If he was equating some of the less pleasant elements of Islam with the KKK (which I don't think he was. It was simply hyperbole) then surely that's simply his opinion and as you yourself said, everyone is entitled to theirs.

Quite. He's also repeatedly berated other posters for their attitudes towards Islam so I'm not sure why some of the opinions he's expressed in this thread re homosexuality shouldn't be subject to the same kind of scrutiny.

Seems strange to me that someone who spends an inordinate amount of time off their tits on all manner of intoxicants should express the view that you can't be a gay muslim. Not that I'd dare suggest that believers rather like to pick and choose when it comes to their faith...

First off Abertawe, nobody compared the KKK to Islam, he compared the KKK to homophobia which I see no issue with personally (the comparison, not homophobia)

Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, nobody is ever going to agree with everything and this is a forum after all so I don't see a problem with challenging those views as long it's not an attack on the person, which I don't really think this was.

Can't be arsed. Religion is a fantasy but those who have faith still have the right to belief so long as they don't cause direct harm with their beliefs.

Always challenge homophobia but there wasn't anything to be challenged yesterday.

I just thought there was a massive lack of respect shown to sl1k yesterday, especially when you consider it's the 9th month. We should be welcome of someone who brings the forum a different perspective that no one else can.

You really can to be fair, if you're looking just at the scripture. I don't think that's what was being done though, he was just using the KKK to illustrate the hypocrisy of letting religious views off so easily. "My religion says so" is no excuse.

I couldn't say how I'd deal with having a gay son, it's very conflicting for me personally. He'd always have my unconditional love, but would i be inviting them (as in him with his partner) round for dinner n that? Probably not if I'm to be totally honest. My son will always be my son, though.

u can slam islam if u do it in a smart way, the religion is hardly perfect. if u think someone is an idiot u can call their claims fucking ridiculous but it's a clumsy form of debate to attack and insult the person themselves. gets no-where, gets people defensive and makes the whole conversation about point scoring and 'winning', when really in a proper debate the best result is both sides learning a little about the other. please try and take this on board, abertawe. me and the other staff members are taking notice

As everyone has said, I was not claiming that Islam is the same as the KKK. There was no comparisoj between the two. The comparison was between holding homophobic views and holding ones that the KKK do.

Sure, I won't be rude to anyone because of their faith but don't expect me to give bad ideas s free pass because they come from s religious background.
