The Minkah deal certainly has paid off so far as has the decision to trade up for Bush. We are starting to look pretty good on the D side of the ball. I still have concerns about the O though, although some of that is injury related. Nice to see us actually win one on Sunday despite what was the usual BS call near the end of the game, this time for Pass Interference against Nelson made to look even more unbelievable when it was upheld after a challenge. That could have quite easily cost us that game in the same way that the even more crazy "roughing the passer" call cost us the Ravens game.

My fantasy team is hopeless

Even stars like Keenan Allen, and kamara are doing nothing

Minkah has got 4 picks already this season - only other Steeler to have that many in the past 15 seasons was Polamalu (twice).

It was great to get that game over the line at the death, although I still have some worries with Rudolph and the offense. Rams next week will be a real acid test, I don't think the constant checkdowns to Samuels will work as well.

Rudolph's got a fairly accurate deep ball, I'm putting the overtly conservative nature of the offense squarely at the shoes of Randy Fichtner. It's got to open up this Sunday because Wade Phillips will read through the Tight End bubble screens and running back checkdowns.

It was an uncatchable ball, even the commentators were saying as much. :ffs:

In fairness, the DPI that the Steelers benefitted from earlier in the quarter was just as ridiculous and Frank Reich lost his challenge too so at least New York is consistent...

I know, the irony of us Steelers fans moaning about suspect refereeing calls I'm sure isn't lost on the rest of you here. I'm still bitter about what went down in New Orleans last season, those calls were more egregious than the Jesse James 'catch' the season prior.

To be honest the more the season has gone on I think they need to do away with the reviews on PI. The standard for overturning seems ridiculously high to the point it's just a waste of time. I understand why they brought it in after the NFC Championship game but it doesn't work for me.

I know it's against the Bengals, but my word is Lamar Jackson doing insane things right now. Throwing, running, incredible stuff.

Also, talking about the Bengals, where does this 2019 team rank amongst the worst ever in NFL history? Good chance they go 0-16, the Dolphins look like their only real shot at a win.

If I was a Falcons I would be asking serious questions as to where that Defense has been all season? Completely dominated an elite Offense in the Saints.

The Giants have sunk to a new low today, letting the Jets score on them at will is pretty shameful.

It's up there lack of any stand out players apart from Green who I think is questionable if he will return the 0-16 does look very possible but I would add Jets to the list of teams where they possibly can get a Win. On the plus side they probably get the honour of drafting Burrow No1.

Not the boldest prediction now they've gone above .500 for the first time but... Pittsburgh are making the playoffs, aren't they? Very possibly at our (Buffalo's) expense. I'd mentally written them off far too early and not paid much attention. Apart from that disaster against NE though their other losses have been tight games against some of the very best teams. Lost by 2 points to Seattle, 4 to San Francisco and 3 to Baltimore. And now they're on a bit of a tear.

Schedule looks good and I reckon they beat us in week 15 and it's not unlikely that'll be part of a 3-games losing streak (Baltimore, Pittsburgh, NE) that drops us out of contention.

It was looking like a disaster for them after they lost to the Ravens, but it's an incredible turnaround by them. Lost Big Ben, AB, Bell, but you do wonder if all that controversy they removed in the offseason helped them.

You could easily see them now winning 5 of their last 7, maybe even 6. And when you look back, there was no shame in any of the 4 defeats, they were all to good teams.

Yeah, if they don't take Burrow with the No 1 pick they've officially lost their minds. And you say that they don't have any standout players, but there are some pieces there, especially on offense. Green, Mixon had 1000 yards rushing last season, Boyd 1000 recieveing.

Get some help on the O-line and help Burrow develop with a good QB and OC and they could rebound next season.

Might as well give up, if you allow the Jets to stick 34pts past you.

:bye:

Don't worry, I've been shit out of luck with tight ends all season, Olsen suddenly started scoring once I dropped him and Hockenson will do the same now whilst Rudolph returns to early season form.

Jesus Christ, what have I just seen?! I mean, Rudolph is no saint for trying to rip Garrett's helmet off first and Pouncey can expect a length suspension for the punches and kicks on Garrett.

But Garrett should get a really long suspension for this. The rest of this season and the next enough? Lifetime suspension?

I would say for the rest of this season including the playoffs if the Browns were to make it would be the type of suspension would be looking at. That said with this being a primetime televised game can see the NFL going a step further and giving him the Vontaze Burfict treatment on a conduct detrimental basis.

Whilst Garrett only would have himself to blame can only see Freddie Kitchens getting fired by the end of the year. Was always an accident waiting to happen having a first year coach there and the Browns have been an undisciplined mess all year (think they are leading in penalties for the year which is always a good indicator). This is just the icing on the cake really.

Myles Garrett suspended indefinitely, Pouncey suspended for 3 games and Larry Ogunjobi suspended for 1 game. Both teams fined $250,000 and Mason Rudolph will be fined too.

Mason Rudolph isn't innocent in all of this but for those over in the States with their 'hot takes' saying he started last night's incident, they couldn't be anymore wrong. It started with Garrett's late and overzealous tackle on Rudolph which caused the latter to be so angered.

If anything, it distracts everybody from an inept offensive performance yet again from the Steelers. I went to sleep at half-time knowing full well that they wouldn't turn round a 14 point deficit.

Edit: My word the offensive line has regressed at a rate of knots this year, pass protection was awful last night but that hasn't been as consistently bad as generating any form of run blocking.

Sad sight to see Tua get what looks like a very serious injury yesterday. Easy to be wise after the event but think Saban should have not played him given he already had an ankle injury even if that was a separate injury to the one which occurred yesterday. Be interesting how this affects the draft now as am almost certain the Dolphins would have had him right at the top of their board.

I don't think it will change the board to much even before the Injury Burrow I think is QB1 I doubt Tua will slip it will be dependent on draft order and also Phins have the draft capital to move up having three 1st's.

Burrow at #1 I can see that but this probably now pushes Tua below Herbert at least in my view. The knock on Tua all along has been his durability and if you're a GM and see this on top of his previous injury history that has to give them extra reason to be nervous about drafting him.

It's a separate discussion to this but things like this are why I do believe College players should be paid also. The NCAA makes enough money out of them to justify it.

As for today big game for the Patriots at the Eagles, should get our first regular season look at N'Keal Harry. How he connects with Brady will be interesting as rookie WR's often struggle initially within our system.

Not sure if Herbert beats out Tua I still see Tua as QB2 but it does look an interesting QB class apart from those three there is Eason , Love and Fromm as potential 1st's as well hopefully a lot of of QB's get taken early really need one of those top WR to drop down to us.

I agree it's a joke to call College sports amateur when the Coach's are paid millions and the Kids can't even go out and sign commercial deals you only have to look at the Chase Young situation

An improved performance even if it was against the Phins don't know if they fixed but the run Defense but it was definately improved and the Offense probably played the best game to date.

Only a point down at half time but man this Pats team is seriously flawed. Our red zone offense has been horrendous. Partly due to Brady not getting protected at all it must be said but the lack of understanding between him and the receivers in general has been an eye opener.

The defense in fairness is doing its job. Not been a pleasant night for Wentz either so far.

Oh well, at least the Fish are still 2 ahead of the Bungles.

Re the Redskins and Jets game
1) How catastrophically bad are the Skins to ship 34pts to the Jets?
in which case
2) How chronically bad were the Dolphins when the lost to the Skins? ffs

Looking like the Pats will be playing in Miami come February (unfortunately)

I doubt it. Too many issues on offense for this team. If was to pick a team from the AFC today would say Baltimore. They have done brilliantly to craft a scheme which Lamar is running to perfection and is also probably odds on for MVP at this stage.

On to 9-1 in the end last night but I think if ever a record was built on sand it is this one. No running game to speak of which bailed us out last year and the passing game is a shadow of what it has been in the past. We've got possibly the best Defense in the NFL certainly in the secondary but that can only take you so far. Just fortunate last night the Eagles were utter garbage outside of one drive, they should have some concerns with Wentz based on that. Locks on to his first read far too much.

Edit - and if I never see Marshall Newhouse play another down for the Pats it will be too fucking soon.

If you want to be negative, try being a fan of a team that is 2 and 8 (and tanked a few of those losses to boot)

That first half from the Vikings yesterday is why we will be incapable of going far in the playoffs, even though it looks like we should make them now. Denver's defense is very good, but a playoff calibre team puts 40 points on us if that game is played out again. Pass defense has gone right off a cliff this year, and some of our offensive playcalling is still very questionable, though at least they remedied it in enough time this week.

Well needed bye to get Thielen back, then at Seattle which we will probably get blown out in, before a reasonably decent run in with three home divisional games and a trip to the Chargers (so, 4 home games). Should be OK, just a question of whether we can peg the Packers back for 1st, week 16 game could be huge, but we will need the Packers to lose another game somewhere and realistically that only looks possible next week in San Francisco.
