Apart from the fact he's a club legend from his playing days I dont know much about Molesley as a manager, but I get the impression from a few Southend fans on here that he wasn't as bad as results suggested last season?
So difficult to say, he came into a really shit situation, which got shitter, yet he made some truly baffling decisions while trying to employ some kind of Premier League sports science and Opta Stats mega clever thinking while having none of the resources to actually implement it at all.

My biggest disappointment with him was that he came from a majority youth/u23 coaching background yet our kids we had to play due to embargo and having no one else looked utterly hopeless under him.
Sol Campbell had got them playing the season before, they were playing out of their skin and starting to win and pick up points in League One, yet the same 18 year olds under Molesley looked exactly what they were, kids thrown in at the deep end.

It started terribly, nobody expected any less, then when we finally got the embargo lifted and were able to register more senior players, like Akinola, we started to pull together and I thought MM had really turned a corner, learnt from trying to play out from the keeper like we were Man City, we became hard to beat, went on a 9 match unbeaten run which got us back to the rest of the division who'd left us behind.
Then he just threw it all out the window in January, we literally changed everything, formation, started thumping it long or into channels it was so strange. We had a 4 match losing run in which we were dreadful, probably the worst football I've ever seen Southend play and that was that we never recovered.
I wondered in hindsight, after finding out Ron had approached Phil Brown in November about the job, whether MM thought 'fuck this, I'm a dead man walking'.

So all in all yeah, I don't think any Southend fans can help you with what he's truly like coaching and management wise, we've been an anomaly for a while now when it comes to judging managers, they're getting very little help or hope while the club is run into the ground.

I wish him all the best with you though, it must have been horrendous being around this toxic club day in day out.
And clearly Akinola will be with you soon.

Personally I think we sacked Searle too soon. However a lot of fans wanted him out for a while now, so maybe that forced the chairman's hand.

Not overly keen on the appointment of Molesley as I would have preferred someone who has managed in this league before. I understand the logic of bringing Terry Brown in as an advisor to Mark but does he still have the contacts and knowledge he used to? He's nearly 70 and not been involved at a National League club for over a decade...

It feels like Shahid has essentially gone for the most popular appointment for the fans. Which is fine. The only problem is a lot of our fans are stuck in 2004.

How much longer would you have given Searle though? We had our worst ever start to a season and I think we’d only won 2 in our last 16 games (including the end of last season). He seems like a nice bloke, but I genuinely believe if he’d have stayed we’d be relegated this season, he laid all the groundwork for relegation at the forum last week “we can’t compete, punching above our weight” and has showed nothing over the last 2 years to convince me we’d have stayed up.
Re Brown and Molesley - intrigued as to who you’d have appointed instead? They tick every box, experience, relationship with the fans, local knowledge…

I'd have given him at least 10 games. That's when the league starts to take a bit more shape. We've also just picked up four points from our last two games, so the timing for me is odd. I agree that we would have been in the bottom third of the league, but far too early to say we're in serious trouble. Shahid is obviously acting on the discontent that was being voiced by a lot of fans.

I feel our squad is very weak. Whether that is Danny Searle's fault at not being able to attract decent players, or Shahid's fault for not providing a competitive budget, I do not know. I can't however see a manager who's never managed at this level instantly turning it around, although I hope I am wrong!

I would have rather gone for someone with more experience at this level, maybe Neil Smith, or Alan Devonshire (if he'd be interested).

MM & TB's connection to the club will buy them more time with the fans, and I desperately hope they turn the tide. I just feel the issues are more to do with how the club is run off the pitch, rather than on it.

I'm convinced the decision was made after the Solihull game, but that we didn't pull the trigger until a replacement was ready

Daily Mail (sadly no other source available) claiming that Filipe Morais is in contention for the Barnet job.

I’m sure if that dinosaur could work out a way to win a game -1 0 then he would

When I saw this thread had been bumped I felt sure sir James Rowe had received his cards overnight, especially after spending five minutes on Bob’s Board.

Must win game for the former Gloucester man at Wrexham next Tuesday?

Whichever manager loses it, goes. It's really that simple at this point.

Reaction from our fans is always a bit knee jerk.

Wrexham could do the unthinkable, and lose at Aldershot on Saturday. In which case, the gaffer could have already shanned off……

Aldershot do aways beat us down there.

That said if they win this time I will hurl my season ticket into Parkinsons face.

I can’t believe how calm the Notts fans seem about last night, had that been us we would be in full blown TRIGGERED mode with a 95 page thread on the Fishy asking where it had all gone wrong.

Oops wrong thread. :bg:

A draw. So both Parkinson and Rowe cling on for now.

Attention switches to Burchnall now. Rumours of him lashing out after the game, thumping anyone in his path apparently. All eyes on Huish Park on Saturday now, the man needs a result.

Our owners specifically brought him in after sacking Ardley, so I don’t think they are going to get rid after a run of three defeats.

Particularly with our two senior centre backs and goalkeeper all out injured. If we’re still conceding a goal every five minutes once the clock hits 70 with those three back then you’d have to say he’s in trouble.

Yep. After calming down from last night, there are a couple of mitigating factors to be fair, losing our GK and three senior CBs before the Alty game being among them. And we are at least getting into winning positions. But none of that excuses conceding a ridiculous SEVEN goals in the last two games from 70 minutes on.
