Are any of your supporters heading out to Portugal for the game? That would be a nice trip out for you guys.

Not sure, details weren't announced till last Wednesday so bit short notice.

Funnily enough a couple of my mates (part time FGR fans) and their missus are out in the Algarve atm so might persuade mine to come out on a cheeky little midweek getaway. Def be better then most of our away days. She might even fancy coming to the game.

I can't stress enough how important warm weather training is when preparing for a season in the UK..
I hear Braintree are starting their pre season training this week to prepare themselves for the new season.
1st session is at the local swimming baths.......

Our pitch has had extensive drainage work done on it close season and is still not ready to stage a match.
Had to cancel our friendly with Southend yesterday and played local club Stanway Rovers at their ground. Won 3-1 but with only 3 players left from last seasons squad its difficult to judge where we are at the moment, although Jamie Day has made some experienced signings.

The players are getting special treatment too early Chris, they've not done anything yet. You need to toughen them up, throw some mud in their faces and NOT in the form of a facial mask..

Ripping up the non-league pyramid by winning 3-1 at Thurrock on Wednesday night and then 4-0 against Romford yesterday afternoon (Ollie Hawkins scoring 3 in total).

It means we've now won 2 games at Ship Lane in 4 days compared to 3 at Victoria Road in just over 14 months :D

Braintree postpone another home pre-season friendly. Or more accurately, Gillingham don't sound as though they want to play on it.

Seems fair enough on our part if that is the case though. We're playing Concord Rangers on tuesday now instead.

We looked really good at Stalybridge Celtic, who were wretched. I still can't see us tearing up the league but we might at least be worth watching some of the time.

We suffered a narrow 1-0 home defeat to an Grimsby XI on Saturday as alluded to in the tinpot thread.
James Cardman? Was named as sub. Anyone recognize the name or know anything about him?

An Grimsby? Is the 'Gr' silent!? WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME BEFORE? I must have looked a right pillock on more than one occasion. Sigh.

Didn't see it mentioned above but we were beaten 1-0 by Rochdale on Saturday.

Calvin Andrew penalty settled the tie.

We beat Bury 1-0 in a game held behind closed doors. Trialist Jordan Evans scored.

Sounded a thrilling encounter. Our detailed match report from the website:

Reds win on a hot afternoon...
Wrexham record another preseason victory behind closed doors at Bury's Carrington Training Facility.

"Trialist A" scored with a glancing header - and that decided it.

It was a closely contested match on a very hot afternoon.

We're 1-0 up against Bolton, but most of the attention is on Norwood who is sat in the stands. Rumours have been rife that he's off to Oldham. He's officially 'got a knock'.

Could it be a typo and it's former Harrogate and Stalybridge midfielder James Cadman.

5-0 rout over Waltham Abbey this evening.

Hand us the league now and save the embarrassment of the ensuing season ;)

Looking at our official twitter pics from the training camp/hotel it looks like a quality venue. At least they do have palm trees in Torquay, so that part might be relevant. No need to toughen them up, we'll pass our way to the title.

Alfreton 0-0 Notts County

A non event of game realy which was not surprising as it was played in stifling heat. Notts had the majority of the few chances in the game and missed a penalty in the last minute after Spiess had brought Izale McLeod down in the box. Mc Leod stepped up and smacked it against the bar though!

We could had won it on 73 but Ryan Wilson crashed his effort against the bar.

And yes Nathan Arnold was named and played the majority of the game.

Lost to Leyton Orient's first team 2-0. It was freezing cold.
