We've secured Scott Garner from Boston United, 6'2 CB. England C experience, Conference experience, captain experience. Sounds a very promising signing.

Garner is probably one of the better CB's in the Conf North. Very physical and good in the air but a bit on the slow side. Played upfront for Boston a few times when they had an injury crisis if memory serves.

I fear for Boston. They have had the spine of their team ripped out so far this summer! Big rebuilding job needed by Greene and Co

Boston, on paper, had a decent defence last season but given where they finished, their defence wasn't good enough. I think they had the worst in the top 10.

Garner should be a half decent signing. We had him here for a bit on loan from Cambridge and 'did a job'. From memory, he's not really got any pace but will stick his head in where it hurts.

Absolutely agree with your thoughts about our defence - excellent individual players, but conceded far too many goals as a unit.

And you couldn't have described the kind of player Garner is any better whatsoever!!

Garner actually spent the majority of last season as the holding midfield player and, you're remember correctly, he has also played upfront on occasions.

Yes, it seems we've lost our goalie Speiss, defenders Marrs, McEvoy, Mills and Piergianni have gone and now Garner, plus striker Southwell is expected to leave. Another striker Mark Jones seems to be on his way out too - to another of these lower level clubs offering big money.

Defender Nat Brown has signed a permanent deal after spending the last few weeks of last season on-loan from Lincoln City and he looks like, at 34, he'll be the real daddy of the team. Central defender Joe Maguire (24) has been signed from Nuneaton along with a clutch of younger players with various playing backgrounds.

Its certainly a rebuild anyway!!

I'm starting to wonder if Greene has taken Boston as far as he can - two glorious opportunities they've passed up now, all they had to do was shut up shop and concentrate at Ferriby.

Danny Hattersley has signed for Altrincham - no surprise as he tried to get him on loan a couple of times at County last season.

Meanwhile we have surprisingly been linked with Sam Minihan - seems to be very highly rated at Worcester but I didn't expect to see another full back come in.

He was released in favour of a move back home to Rochdale so it's not a surprise you're being linked.

I saw that a few weeks back but like I said we filled the full back slots earlier in the summer - perhaps a more advanced role for him might be in the offing.

Could've sworn I read Hattersley was on the verge of a move to Chester.

He was there on loan last season for a couple of months, started off quite well alongside Hannah but didn't manage to bag a goal.

He never really looked like scoring either, but he did help Hannah out. I don't think we were in for him, our lot have been frustrated this summer with a lack of activity so there's been a bit of scaremongering going on.

Surprising really. When we first got him from Lancaster City, he looked out of his depth in terms of all round play, but knew where the back of the net was.

Attitude will always hold him back.

Went from looking ok on loan to getting an 18 month contract and seeming like he'd never seen a football before in his life.

The worst bit was that he didn't seem to care regardless.

We had him on loan last season and he wasn't much better than Hobson. They're now both spearheading Alty's attack. Hope they do better in CN.

Then get whacked at Fylde.... The year before was the one...

And one of our signings, Shane Clarke, needs an operation on an injury.... 9 months out. We may get rid of him to free up a wage

If Hattersley helps Reeves out like he did Hannah then Alty will do well out of it. Hobson wasn't done any favours by being ridiculously plonked out on the left wing for us last season either. Absolutely cannot have them on the pitch together though.

That's exactly why Young has gone for them, last season Reevesy had piss poor service and Rankine just didn't link up play at all and as a result Reevesy spent half the season on the bench and we relied too much on Rankine,... look how that worked out:err:
We now have 4 strikers and 3 wingers plus attacking fullbacks so Reevesy should get a hatful,... :brill:

Shane's been working with a few of our players in the off-season, being a PT.

Bit of a shitter for both parties on doing his Achilles again. Is he on a contract?

As soon as he lost Tom Elliott as his partner he didn't look half the player, or score half as many goals in fact.

How we are 16/1 with the likes of Salford at 20/1 is beyond me. We can barely field an XI at the moment never mind a squad!

I am seriously concerned at the moment. Can see us struggling.

Same we have no keeper and are lacking in other areas but we're 8/1.

Darlington and Salford the same price as Stalybridge? What have I missed? Telford look very short at 11/1.

I wouldn't back Altrincham at 11/1 either, no idea what we'll be like.
