Sorry mate, skipped over your post.
Do you mean Darlo's Blackwell Meadows? Fully compliant with the criteria for promotion now after the fans raised another shed load of cash last season to extend the seated stand. Now holds 588 with total ground capacity of about 3,300.

http://www.footballgroundguide.com/...rence-north/darlington-blackwell-meadows.html
Thanks for your reply.

What are your long-term plans for a ground?

Rebuilding job in that area, long servant Craig Mahon was out injured for large parts of last season and the other wide players weren’t good enough. Bizarrely Southport are rumoured to be interested in one of those in Liam Davies, he was actually sent back from his loan spell at Leek Town he was that poor. Ended up with central midfielders out wide for the most part.

Anyway Mahon is back fit now and we’ve signed Matty Hughes for the other side which is actually the same wide two that faced you in the cup a few years ago. There’s also a young academy graduate in Nathan Brown who has come through and looked quite useful. Only a very small lad but very tricky and extremely difficult to deal with, ended up running the length of the pitch past several defenders to score our goal of the season in April against Bromley.

Craig Mahon was foolishly given a 2-year contract by McCarthy last season otherwise he wouldn't be here.

AFC Telford have signed James McQuilkin after his release by Kidderminster. Decent acquisition.

Wasn't released we did offer him terms. Honestly in his first 2 seasons he was brilliant but last season he didn't seem to perform to the same level. Not too disappointed he's gone as he'd have been a backup here anyway I'd have imagined.

Well we have taken a gamble on Northern Counties East League striker Declan Bacon who scored 45 goals last season for Bottesford Town.

Interesting signing. Bit of a gamble but we have had success down this route before with Liam Hearn from Quorn and Paul Clayton from Parkgate FC and Aden Flint of course from Pinxton.

Very hard to find any info on him but hopefuly he is capable of the step up unlike Brody Robertson who we signing from Cleethorpes Town last season after he scored 30 goals in 43 games at the sam level. He last a few months scored a couple of crucial goals v Tamworth and then went back to Cleethorpes in January.

Perhaps he might bring home the bacon....sorry I will get my coat.

These are always tough to call. Anyone with that sort of goal scoring record, in theory, should be capable at doing it at any level with the right coaching (Jamie Vardy, Charlie Austin etc) We gambled on Kristian Dennis a few seasons back who had a good goal to game ratio for us. Now plays for Notts County.

What is he like?
Was a disaster last season quite frankly, had the worst first touch you could imagine, couldn’t trap a bag of cement

That said I do think he’s a better player than he showed whilst here. He was on and off injured in the first few months and then never really got going in a struggling team who rarely created any chances. Jon McCarthy signed him pretty much because he scored four times against us in the two years previous for three different clubs.

Biggish lad who has some strength and will certainly run around a lot. We were warned he was injury prone though when he joined and so it proved. Not that it means much but he did come across as quite a nice lad mind you.

Hereford seem to be making a former Gloucester eleven Harry White was with us before going into the FL with Barnsley. He works hard and never gives up but he is very clumsy. Should score way more than he does

Darlington have sold winger Josh Gillies to South Shields for an undisclosed fee.

Reasonably happy with that one, as although Gillies is a class act on his day, far too many matches pass him by. A luxury that we cannot afford to carry both on the pitch and financially.

We have signed winger Alex Henshall to replace Gillies.

Henshall spent a couple of years at Man City then a couple of years at Ipswich, and was loaned out to various clubs from his parent clubs, before eventually signing for Nuneaton last season. He picked up an injury which was misdiagnosed and was sidelined for a while and then was in dispute with Nuneaton over it. He left them but Nuneaton held on to his registration and he couldn't sign for anyone else until now

Here is out incomings and outgoings so far...

IN

Liam Hughes MF (Billericay)
Simon Ainge DF/ST (Harrogate)
Jordan Nicholson MF/ST (Barnet)
Alex Henshall MF (Nuneaton)

OUT

Aynsley Pears GK (Middlesbrough - returned from loan)
Chris Hunter DF (South Shields)
Liam Marrs DF
Gary Brown DF (South Shields)
Kevin Burgess DF (Scarborough)
Phil Turnbull MF (South Shields)
Tom Portas MF (West Auckland)
Leon Scott MF (Scarborough)
Josh Gillies MF/ST (South Shields)
Greg Mills MF/ST (Stourbridge)
Lee Hume MF
Dale Milburn ST

Our expensive, bloated squad has been trimmed down nicely - sad to see many of those go, Brown and Scott were 6 year stalwarts, Hunter had been there 5 years, Portas 4 years, and many of those who had left had reached their limit of their playing ability.

We're running on a lower budget this season, and that budget in itself was boosted by 86k from Darlo fans. This means a smaller squad but not necessarily a worse one.

Looking forward to break even and dare I even suggest profit this season, and I think we've got a nice mixture of youth and experience in the squad as it stands.

Our squad so far, for anyone that is interested or has a knowledge of players at this level -

GK - No one yet.

DF Luke Trotman
DF Ben O'Hanlon
DF Josh Heaton
DF Terry Galbraith
DF Dominic Collins
DF Jack Vaulks

MF Stephen Thompson
MF Mitchell Glover
MF Joe Wheatley
MF Dave Syers
MF Liam Hughes
MF Alex Henshall
MF/ST Jordan Nicholson
MF/ST James Caton (transfer listed)

ST Harvey Saunders
ST Reece Styche
DF/ST Simon Ainge

How I think we will line up at the start of the season, subject to signings...

GK

Trotman Heaton Galbraith O'Hanlon

Thompson Hughes Wheatley Nicholson

Styche Ainge

To be honest I'm glad Gillies has done one, he was one of our laziest player's last season.
I'm glad TW has seen through him, sick to death of shouting at him through lack of interest he showed most games. As for a class act on his day, they were few and far between.

According to some Nuneaton fans, Henshall was never really fit for them due to turning out through an injury which made it worse. Hopefully now with him being fit he should do well he had the talent there. Apparently he's very quick.

And now they really hope Darlo flop!

Blyth Spartans are excited to announce the addition of forward Jamie Holmes - joining from NPL side South Shields. Holmes, 20, is a product of the Newcastle United Academy.

I just hope Henshall is not another Greg Mills. He had been injured and never recovered fitness during his stay at Darlo.

If you look at our signings on one hand they look to have pedigree but on the other hand could be a gamble. Suppose when you haven't got a massive budget, if you want quality you can't just go out and sign the cream of the crop, you have to look at players who had quality but have had problems and need to get back on track.

Liam Hughes - Played in the National and L2 for Cambridge and still only 25 so should have loads of quality. However, he has had personal problems. Could be a gamble.

Simon Ainge - Goalscoring record after converting to a striker at Harrogate was sensational. However after scoring 13 goals in first 15 matches of last season he got a serious groin injury and has been battling back to fitness. Could be a gamble.

Jordan Nicholson - Certainly has pedigree and scores goals at this level. No known problems.

Alex Henshall -Time will tell how much quality he has, and he should have plenty after being on the books of Man City and Ipswich, but the concern here is that he hardly played last season after getting an injury and then being in dispute with Nuneaton. Could be a gamble.

And another one out of the door!

Josh Heaton on the verge of signing for St. Mirren for 75k according to The Scottish Sun. If it comes off, then that's good business as we've only had him on our books for 6 months.

Hope we've got a sell on because this lad will go all the way.

Leamington have signed James Bowen from Hereford FC who had a short spell at Solihull Moors last season.

Alfreton have signed defender James Clifton from Boston. Ex Brackley and Nuneaton.

Seems to have a decent track record at this level

Liam Truslove has signed up for next season. He'll only be a backup as I can't see him getting in ahead of Bradley and Williams.

Such a crying shame on this one departing through our revolving door of player's!

But we knew this was gunna eventually happen sometime during the summer. I was hoping and praying we'd hang onto him for another season, Josh Heaton what a bargain he's worth every penny and a lot more than that 75k? I've seen this lad play home and away for 6 months, he's an absolute monster organizing our back line for a lad of his age, what a delight to watch. Brilliant!

Absofuckinlutely we need some sort of sell on clause in his contract? St Mirren will make a fortune of this lad.

I remember Greg Mill's first match i thought we got ourselves a real bargain he played really well, and then the shit hit the fan, he just couldn't produce the goods his form took a turn for the worse and seem to struggle with his weight. True Henshaw could be another injury prone player?

I like the look of our signings i think they'll fit in nicely with the club, this stage of the season i think they are all a bit of a gamble which i think TW will probably know that in the back of his mind.

I think the most interesting signing out of the bunch for me is Alex Henshall? On paper his pedigree looks far too good for the NLN. He looks to have an abundance of talent, one slight concern is fitness? And will he still have the desire and determination for the game.

All in all we've lost a diamond, but hopefully we've found a hidden gem!

Matt Jansen has stepped down as our manager with immediate effect.
I would assume he has been offered a job higher up the pyramid.
I'm sad but excited, yes, he has guided us to two playoffs, but the football was so boring. Hopefully whoever takes over (I suspect it will be vermiglio) will bring some exciting football with him.

Jamie Vermiglio is current Assistant Mgr, long term former player and club legend. Personally would prefer someone from outside but it's always a matter of opinion. Hopefully we play more attacking football.

BREAKING: AFC Fylde break club-record transfer fee to sign Kidderminster Harriers and England C captain Ryan Croasdale.

Big blow to Kiddy. Fylde are turning in to a bit of a thorn in their side. Fee must be around 75K?

£50,000. We could be making a lot from transfer fees this summer. Sonupe gone, Horsfall could be going for £200,000 and now this. Really frustrating though. I get he wants to step up but Fylde...really?
