away after only two matches but so far so good. League 2 seems to be a lot more wide open this year as it shows that Cambridge and us are the only sides with 100% records after just two matches

3 sides up next tipped to struggle/mid table (we know what that usually means!) but if we can perform as we have done we can hopefully get a good start.

It’s hard not to get carried away, the performances, results and positive vibes around the club under Carol etc. It’s chalk and cheese to what we’ve suffered the majority of the 21st century! Vale do have a habit of letting us down but does feel different maybe this time.

Conlon is a big plus. Started just before lockdown and into this season he has been outstanding, that free kick today and then the pass for Dave to run onto, Manny back to his best too. Askey has had recruitment spot on.

All this and McKirdy, Amoo, Gibbons, Pope still to come into the picture shortly.

Rodney is an interesting one too, most raised an eyebrow when we gave him a three year deal, a reject from Salford it seemed but he looks a real rough diamond, took the goal well, set up one last week and can’t be many faster in the league if any.

Sort his decision making (had a couple of chances to square it on the break for 2-0 first half for instance) and he could be a top prospect.

5-0 win away from home and top of the league. Lovely stuff.

I assume Bolton are second and hot on our heels so must kick on next week!

Our defeat to you last weekend does not seem as bad now after today.

I had you down as strugglers this season.

With a second lockdown coming, the clear option seems to be to finish the season now and go for ppg. It’s the only reasonable choice.

Cracking win again, just ruthless. Mullins, Hoolahan and Hannant are all playing so well.

I watched our match on ifollow and guess what. It stopped working for 5 minutes and those 5 minutes just happened to be when we scored the only two goals of the game to win.

Bloody typical, especially after watching our previous 3 games which were all defeats without us scoring.

I'd let them enjoy it mate while it lasts, because winning the opening 2 games and being joint top of L2 is a big thing for them after having so many seasons of nothingness.

A very blatant handball in the box just ignored by the ref
Don't know what you mean. Perfectly good save by our centre half!

Crawley scored a good goal...Scunthorpe keeper made a good save from Francomb.

I dont think I can explain just how shit we were today.

I dont like criticising opposition teams but any sign of a decent attack and we would have been massacred today. We had no focus for attacks, no ball retention, no tracking of opposition players going forward, half hearted tackling right through the team. How shit must Scunthorpe be to lose to that!

Joking aside, we were bloody awful!

Casey

Ps, just noticed. 38% possession at home, fewer shots, fewer corners.

Yes it is hard to not get carried away. I think the only reason I don’t want to get carried away is because I don’t want to be considered the same as our moronic neighbour fans who think they’re now world beaters because they’ve won two preseason friendlies and a Mickey Mouse cup tie against wolves.
Rodney has a lot of potential, really pleased that it was him that bagged a goal today. If he can gain some confidence in front of goal and the coaching staff can make him more intelligent with his decision making I think he has the raw potential to play in a higher league. Conlons freekick was outstanding, but the work ethic to win the ball back for the second goal was equally as good. I’m only 24 so I haven’t been lucky enough to experience Vale in what we would call our better days but I was able to witness our promotion season and in comparison to the squad of that era I think we are far more dangerous now. I’m happy that the lads have got a full week off before the next match against Harrogate. I just hope fans won’t be kept from going the matches because if this season is a good one they deserve to be there after what’s happened over the last few years.

Most amused by Mansfield’s tactics of taking the ball into the corner flag with 10 minutes to go. Pathetic stuff.

Still, it was a truly dreadful second half display from Orient and we probably deserved to lose. Controlled the first half without creating much, but went to pieces after the break. Both goals were absolute defensive horror shows and should have gifted a dismal hoof-and-win-the-second-ball Mansfield side three points. Bloody lovely equaliser in stoppage time, mind.

Tough run of fixtures coming up (trips to Walsall, Barrow & Tranmere, plus Cheltenham and Exeter in E10), so I’m pleased with our unbeaten start. Only playing Bolton out of the relegation candidates.

I’ll be worried if we ever see that tactic again so early.

A good team would get a third goal and kill the game.

It's a shame that we only have two points to show for all the positives in the first two games. We haven't shown many frills but our shape, fitness and workrate looks much better than last season.

We seem to be very well drilled and recruitment so far seems to be spot on.

Hoolahan will get the plaudits but I can see why Forest Green fans spoke highly of Paul Digby. He does the ugly stuff and is all over the park. Exactly what we’ve been missing for 2-3 years.

Ironside and Mullin aren’t the most dynamic front two but they are a handful.
