Highlights of the game now up

Very good highlights package.
The first penalty was not a penalty.
James Clifton should not have been sent off.
Nathan Hotte was lucky not to be sent off.
the Josh Wilde incident in the second half on Mooney was NOT a Red. We looked to have a defender round on the cover.
The penalty deep in added time was a penalty. Why Gowling is diving in there I will never know. Think he needs to be dropped.

So why does Howson get sent off for being pulled over by Hobson? I said it during the game and that makes even clearer. How the linesman gives that is totally beyond me. I thought our first penalty was soft at the time and expected the first red to be a yellow. All in all I agree with you, but also with the look of utter bemusement on Howson's face.

Yeah the Howson sending off was a strange one. It was a tangle initiated by Hobson but what against Howson was the fact he was the last man and what had gone on before and the ref trying to even it up in a way.

Jesus, the state of that last sending off. I can only think the ref sent him packing for the ignominy of being outpaced by Craig "lead boots" Hobson.

Clifton's sending off looked fair enough to me, he is a filthy player

Leamington come back from 2 down (and 10 men) to draw with Darlington. Darlo should've been out of sight first half and will be kicking themselves for not winning this one. Was a very good game to watch. Great point for Leamington given their form at the moment and losing their star striker earlier in the week. Could perhaps have even won! Darlo fans are a good bunch though, credit to their club.

Painful to watch again like, but all the same an entertaining game for both sets of fans. Thanks Nick and good luck for the rest of the season. Once again I enjoyed my visit to Leamington

Moving Swifty on from Saturday straight back on the road again tonight to FC United ofManchester who predictably seemed to have picked up under their new manager.
Nothing other than 3 points will do but I am going with no expectations. We could be staring 6 straight league defeats in a row which just isnt goo enough with the squad at our disposal. Think Billy needs to rotate a few with the physical game on Saturday.

Nice to visit Leamington (baring the result) your fans were a friendly bunch both in the old library pub in Leamington and in the clubhouse before the game.

Don't really know how we threw it away on the day. Best half of football we've played all season in the first half. We looked very good. Scored two decent goals. Think your 9 was rightly red carded. Went in shin high on Ainge. Bit daft because he looked a tricky lad to play against.

Had we scored one of our other chances in the first half or early in the second maybe Holleran would have shut up shop and gone for damage limitation but we just didn't match your determination second half. Stupid penalty to give away and then your lad wanted it more to force it over the line from the corner.

I still think we should have had a penalty at the end as the CB pulls back Ainge as he turns him to shoot but by that point you more than deserved your draw it would have been harsh on you.

Neutrals would have been entertained. I'd imagine we'll both be seeing each other again next season. Look forward to our next visit.

Great point for Leamington given the circumstances and have not been in good form recently either. Darlington looked a good side but for whatever reason, seemed to just completely lose the plot! I have no arguments with the red card really. He was battling with a couple of players before he lunged in but diving in with two feet, right in front of the referee..you are asking for it!

The penalty...no idea what your lad was thinking!

Hopefully we'll meet again next season!

Good to know you enjoyed the visit...the weather was a bit of a stinker though! Great game. It was last season too (at our place anyway!)

All the best

Well after throwing away a lead against 10 man Nuneaton we welcome top of the shop Chorley to Edgeley Park tonight.

I don't recall us even scoring a goal against Chorley at EP so tonight should be a right laugh.

I 've seen 2 separate videos of this game and both penalties were correctly given. I'm just glad we prevailed in the end. Two points: we're not Stockport and Gary Roberts is not Gareth Roberts (he's retired now, but had a very good season with us about 5 years ago).

I have a rather bad feeling ahead of the visit of lowly Nuneaton, and won't be surprised f they turn us over a la FC United.

The fact they held County (with 10 men) is a worry, given how we didn't get near them in the FA cup

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Find it very weird reading the Southport forum many predict a good win for them tonight.

Unsure if that is more desperate hope than anything else or maybe I am missing the fact Curzon are currently the best away team (apart from leaders Chorley) and missing face Southport are bottom in horrific form.

Am looking at game as must win for Curzon due to form which highlights just how badly f*cked up Southport are currently

I'm not sure anyone will ever really understand what happened at Edgeley Park tonight. And least of all me as for the first time this season I couldn't go.

It was a very slow start, but simple in the end. Nuneaton's keeper had a mare a minute into the second half, when he let one through his fingers, and they were gone after that.

Wow, 3 points off the play offs, and not even playing that well IMO.

Bit of a stroll for us tonight. Got ahead early and just picked Ashton off quite easily.

They were quite neat and tidy in possession as it goes but I've never seen a side dispossessed as easily as them in the final third.

Table looks nice with those games in hand.

We were pretty abject. If it wasnt for Sam Ramsbottom FC would have been out of sight.

Robbed FC of a point thanks to Jimmy Clifton's finish on 88.

Just doesnt seem to be happening for us. 6 without a win now. Need a win and quickly.

We've been poor in the league since the Chester draw. Drawn 2 lost 2 and teams starting to figure us out. What helped at the start was the rotation with players not being guaranteed starts, and the games coming thick and fast when we were in such good form. I feel the cup may have slightly distracted us. However, both against Bradford and Stockport, we have had 2 goals chalked off that would have put us 1-0 up. Wilson wasn't offside for tonight's disallowed goal. That doesn't make up for the poor performances of late to our high standards. What baffled me tonight was taking Scott leather off. He was bossing it at the back, should've took meppen Walter or teague off.

After Saturdays game, it was more a case of what would convince me to go.

Delighted with tonight's result, but at the end of the day if we continue fannying about against the likes of Nuneaton it won't mean an awful lot.

Emphatic win against Leamington. 4 very good goals for us and not one of them from Ed Williams :ohm:.

Leamington never really got into the game they had their chances but they were all from distance really. Closest they came was when hit our own bar.

Was great to see Bradley and Chambers back amongst the goals as they were both on a goal drought. 1 point in it now between us and Chorley. If we'd not been shocked by FCUM or been clinical against Guiseley we'd be a few points clear. Can't mess up against bottom of the league again though when we play Southport this weekend.

Superb performance and result against Chorley last night. County looked up for it from the start. Both teams played a quick paced game which made for an entertaining match.

Thought Chorley were very limited in their approach. Pass the ball to either Teague or Meppen-Walter and a big boot forwards looking to pick up the 2nd ball. Credit to Sam Walker, Jordan Keane and Elliot Osbourne for competing really well in the middle and getting hold of plenty of the 2nd balls. Think we stretched them with balls into the channels behind their wing backs. Adam Thomas was able to get at them all game long.

Special shout out to Matty Warburton for coming off the bench to bag a 17 minute hat-trick. Real game winning performance.

I echo the confusion of the Chorley fan for taking Scott Leather off. Said it myself at the time. He was playing superbly and is easily the best CB in this division. Can only assume it was because they used Teague and Meppen-Walter for their big boot forwards?!

Overall very pleasing result after the abject performance against Nuneaton. But anyway, that's 8 unbeaten in all comps and we travel to Curzon with a spring in our step.

We were absolutely unbelievable in the first 20 mins last night vs BPA and that 1st goal from Jordan Nicholson, absolute worldie. Played some quality football and always looked dangerous on the attack, just once again our defensive frailties come back to haunt us.

Wasn't as action packed in the second half, but at times - We still looked shaky at the back. I still think if we had more options of the bench to kill that game off, we'd have won. Doesn't help when we've only got a couple of kids there. Hopefully we can get some loanees from Newcastle/Boro or Sunderland in the coming weeks.

Thought our loan keeper played well on his debut, despite only meeting his teammates on the coach down there. I didn't see the BPA equaliser as I was in the bar, so missed the penalty which we had saved back on HT.

Thought we took some good numbers down there aswell, although it wasn't segregated - I would have said at least 250 made the trip last night and made a bit of noise aswell.

Never mind, onwards to Saturday against Guiseley.

We were second best last night, Stockport won all the second balls and harried well and dominated in midfield. Like others baffled by the substitution of Scott Leather, he is a class CB. Too many of our players were not at it again last night, Alex Newby seems to be struggling since his injury but tonight I thought Elliot Newby had his poorest game for us, hence why Stockport bossed midfield. Oh well onward to another really tough game home to Spennymoor on Saturday, definitely need a reaction in this one.

An abject performance from us last night, we looked knackered after the efforts on Saturday against Kidderminster. Blyth fully deserving of their win with three of our back four having stinkers!
Saturday away to Darlo will show just how much character our boys have, I fully expect a far better performance.

Apparently Nuneaton at a very advanced stage with a new investor/owner at the 11th hour. The proposal is going in front of the league today. More dtail here (10 minutes in)
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p06nc2zy

I hope they do survive, if only so we don't forfeit last night's 3 points if they go bust.

I'm still getting over the fact that we've won 5 games on the bounce at home, with goals galore. I think the Chester game in a couple of weeks will be a test of whether we are actually improving, or have just dropped lucky against some of the poorer sides (I know Bradford are riding high, but they really didn't look very good).

Interesting division at the minute

Can only echo what's already been said about County v Chorley, if you were a neutral at EP last night and someone told you one of these sides is top of the table, they'd have said it was us. Which is a complete contrast to Saturday's game v Nuneaton.

Last weekend the team looked like absolute rabbits caught in headlights, no movement, no adventure in our play, no cohesion (with the exception of 20 minutes in the 2nd half, after Bell came on and gave us movement & tempo). Then on Tuesday night we're the exact opposite, constantly moving the ball about, incisive, calm & composed all over the shop. If we can put three of those performances in a row then I'll feel we've turned a corner, until then County are just a rather schizophrenic team.

Special shout out to Osbourne, Walker and (most surprisingly) Keane in the middle of the park for being solid, reliable and domineering. Bell, too, led the front line brilliantly and ran Teague ragged. If it weren't for Warburton's goals then those four should've shared MOTM.

No I was away this last week. My dad went and said Kiddy are the best team we've played so far this season. He was pleased with a point and a clean sheet although a bit disappointed that we lacked much attacking threat. I would have taken a draw before kick off so happy days.

Yes ~~~ both teams applauded of in the end. A game played in the right spirit. Good luck Ashton United for the rest of the season.
