Challinor has done a great job at Hartlepool. Not an easy job getting back to the FL.

IMO, this Ray Singh and the supporters of Hartlepool should do the decent thing and let him go. Free him and let him fulfill his dreams. He's paid you back long before.

It doesn't feel the right thing to do now, but trust me it will in a year or two when the big picture emerges.

And that is why I ask the forum in my quest

My quest to #freechallinor

Lets get it trending.

Remember that guy who was tied to a radiator in Iraq? Like that, this. Challinor stuck up at Hartlepool. Do the right thing. The honourable thing.

You know, just when you think you’ve seen everything on this forum, Dave Challinor gets compared to Terry Waite.

Simply fantastic.

Terry did a great job in Iraq. Challinor has done a great job at Hartlepool.

It was a logical comment to make and I won't apologise.

I do think that Stockports approaches for Appleton will be realised and he is coming to tear up the national league

I'd much rather them get Appleton there. Challinor has managed to get a club out of this league, Appleton has never managed down here.

Folk on our forum are saying we approached Appleton a few weeks ago (the time we beat Wrexham) but he turned us down

Stocky Team Six has infiltrated Durham Uni and extracted the asset, over the M62 now.

Players have apparently been told and waiting for an official shout, gutted really.

Yep. Occupational hazard of having a good manager... they get noticed. At least he achieved what we desperately needed. Getting out of that league is fucken tough, and I can only be appreciative of the job he did in getting us promoted. Stockport have got themselves a good one, and they have better foundations in place than we did, so DC's job is theoretically easier, but it still a big task to get back to the EFL.

Also gutted to hear that that nice Mr Waite ended up imprisoned in Iraq as well as Lebanon. The bloke had no luck :-(

Challinor freed from the Radiator. It's been freezing today to be fair, it wasn't the worst day for it.

Quick go and look at Jeff Stelling's tweet from the other day before he finds out where the delete key is.

Stockport flexing their muscles. They'll still win this league.

Missed a bigger trick by burning bridges with Gannon. The amount that's been spent trying to get back to the same position he left us in, it doesn't bear thinking about

That can’t be true, Who Needs Mourinho said Appleton wanted to come to Stockport.

Even though it’s a two division drop, I am surprised that Appy hasn’t already crawled on his hands and knees to take over at Edgley :fl:

"Dave Challinor has this afternoon informed the Hartlepool United Board that he wants to leave and join Stockport County FC.

This follows an approach by Stockport to the manager through his agent during the course of last week, which Hartlepool United were informed of on Friday.

As a club we were disappointed the first approach did not come direct to the club. Also that this was so soon after Dave signed a new three year contract.

We believed we were building something special with Dave and this squad - matched by the magnificent support the team has received, home and away.

Therefore, we declined a request from Stockport for permission to speak with Dave on Sunday.

However, after speaking to him again on Monday, he has verbally notified us of his intention to leave.

Ultimately, it is crucial that the manager of our club is 100% committed to the job. Dave had made it clear he wants to leave.

Coach Anthony Sweeney will take charge of the team for Tuesday’s fixture with Everton and for the immediate future as interim manager while the Board consider its position in relation to this matter. "

Challinor will have held a lot of cards in that new contract the other week, wouldn't surprise me if he accepted it on the condition that he could leave if he verbally expressed a desire to leave. Probably will be a fee but not sure it will be as big as Hartlepool fans would like. That statement reads like they've been caught out to be honest. Almost like it's as good as a resignation and there's not a lot Hartlepool can do with haggling etc.

Said it was up to Challinor to force their hand if he really wanted to join us, looks like he has.

It is what it is, personal feelings aside you've got yourself a great manager, who'll have you playing proper football, he'll have MSH and Kitching doing the business.

Yeah happy with the appointment but understand how most of you must be feeling, even if your official forum is quite a fun read with the vitriol.

How do you guys feel about Raj? Presume he was quietly annoyed that he lost the likes of Armstrong/Oates, and didn't he claim he got lowballed with his contract negotiations which probably contributed to him thinking it's worth dropping down the level to come back up. I kind of admire the chutzpah of that to be honest.

Either way, you're in the football league and so long as you get the next appointment right and the money tap isn't turned off completely you should be okay to stabilise in league 2, which is more than what can be said for us whilst we flop around trying to dope our way into the league.

Yeah Hartlepool lads shouldn't be too downbeat, I reckon Challinor's put in place the fundamentals to keep you FL for a fair few years at least. With only two going down and some real basket cases down there, you'll be alright whoever you appoint.

Getting out of here is much more of a fine margin, he's a penalty miss away from still being here with you guys and that was with him doing a really good job.

We stand a much better chance with Challinor though than that no hoper Rusk.

He'll be on more money, with loads to spend at a bigger club who he has history with and who already have a better squad than the one he is leaving in a higher division.

Absolute no-brainer if ever there was one.

The Poolie Bunker is a shell of it's former self, everyone decent sacked it off years ago, only a few muppets remain.

I can see both sides, Stockport clearly have a bigger budget, a much better squad of players and will be increasing his wages by a good amount you would presume, footy can be cut throat, none of us would turn it down, but what has fucked everyone off is he made a big song and dance about how the contract he was offered wasn't up to snuff, eventually they met his demands, he signs a new three year deal a month ago, told everyone how happy him and his family were at Pools and he fucks off at the first flash of cash, why bother signing on then?

Real sour way to end things.

You've gotta be furious at this. You expect managers to leave for better things, but this must irk
