I think that's about right. There was one game where it was ridiculously low.

They were in their run of victories before pipping Kiddy to the title, whilst we were still enduring a Holdsworth team and his 7,452 players a season non-contract and loan signings.

EDIT - GG beat me to it.

We did tell you about holdsworth! Lol

In all honesty, our attendances got that low for some while, the season you came down we got the to the fa trophy final and the winter had been poor. Think we had something like 4 home games in 7 days - we ended up playing barrow infront of 1200 on a Thursday night!

Aye, good memory. 4th win in a row - which went on to be 12 in a row. Don't think I'll ever see anything like that again!

If Lincoln don't sell out the away end at BP this season after all this "we're gonna piss this division backed by 10000 at Sincil Bank every week" bravado then they officially go behind Boston in the Lincolnshire tinpot stakes.

Bizarrely, up until this season, Holdsworth probably did the best for us in our NL days.

We cut the budget by 50% mid-season so he had that to contend with. He earned us some decent money in the FA Cup whilst signing a handful of half decent players (Boyce for £10k, sold for £40k, Vadaine Oliver on a free and sold for £25k (well, tribunal), Tom Miller on a free and ended up at Carlisle and Farman is still with us).

He probably had the most difficult job with us, but did the best in the circumstances. All that said, you'd certainly not have him long term because you'd not get anywhere with him.

If Lincoln don't sell out the away end at BP this season, they officially go behind Boston in the Lincolnshire tinpot stakes.
Tbf, we sold our entire allocation (1,100) out the last time we were there didn't we? Or was that the time before? We weren't allowed any more.

Whilst it's very true that our support at BP over the last few years has been poor to say the least, we were utter tripe even before we meekly surrendered our FL status. We continued that trend for the 6 (or was it 7) years in the NL without ever even finishing in the top half before last season. That takes its toll and I doubt if any club in our situation would keep the hardcore of numbers up home and away, hence sub 2000 gates and poor away followings.

It's now quite ironic that people are commenting about bandwagon jumpers coming on board. Again I think any club that sees a huge upturn in fortune would experience something of a renaissance in terms of numbers.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, you can't have it both ways Grimsby fans!

Aye, a few reasons for that if I remember rightly? On BT, at Christmas, we were flying and you hadn't sold out since the playoffs in 2006? That was the season Waterfall got sent off, wasn't it?

Well no, because if you sell out we'll say fair play. I'm not really fussed about your other matches, just want you to sell out for a local derby. I'm sure you will this season, though.

Lost 2-0 I think?

The best one was between Xmas and New Year when it snowed like hell and the game got the go-ahead at about 12.30/1pm leaving hardly anyone any time to actually get to the game and only 400 or so made it. To cap it off, we lost 3-0 IIRC!

Our attendances at local games is actually good, just not at Grimsby. It's not a favourite of the Imps, much to the amusement of the Cods.

We went through a stage of taking more to Barnet than Grimsby.

Yep, Reddy destroyed you in the first 10mins of that snowy game. Then Jamie Forrester did it to us in the return game.

I don't see the Cowleys leaving Lincoln this season.

Nor do I. But you've got to remember Grimsby had 3 different managers last season so they're struggling to understand continuity and what happens at well run clubs.

As for selling out at Blundell Park probably will this year but as has already been said above, not many are arsed about grimsby away. Shit journey shit town. We've always travelled to county and posh used to take 2500 to both 10 years ago, proper away day.

Bloody hell looks like a daily thread about lincoln on the fishy hahaha well that settles that one. They're not bothered about us though.

And Son of Cod apart from a fairly well thought out name and clever selfie you don't offer much in this playground I must say. Must do better.

We're not pretending to not be bothered about you though? I like the Lincoln rivalary/derby and you guys should like it too, if you didn't you wouldn't always be banging on about us.

With regards to my involvement here, unfortunately for you the only way to statistically gauge that is by post:like ratio and you are Sunday league standard at best.

Loads of Grimsby fans pretend they're not, heard them try and claim sheff wed as a 'proper' rival. That's like us saying Forest are. Ridiculous. If GTFCFish didn't follow me round like a trawler I wouldn't engage in as much mariner chat.

And I don't know what a post like ratio is but sounds good.

Don't know how many times I've/we've said this but don't go on the Fishy expecting level-headedness. Impish would fit right in there.

Atm, Lincoln are our biggest rivals. About 50 years ago it was Hull but for most of the time, it's been Scunthorpe. A lot of our fans don't accept that and post about Lincoln 'not being a rivalry'. More fool them.

It works both ways though. I've read Vital a bit and most of the comments about Grimsby are along the lines of 'stinks of fish, shithole, codheads, why would anyone live there' so Vital members are just as bad.

Fwiw, I worked in Lincoln about 2 years ago and it was pretty shit.

Edit: also saw that article that some twat wrote about a comment on the fishy that Nates had had a bust up. Quite sad. Anyway, rant over, back to being nice.

Haha yeah the Wendies thing is indeed ridiculous. Not sure how far back that goes, but in my life I remember us being involved in some second tier relegation scraps with them but that's about it.

Not a bust up as such just got a bit heated and certainly taken all the money out the club, he has put a decent sum but not as much compared to the cup run money, gate increases and season ticket sales.
Suppose Lincoln is shit if don't like Roman ruins or Norman architecture.
Don't get me wrong some areas in Lincoln are rough and the area around the ground is one of the worst bits!

Lincolns arrival from under the rock they hid underneath for years is hilarious to say the very least. I'm quite enjoying it.

I think I've posted a grand total of 5 times this season...

It is funny though, after one good season (and fair play, great season) Lincoln fans have seemingly forgotten how tinpot and shite they were for years and we find them popping up on every Grimsby related thing you can find. You lot are posting on our OS's season ticket updates and sang about us at your promotion party and at the scene of one of sports greatest achievements (Burnley away). It's so desperately sad. Even sadder for a team who 'didn't care' about us when we were spanking you every Christmas.

As I posted before, there are nearly as many threads on the fishy about Lincoln as there are about Grimsby........

I also said that if the roles were reversed, and you were as shite and tinpot as we were, I cannot see Grimsby fans or any others being any different?

I've seen our fan base swell the shitter we got in fairness.

Lincoln In fans my age have never been a proper rival, it stems from the fact you've not made it past this division since 1998. So I think it's hard to take a set of fans serious who pick and choose if we're rivals based on wether they're winning games at the time or not.

Singing about us on those two occasions though, are Lincoln fans not mortified by that?
