Winning two games out of three, barely risking anyone and still going out would be the perfect campaign. Hopefully Burton hold on

Going out with six points? It’s the National League season all over again.

Wrexham have a right couple of units up top with Faal and Bodvarsson. Should be a good workout for our defence if nowt else. Largely been played at friendly pace so far.
Yea good of both sides to agree to play a game of walking football.

Bad news for you lot Luke Bolton going off injured as Seb Revan is ten times the player Bolton is.

Looked like you should have had a penalty earlier too.

I think it was a foul but to me it looked like it started outside the area so freekick if anything.

He's shown some nice touches for you since coming on. Paton done pretty well for us, come close a couple of times. Think if both teams could shake hands on skipping to pens right now they'd do it.

He looked very ‘chunky’.
Must be on a decent wage?

Good to see Grimsby fielding a string in teenagers, gives the kids an opportunity to play against seasoned pro’s
Might cop some pelters but he looks fat and past it doesn't he. Legs look completely shot. Our first dad's army recruit that hasn't worked.

Can see why these are struggling 2 players from Saturdays starting 11 for us and they still look awful they'd struggle in League 2.

Decent battle all be it at a fairly modest pace.

They’ve looked dangerous in the air from set pieces and Paton has been lively for us.

Certainly a foul for the penalty incident but possibly outside the box, although with Paton and his free kicks that’s sometimes as good as a pen!

Smith having a decent game, thrown his head in like a mad man as always and had a bit of shithousery.

Giving Moore something to think about.

Cassius Clay Cisse is on again for us, and Morecambe have a guy called Nathan Snowball making his debut. This competition brings out the best names of nothing else.

Held on to win 1-0 with another four debutants and eight academy players on the pitch at the end.

Unbelievable. We've won two on the bounce, and are unbeaten over 90 minutes in our last 3. It has begun.

Lovely finish from Rico Richards to level up the game.

Good response after conceding another poor goal from a corner. Need to sort that side of us out. Fully deserved the equaliser minimum and lovely finish but couldn’t find the winner.

That's some outstanding shithousery to force the shootout down the empty Hamil End than the end where both sets of fans are in tonight. Bit pointless this as think Wrexham would top the group anyway on GD even if we win the shootout.

Won on pens 3-1. We love a shootout. Ben Amos saving three.

Enjoyed that, decent contest with no pressure.

Looked chunky his whole career, that’s just his frame. You’d assume he’s on a decent wage but no idea, he only signed a short term deal here till end of year but it’s not looking good so far.

We’re out after putting a youth / 2nd string side out vs Leyton Orient. Good night.

Turned in to a reasonable enough watch. Think both teams can take positives from it. Wrexham showed how much they were really bothered about winning it when they randomly subbed their keeper at half time. We put some nice moves together though as the game went on. Shootout was what it was, a complete waste of time as had no effect on the final table.

Thought we played some decent stuff at times and probably looked the more likely winners. Can't read anything into it though as it was essentially a friendly. Thought Edwards looked alright and Harper did OK with some nice touches. We've got some footballers who can actually handle the ball in tight areas....it makes a big difference.

I’ve kept well clear of the discussion on BB on Fleck but is a car crash from us. Very good wage as a basic, and barely any bonuses for him actually playing. Should have been the other way around as he’s clearly well off it

Thought Smith was outstanding last night, won most things, when he moved over he was the only one who really dealt with the winger Revan.

Liked the look of Harper too, very good on the ball and that pass to through to Chis I think it was who in turn played in Paton when we should of had either a pen or corner and got neither was great technique.

Plenty of positives just that niggling concern about us defending set pieces into the box hanging over since last season.

Just know we will get a dreadful tie like Bolton again though.

We'll be away to either Stockport, Morecambe, Bolton, Blackpool, Doncaster, Rotherham or Chesterfield.

That's fucking grim. I'd take Morecambe or Chesterfield out of that lot.

We could get Bradford if they beat Rotherham in the last group stage game and I'd take them as well.
