Lost 2-0 away at Dover, we had Reece Brown on trial at centre back. Game overall was poor, we weren't much better. Mass subs in the second half. Attendance 500.

We won 6-0 at Bishop's Stortford today. Goals were scored by Kennedy, Moses Emmanuel (on trial), Godden, Conlon, Lee and youngster Jamie Gray.

Interesting to see Luton are playing Brighton next Saturday, we're playing them on the same day, would explain the 17:30 kick off I guess.

Beat Ilkeston 4-0

McLeod, Stead, Rodman and Burke with the goals.

Nathan Arnold was playing for Ilkeston, is he not staying at Grimsby?
He turned down a new contract offer and left the club.

However, he was at our game v Hull City last night and I was told that he wanted to come back but Paul Hurst said no, as he'd already signed a replacement. I'd be very surprised if he actually signed for Ilkeston as he's good enough for a top National League team at the least.

Won 9-0 at Bedford.

Thought Bedford were poor even by Southern League standards, but we scored some decent goals, Marriott got a hat trick too and was especially pleased to see it was some of the younger players who were the standouts. Not sure we can draw any conclusions from that though.
Think today was more political than anything else - Bedford cancelled a friendly v MK Dons to play us today; it was seen as trying to encourage fans from the Bedford area to go and watch their games rather than ours.

Still think a Step 4 team shouldn't be losing 9-0, but we're getting to the stage where we should be only sending XIs to these teams, because the players wouldn't have got anything out of this game other than a bit of match sharpness.

We drew 1 - 1 against Torquay United which was largely disappointing.

We didn't create nearly enough chances and it looked a little disjointed. There were some signs of promise but it is clear that the players aren't all on the same wave length yet.

Reece Brown one of the worst players we have ever had on loan.

We lost 2-0 at home to Middlesborough, I don't store much faith in pre season results as a reflection of what's to come given that last season we were very good and ended being relegated. Having said that the issues we had last season don't appear to have been addressed and my doubts over Fergie still remain.

Stags 2-1 Bolton, two full strength teams.

We've got our missing ingredients from last year and are a lot stronger. let's see how they do in three weeks time.

Son of the great Kwame Ampadu?!
He's very highly rated and has been rumoured to be watched by Arsenal.

To get an appearance at the age of 15, albeit a friendly, shows how highly thought of he is

We lost 2-1 to Sutton United yesterday but it was a weakened side that played the majority of the game.

Pre season is meaningless, as is most of August tbh. League doesn't really take shape till Christ,as and even then league two always usually has a team come from no where to make the play offs. All it is, is fitness and a chance to try things out

Very interesting! We are being heavily linked with a return for Nathan Arnold. Our Chairman has put hints on twitter he may appear tonight against Notts County.

Large parts of the south west have ground to a halt this afternoon as fans prepare for the visit of Exeter City to Bodmin Town tonight even though everyone knows that it's really just a warm up ahead of Truro on Thursday.

We lost 1-0 to Boreham Wood. 10 of what I consider our strongest XI started which is a little worrying (albeit the missing one is our best player), although in the second half it was mostly the youngsters. Meh, only pre-season :animatedf:

Highlight(well, lowlight) of the night being some total tosspot who stayed behind after the game and chanted "We want Davis out" to SD whilst he did an interview. Then, when he was asked to leave, he snuck back in and did it again.

Yes, thats right. One of our fans shouted for the manager to go AT A PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY!!! Dear me, what sort of sad act do you have to be to do something like that?

No goals conceded in three frendlies so far.

We barely keep three clean sheets in a season usually.

Sounded like a good runout tonight and slightly surprised we played such a strong squad. Sounds like Robbie Simpson is doing well so far and will be a real focal point of how we play this season.

Truro next

We lost 1-0 to Hull. All I took from the game was the realisation of how shite friendly games are. Roll on the 6th August
