Not exactly a bounce back performance from Vale. Everything looks so cumbersome when we have the ball.

Wolvo playing into the B team boycott anyway I’m pleased to say with 0 (zero) away fans.

Got that noted U21 footballer Tom King ex of Newport and Salford in goal.
Scorer of the goal from the furthest way out in history.

We probably deserve to be winning because we've dominated since Newport went down to 10. We were deservedly behind at half-time though.

Tell you what, what a shift that was from the vast majority of our ressies. 10 changes from Saturday, even with the 8 players we’ve currently got out injured says it all.

Chey Dunkley masterclass tonight, rock solid. Will be a big miss Saturday but Williams & Grimes have played well tonight so that’s positive. Good to have Mandeville back as well

Cooks son scoring the tap in winner is absolute banter. Around the place for purely nepotism reasons, very funny

Apparently won tonight but more importantly no reports of any injuries

2-1 defeat to Posh tonight, actually a very watchable game in the end. Good minutes in the tank for Andrews, Dack, Nevitt and Coleman on their journey back to fitness, and youngsters Gbode and Webster both had good games. Nevitt our goalscorer with one of the last actions of the game, a good header from a Gbode cross. We created plenty of chances to score more but then again so did they so scoreline not unfair at all. Hopefully no injuries for any of the boys coming back and we can move onto Saturday with a few more bodies in the squad.

Drew 2-2 with Newcastle and lost the pens. We were far by the better team tbh. Newcastle shite and lucky.

lost 3-2 to Bolton eventually, Dallas getting our 2nd goal.
good workout for the fringe players. 3 of the 4 who started Saturday and today were subbed off at half time.

Finished 2-2 with Wolvo and we won 5-4 in sudden death in the shootout.

Tolaj did a great job when coming on and nice finish by him on our first goal. To be honest second half we battered them and should have won it running away but we do like to keep teams in games.

Poor error for their goal late on with their only foray into our half but great finish in fairness.

Worryingly wasn’t a great performance,

Our best performance since the playoffs all that time ago, and yet we managed to lose at the death. Completely different brand of football, and what's most pleasing is we did it with a bunch of youth and fringe players. Literally played them off the park, but a combination of wasteful finishing and sheer bad luck conspired against us. It's been a long time since I enjoyed watching us play actual football, but despite the kick in the teeth at the death I really enjoyed tonight (from the comfort of my sofa, not a chance am I vindicating this abomination of a competition with my hard earned cash).

Encouraging, but Saturday still looks daunting...

Bolton have only made 3 changes from Saturday - Evatt must be feeling the pressure at Bolton.
That was because Southwood, Sheehan, Toal, Firino and Charles are away on International Duty....Jones, Forrester, Williams, Gomes, lolos, and Adeboyejo out injured and Morley and Nlundulu away on loan.
Sooner Evatt goes the better......Watched Jackson take numerous free kicks when he was with us on loan and not once did he put the ball into the box like he did tonight.
First half we was successful in one out of ten crosses, very poor but week after week our tippy tappy shite football costs us and Evatt

Perfect night for us.
Objective 1 - get some minutes for those coming back from injury. Tick
Objective 2 - no more fresh injuries. Tick.
Objective 3 - have a look at a couple of promising youngsters. Tick.
Objective 4 - Lose the game so we don’t have to play any more meaningless games against the Premier League toddler teams later in the season. Tick.

Jackson's free kicks and corners have been very good since he signed for us. He even scored a cracking goal (with his weaker foot) from outside the box in the league cup against Port Vale.

A shockingly large (considering the competition and our average gate) crowd of 2,005 last night including 686 away fans.

Only bad thing about last night is we won. Apparently we were fortunate. Good things, Ben Close got 70 mins into his legs, if we can keep him injury free we will stand a great chance of promotion. Both Ironside and Yeboah opened their scoring accounts, Olowu and McGrath appear to be forging a good CH partnership, Lawlor looked solid. Downside, Sterry yet again switched off and allowed a goal, Hurst, Broadbent and Sbarra not really putting their hands up to say pick me.
I expect a few changes for Saturday’s game

Are the crowds for last night listed anywhere? Had a skim through the games on Sky Sports+ last night and the grounds were absolutely empty at places like Bradford, Vale etc.

Think I heard 2200 odd at Lincoln

Agreed.....Evatt would drag him off if he had dared played a ball direct into the box from 40 yards.
Jacksons delivery is excellent

We rested most of our senior players whilst Blackpool named a stronger than expected team and dominated unsurprisingly. Some positives, including a goal for Omar Bogle and an assist for bright youngster Callum Agius, but aside from that, a tough evening.

A few years ago, we could beat the likes of Arsenal, Villa and Chelsea. Now we can't beat Newcastle juniors in a game that is likely to decide who finishes bottom of the group.

In this comp, things are reversed.
If you get a decent crowd, or take a reasonable away following then you should feel dirty and ashamed.
To take this seriously is the epitome of tinpot.

Burton Albion are currently leading the lowest attendance race with 473 but Grimsby haven't played yet so they can claim back the lead. You know what to do.
