At least we've got no Salford fans gloating on here! Three lucky penalties' and a breakaway (with an easily conned young/new ref) saw us lose to a team I just can't stand. Manager in the 4th officials ear all game like last season again, players also trying to influence the game; shithousery all round really.

Plus we weren't strong or good enough to countered them.

Vale fans becoming the new Bolton fans
Believe you me I'm not in that category.
Optimistic yes but certainly not getting carried away here.
We have looked decent since the New year , horror show at Morecambe and our annual knobbing at Swindon but other than that we have been in very good form and more importantly the team is basically the same apart from one or two
Definitely optimistic but you can put that daft ship in the docks because stuff like that tends to bite you on the arse

I never liked Alexander at the Scunts. Hopefully they fail this season, but alas with the kind of money they are throwing around it’s only a matter of time before they go up the league(s).

I am sure their few hundred fans can’t wait to start playing the real big boys.

Good result although we weren’t great. Change of style for us passing out from the back will take a while to get used to, both sides fucked this up leading directly to 2 of the goals. Once we went 2-1 up we saw the game out well with no dramas. Barrow had a decent 20 mins or so in 1st half but were poor 2nd half chasing the game.

Why do Port Vale have so many arrogant fans? I know not all on here are so I’m not tarring you all with that brush. But there’s some that are insufferable, after 2 games, or even 1 game last week. Waving their cocks around and mocking others who’d had a less fortunate start to the season. Dread to think what it will be like if we get to 10 or 20 games in and they are still top 3.

I know and it's so embarrassing.

Port Vale are probably THE most bog standard and forgettable club of the lower leagues.

Not really. They are a proper league club, not like some others. Just seem to have a lot of arrogance amongst a portion of their fans.

That was the problem - we didn't do any chasing.

Yeah I suppose having barely any success for 20+ years would probably do that to some, but for them to claim they'll 'piss the league' after just winning the first two games is so egotistical.

It's been so so long for them since the last time, they're obviously having great trouble holding it in.

They finished last season on strong form and have added a lot of quality in the transfer window so I guess they've good reason to be optimistic.

When Carlisle were in the Conference you lot expected to piss it and thought you shouldn't be having to play against tinpot pub teams like us. Think most fans act arrogant from time to time.

Vale will be right up there, be surprised if they aren't top 3 minimum.

No we didn't... though we still don't think we should have to play tinpot pub teams like you the regular wins have softened the blow.

No problem with optimism, or pessimism. But the downright arrogance of a select few is different level. Like last weekend, Valiant Virgin or what ever you call him laughing at me because my team had lost 3-0 and telling me to enjoy relegation while Vale are guaranteed top 6 and anyone who says otherwise is a retard, all over a pre season league table prediction. Just an arrogant tit.

When you won 3-0 at The (old) Lawn your fans reckoned you were going straight back up and you'd never play us again.

Are Tranmere going to be this season's Mansfield? A team that make all the right noises in the summer, some eyecatching signings and fancied to go up, and then totally fail to gel under a rookie manager and spend the season bumming around the bottom third.

There is of course still plenty to suggest that Mansfield could be this season's Mansfield.

This was long before we had forums like this, or even our own forum though. The only people who posted on forums like 606 and footymad were three or four gobby shites from each club.

That said, you lot beating us at Brunton Park that season (and to be fair this was the old, just happy to avoid relegation to the dog and duck leagues incarnation of FGR) was a low point of my supporting career.

Sadly you are right, they sign a certain type of mercenary who doesn't care how they win a game, as long as they get their money. No matter where they are in the league, next transfer window they'll buy more of the same, it's only a matter of time before they go up.

I like to think I'm balanced others may disagree.
I get what people are saying about arrogance and as I said it comes back to spank you on the arse. We have reason for optimism not arrogance. Nothing is won or lost after 2 bloody games.
Remember pissing myself at Sheff United about 4 years ago think they lost their first 3 under Wilder and were bottom of the table.

Masi
No we'll never be a Bolton or a Stoke , Vale and Bolton has gone off for 40 years back to the 70's . All the knuckle draggers turn up and it's a guaranteed ruck. Not sure about the 10 onto 2 analogy when a lad I know had his cheek ripped open by a Bolton lad with a blade in 1988 .

Back to proper things, we have been given an opportunity with 4 of the first 6 at home to get a good start. Winning away at Exeter is a bonus , maybe years of a lunatic owner and the strange events that went on under him have sent us giddy now that we appear to be a stable club at last but nobody will piss this League.

Vale and Stoke, something they put in the water there? Very aggressive fans and have been for years, loads of overtime for the local police force every game. Strangely away from football Stokie's are usually OK.

There is a danger of that going on yesterday's performance. We were completely disorganised and it was our worst display since the dark days pre-Micky Mellon.

It sounds ridiculous to question a manager's ability after three or four games, and I would never normally do it, but a lot of our supporters are concerned now. The next couple of weeks are massive for Jackson.

Look what happened last time Tranmere came down from league 1....

Could lightening strike twice? 2 promotions followed by 2 relegations on the cards?

As I say I wasn’t tarring you all with the same brush, just a select few of your fans on here come across as very arrogant and cuntish. You’re not one by the way.

Think Phillips was joking to be honest. We’ve had enough failure to know nothing is guaranteed and can quickly turn sour. Excited yes but nothing is easy and a lot of work and good sides at this level.

Not noticed any arrogance particularly. We are usually known for being negative!

I like to think of myself as a fair Vale fan, I wouldn’t mock any other club apart from Stoke or Crewe but that’s just a bit of rivalry banter. Unfortunately I agree with you, we do have a proportion of fans like that but I guess we all do to some extent. I have total respect for anyone who supports a club in lower league football, you care about your club in ways premier league supporters couldn’t even imagine. I hope we don’t start getting too many people being like that because the last thing we want is every teams fan base returning to grounds thinking of us like they do with Bolton and Salford and really wanting to stick one over us. It can make away games that little bit more difficult

Thought he was well liked at the Orient?

An undoubtedly excellent player who helped transform our first season in the Conference from relegation candidates into mid-table safety. He had a few negative things to say after the season, though, and ultimately chose Ebbsfleet over us that summer (because he wanted to be at a club with genuine promotion aspirations). It’s a mutual dislike. Surprised he hasn’t moved on to League One tbh.
