That might have been a factor yeah. One huge positive to take out of the game was that Kai Edwards managed to not get his leg broken. Gresford were definitely going for it.

I don't think we were too bothered about that game, just a way to help out another local club. Tuesday's game vs Bury's first team in the sweltering heat would have been more likely us going for it 100%.

The one we've all been waiting for... Northwich Vics vs Tranmere.

Tranmere team... Turner, Gumbs, Sutton, Trialist, Ridehalgh, S Jennings, Hughes, Duggan, Norwood, Stephenson, Omotola. Interesting selection.

Going to the home match vs Carlisle today - haven't seen any of our new signings yet, but this one's always a good test. I think we'll confirm one or two triallists as signings after the game: Coughlin looks like he'll be our reserve keeper next season, and Belezika has been with us for a few weeks. We're still a winger, a defender and maybe a forward short.
Coughlin and Aaron O'Conner on the bench today..
1 up at HT Hannah penalty after Bryon Harrison was brought down.
More or less full strength Carlisle side, and Barrow trying the land of the giants formation.... 1 at 6'5" and 4 at 6'3" with more on the bench

Aye, that about sums it up. Connolly looks a real find. We need another striker though.

Alfreton 1-1 Mansfield

Absolutely howler from Fabian Spiess for their goal who so far has done but give stupid penalties away and allow a tame cross to loop over him in to the net today,

Our goal was from Gibraltar International Adam Priestley. Formerly of Guiseley and Shaw Lane AquaForce. Not much else happened.

Was surprised to see Aaron O'Connor appear - surely he wouldn't want to come in and effectively be back-up to Ross Hannah?
Carlisle were awful, pretty slow-paced game and our back four didn't have a lot to do. Like the look of Liam Hughes - hard to say if any of the others will be good signings just yet.

Lost 2-0 at Lincoln United.

Poor from us really, albeit with a handful of senior players missing and youths on the bench. Build up play far too slow (not aided by the grass being incredibly long), crosses either going out for goal kicks or hitting the first man and no-one in and around Rhead.

Started with a 4-4-1-1 with Tayor Miles, a CM, on the left wing and James Caton, a left winger, behind Rhead and it didn't work in the slightest. More of a 4-2-3-1 in the second half but lots of the ball and little end product. I think Lincoln United only had 2 shots and scored twice, but their first wasn't too different from Vardy's against Liverpool last season.

Very hot as well.

Spiess is fucking awful mate. How he got a contract even in in conference north is beyond me

Our friendly on Tuesday against Hereford has now been confirmed as being the inaugural Steve Millington Memorial Trophy, which may become an annual thing until we're in the same division again. Steve was a former Chairman of our Supporters Trust, who apparently attended Hereford's Trust meetings and offered advice and support during the Agombar debacle, as well as helping to organise Hereford's fan protest at a Harriers match that was on BT Sport a few years ago. Really pleasing to see how while maintaining a rivalry, the two clubs have managed to rally together to help support each other when each club has needed it.

We sent a team of trialists and youth players to Marine, ‘we’ won 5-3 in the end.

Trialist James Akintunde scored a first half hat trick and seemingly impressed, as we’re short of strikers it wouldn’t surprise me if he joins up after that. The other notable trialist was James Bailie from Crewe, not sure we really need another right back though.

The first team have been given a few days off before getting back at it next week.

We won 3-0 at Nantwich, although it took a while for us to really get going. Kingsley James scored the first goal half way through the 2nd half and the others were scored by a trialist called Emmett O'Connor, formerly of Crawley.

Yes. Sure they have been mentioned before in the tinpot thread several times unsurprisingly. They play at Northern Premier League Divison One South

Did they not have to change their name? I read that you can only have a sponsor in your name up to a certain tier, and they got promoted to that level?

We played out a very entertaining 2-2 draw with MK Dongers first team today in scorching heat. Also had a perfectly good Scott Rendell goal ruled out for offside when he was about 3 yards on. Only issue was an apparently badly sprained ankle for Charlie Walker just after he'd scored a 30 yard screamer.

Bloody awful wasn't it? Not much for the majority of 815 crowd to get excited about was there?
We got there and they seemed to put more into the prematch session than they did the game.
Some interesting post match comments from the manager on ins and outs, mind something needs doing as as its stands the same players are currently making the same mistakes they made last season.

Yeah, not great.

That said, if this last week has been the toughest/most intense of pre-season so far and it now winds down ready for the season start then it's no wonder they looked leggy.

They did look very leggy, thought Caton was going to throw up at one point during the second half!

Following a disappointing 1-1 draw at Kingstonian on Wednesday we beat a Crystal Palace XI 1-0 thanks to a Bedsente Gomis goal

Now i remember why i rarely bother with pre season......what a dreadful game!! Made even worse that our stewards were treating it like a league game.

Weren't allowed to have a beer why watching the game
Weren't allowed to keep the lid for my bottle of water because of ''rules''
Demanding to search my 8 year old nephews backpack...cos apparently FA rules state they have to check everyone with a bag

Yes im sure an 8 year old is gonna have something really dangerous in his spider man backpack....give me strength :ffs:
