Just lost 1 of our best players in Phil Turnbull who has dropped a division to join his hometown team South Shields.

Top player, but it's a shame he's following the money so quickly. Expected to have him for another season before he joined them.

Good luck Twinny.

Our first signing is Jordan Keane who was captain and seemed to have a very good season at Boston picking up all the awards al - he also scores a few headed goals from set pieces which is something we haven’t had forever.

Our official website is describing him as a defensive midfielder who can also play centre back though I’ve seen him described as a defender elsewhere.

Any views from the Boston Fans/Darksithlord would be gratefully received.

Another signing in its way on Friday as well.

You wont be surprised to here that Jordan Keane was another player that was pretty awful for us didnt pull up any trees and then signed for Boston to seems to have been decent.

Cieron Keane`s return to EP is going to be interesting to the say the least now!!

Frank Mulhern - Was ok for us. Certainly has something. I liked him. Just a bit raw and missed a few chances ironically at EP. Scored a number of crucial goals for us in the colours of Bradford PA in fact. Neither player good enough to get promoted out of this league though

I think Frank went on a downward spiral after being released by Leeds. He was touted by them as their next young star not long before. Hopefully he gets his head straight and pushes on to show consistently good performances.

It will indeed be rather awkward - if he could go a game without trying to break someone’s leg that might help haha.

Where did Keane play for you?

I’m not sure either will be guaranteed a spot in the starting line-up on the opening day.

We added an extra day’s training at the turn of the year and it really benefitted the younger players in our squad, with one of them getting a move to league football off the back of it.

It’s noticeable that our first three signings of the summer are all 24 and under. While Gannon has his faults no one can deny he can spot raw talent and develop it.

Seems a very risky appointment to me
So was Eustace and on balance, we did well under him. MacFarlane has experience as an assistant at a few clubs and had a brief stint here helping Gordon out at the end of the season when we were relegated so the club know what he's about. Appointing anyone who's new to the management side of the game is a risk, but that seems to be the way we're going to be run going forwards. Just need to wait and see I suppose.

We have signed former Boston and North Ferriby keeper Ross Durrant on a 1 year deal

When we hammered Ferriby 6-0 at BM in snowy atrocious conditions back in March. If it wasn't for a fine display of goalkeeping from Ross Durrant during the second-half. He denied us a scoreline of at least 10-0. Durrant was also excellent down at Ferriby in the 1-1 draw against us.

I had a sneaky feeling we'd lose him at some stage of his career to his home town club South Shields. I thought he definitely had one more season left in the locker with us.

I'd have to say he was a delight to watch, I don't begrudge him in a sense looking after his wallet. Seems to be the norm these days with footy player's?

I hope TW knows what he's doing letting a player of this calibre leave the club.

Well that's South Shields heading for the NLN!

They were always coming up anyways mate. I think we've got a half decent 8k fee for him. He's 31 and at his age for a CN player, I'd take that. His best years are past him imo.

Although still gutted to lose the lad.

You going PSV in July?

Yeah deffo they are on their way up mate. Interesting what odds they'll be over the next few months i might have a punt on them?

Probably had his toughest season to date, certainly was off his game over the last few matches of the season. Other than that he was a great servant for the club in many ways, first name i looked for on the team sheet for me. Totally agree on his age, and his best years are probably behind him.

At this stage i doubt it? Recently got a season ticket, and i don't want to miss any away games this season mate. I think i need to invest in a money tree!

Our third signing is winger Craig King from Gainsbrough. 4 goals last season for Gainsbrough. Can play in a variety of positions.

As everyone had expected, Heath seems to be signing his usual crew, has worked for him before but these guys are 3-4 years older now.

Anything your side prodigal regarding Jansen heading off as Carlisle manager?

He’s supposedly been interviewed twice and a strong fave for job of Living manager turns them down

I know a lot of Carlisle fans want him in. I for one wouldnt be that unhappy to see him go. We would get a large payout as he signed a long term contract at the start of this season. Yes, he's got us to two playoffs, but we play such negative football and it's down to the players more than him. He regularly plays people out of position and regularly plauds our worst players cough Marcus carver cough.

It's a difficulty one that, as CFC4LIFE says there is an element that don't like the type of football we play under Jansen but he is undoubtably useful on the Corporate/Sponsorship side, personally I don't see him going, but it's all about opinion as I like Carver and would always have him in my side.

We’ve agreed a deal with an experienced centre back.

Set to be completed when Gannon comes back from holiday.

All of last seasons players who have not been released have now signed up for next season, good news just hoping now for 2 or 3 good additions.

Alty have now signed one of the best centre backs we faced last year Liam Goulding from Warrington,.. and we still have the same good defence from last year, his dad used to play for alty in years gone by. Striker Anthony Dwyer also signed, ex Telford etc.
The manager certainly isnt sitting on his laurels:bow:

How do you find Phil Parkinson? I did the social media for Nantwich Town last season, so saw a lot of him. Interested to know your perceptions of him.

Brilliant guy, very positive outlook, superb manager, his assistant NS as well,.. cant speak highly enough of them. Be interesting to see if he can maintain the success at the next level as the gluepot league was generally quite poor.

Yeah, was thinking that myself. Had he had the 16-17 teams, then things would have been very different. Stourbridge, Spennymoor and Blyth would have caused Alty some trouble.

I largely agree about Parky and Sorvs though, a real air of Clough and Taylor about them, work so well together. I do find he can come across as a touch paranoid at times. He'll often reference people doubting him and his team, which largely exists in his head.

As you say though, his true test comes next season with you lot in the Conference North, which is looking uber competitive with Blyth, Spennymoor, Stockport, Kiddy, York etc. Huge step up from the Evo-Stik League.
