We lost 1-0 to Boreham Wood. 10 of what I consider our strongest XI started which is a little worrying (albeit the missing one is our best player), although in the second half it was mostly the youngsters. Meh, only pre-season :animatedf:
I went to this game - the only pre-season game I'm going to be able to get to.

Think there were a few positives - a few looked sharp, but a couple looked a bit off the pace. Still think we're missing something...

The youngsters looked good. I'm sure Tyreeq Bakinson has forged his birth certificate, because there's no way someone is that good at 17 years old. Just needs to tighten up a few areas and he's got the whole package. I note David Pleat was in attendance again on a scouting job, as were others taking notes.

Boreham Wood scored from their one attempt on target in the game, but they seemed more competitive than this fixture last season. They could do fairly well in the Conference next season.

We drew 1-1 with Boston last night. Still only one striker at the club which is very contending at this stage.

We beat Truro 2-0. Spencer (who's looking very good) and Ijaha with the goals.

How's big Troy looked in pre season? Well I take it, given the 3 clean sheets...
Not been to any games but he played in the first two and by all accounts did well enough. If he plays regularly he will really strengthen our defence as we lacked so much height and power last season.

Didn't play last night so am assuming we're being cautious and easing him back in. Got a game on Thursday so he may play then.

Updated having played Burnley last night:

Tue 12th July - v Bamber Bridge (A).......................................................... WON 3-0
Sat 16th July - mini tournament v Blackburn & Bury (H)........D 0-0.........WON 4-0
Tue 19th July - v Burnley (H).....................................................................DREW 1-1
Sat 23rd July - v Halifax (A)
Tue 26th July - v Preston (H)
Sat 30th July - v Liverpool XI (H)

Good work out at Bamber Bridge with 8 trialists making up the numbers as we played 22 players.

It was as expected much tougher versus both Blackburn and Bury bringing their full squads. That said a good mix of old/new/triallists put on two good dispays that had me feeling much more positive.

I doubt we'll ever see the like of the conditions played in by both Morecambe & Burnley squads last night. Ridiculously hot and humid with absolutely no breeze to make it anywhere near comfortable to watch never mind play. You could see the strength in depth of the Burnley squad who played a fresh 11 each half against Jim Bentleys preferred route of 6 changes around 70 minutes. The Burnley fans must be looking forward to watching this team in the PL especially Boyd, Gray, Marney & Tarkowski who stood out a mile on their 2nd half performances. Obviously not the finished article yet as a spirited Morecambe squad were able to stick with them on the night but their squads power and pace was more than evident.

We played a half paced match against Ryman Premier side Worthing last night. We won 2-1 but I'm not it sure if we should even count it as a match.
We lined up with one who will play next to one who wont. Spent most of the game without a forward on the pitch. Bawling nominally filling the role.
Connolly spent five minutes joking with his mates on the side of the pitch before realising that he really shouldn't.
Yalany Baio had 30 minutes for a trial. See transfer rumours page for details.

I'm watching the Hartlepool v Sunderland match here. http://www.safc.com/live

Currently 0-3 after 25 minutes. The Hartlepool number 4 is having a shocker. Loses possession 9 out of 10 times.

I know Sunderland are premier league but Hartlepool look a shambles at the back.

Donny 2-2 with the barcodes, 2-0 up at HT then put youth on however we lost Wright to injury in the first half then had both Alcock and Middleton stretched off in the second before losing McCormack towards the end. 7 mins injury time in a pre season?

No tackles of note going in ....as requested I reckon .......pre season is just players getting fit ............would I have said that if we'd won ............ no !

Can you update us on the current score then? ;)
A decent second half 0 0 after our main players came on .....It shows how fancied we are when the world's media flocks to a humble friendly of ours ......will they be at Penrith ?

I doubt it, we're not as big a pull as Hartlepool!!

Having said that, the real reason the world's media turned up was to question Hignett's decision to release Rakish Bingham...

In reality though , he's been lost , no one can find him ......he was last seen at the UN sorting out a bit of global warming , as he did most Tuesdays , and that was that , radio silence

So Alcock, Middleton and McCormack all out for the beggining of the season although it sounds much longer than that.

Other than the first half hour you put up a decent show to be fair. But Featherstone and Nsiala looked worryingly (for you's) off the pace, despite the game being played at pre season pace. He's a big brute that Nsiala but there's going to be lot of mistakes in him I suspect.

They were up against a Premier League attack , which as we all know thanks to Murdoch , is the best league in the Universe ...as much as Carlisle are in thier 45th year of sleeping giantness , I don't think you will signing any former England strikers and /or strikers I've never heard of , but must be good cos they are foreign , and after all a foreigner wouldn't drop down to the best league in the Galaxy would they ?

Yeah it was unlucky with the injuries. How the fuck did Matty Blair get MOTM? Good atmosphere for PSF to be fair with the Newcastle fans bringing over 2000.

MOTM's are chosen by the match sponsor and usually they are either family, mates or have a child who chooses their favourite player, has knob all to do with the best player on the pitch.

A team of mostly youngsters and fringe players won 2-1 at Truro last night. Jamie Reid and Liam McAlinden scoring.

Have Burton at home tonight where we'll field our first team.

Bodmin and Elburton play in the same league. We scored 8 more than you. ;-) Can't wait for the new season now!
The difference is, we're expecting to finish somewhere around mid table, whereas you're probably dreaming of your open-top bus parade.
